My husband, Kurt Jackson, knew Prince since the 70s. Prince used to be in a band with Kurt's cousin, Terry Jackson. My husband learned to play the guitar, piano and drums and wrote and produced his own music. Prince once told my husband in the 80s, "You don't really want this," referring to the fame and with it the loss of privacy and most importantly your soul.

@@pinkchilldivestmentorprince did sell his soul for fame but when he seen how fame really was he was trying to buy his soul back but it was to late ..he exposed the industry by talking about contracts and control when he went back to Warner brothers in 2014 he only asked them for a 3 year deal and he was going to leave them for good .so they had to get rid of him

lots of young artists dream of having a crowd and have good hit songs people want to hear all the time but the cost of that is you either become a trained monkey or maybe you will produce a lot of material and stay yourself like the Stones and Madonna but their career still pans like... 2-3 times an entire life's work...

People are forgetting about the other Michael, George Michael! In the late 80s no one not even Prince and Michael Jackson could touch George Michael! It took George stepping back and not promoting his second album “Life without Prejudice” as he did with his first album “Faith.” That was the only reason Prince and Michael Jackson returned to the top of the charts. Bc when George Michael was there fully there there was no one else that could touch him! Don’t get me wrong Prince is talented but George Michael proved he could stand with these iconic 80s icons like Prince, Michael Jackson, Madonna etc. and while he was there those other icons stood in his shadow and could not get out of it until he stepped away!

Prince was MUSIC. He embodied music. You can hear every genre of music within his body of work. He wrote, composed and produced. He recorded his songs alone- that is, he played every instrument in every song without a backing band. He was his own backing band when it came to recording his "children"- which is what he called all his musical creations. He literally would lay down each track- the percussion, the keyboards and synthesizers, the guitar (bassline, rhythm and lead guitar parts). He would only reach out to engineers to assist with production. Prince is a stand alone artist. It was exclusively HIS vision, his inspiration and his show. When he covered other artists like Joanie Mitchell or even the Foo Fighters, he covered those artists with respect and honor. He was in love with every aspect of music. Couple this with his unparalleled level of giving back to his community and the world. He privately and anonymously gave his money to charities, carefully making sure that his name was never known. He loved us all and appreciated the love we had for his musical mission. Prince was the superhero of all things music.

Also to validate that [Prince lived for music] what is important, look at every other great musician, Elvis, Beatles, Queen's Freddie Mercury [who was touched by music like Prince, he was making music till he could no longer stand] MJ or Madonna, what do they all have in common? they all got rich & bought big houses right? what did Prince buy? he bought a state of the art recording studio & built a house around it, so he basically lived in a studio, Prince woke up every morning never had to go to the studio it was there, hence he has the biggest catalog & vault of unreleased music, modern day Mozart indeed

Swear to god that Super Bowl (aka Superb Owl) performance can and will make anyone - man or woman or NB, adult or teen or child young-adult or elderly person or middle-aged person, whatever - weep like a baby....or at least shed more than a few stoic "manly" tears, even if the circumstances necessitated that the song be quite a bit shorter than usual (especially compared to most live versions that he'd play). Especially when he hits that guitar solo.

Prince could do no wrong. He heavily influenced my life and the lives of my children. Everytime I stepped back and thought about a song he did, I wondered how and where he caught it. I thought there might be something about his house or neighborhood where one could go and catch a vibe, so I visited his early home, his studio. My God, as soon as I hit the door, I couldn't move. I had to freeze and just grieve. I loved that man. I discovered his hometown was much like one of mine, you know, the tracks, the trains, the green neighborhood, nothing controversial. Hee, hee. It was him. I have memories of going to my cousins funeral in another state and coming back to Denver to buy a ticket off the street catch Prince jumping out of the pink cadillac to start his show. I was so lucky to get a front row seat. I was so amazed. The last time I saw him, he was standing so still on stage at the Grammys and I kept thinking about his being. I couldn't take my eyes off him. I'm still devastated at our loss. I'm so looking forward to all the music coming forth. I'll always be a Prince fan and music will always be our families values.

The only possible comparison might be Stevie Wonder. Both have immense bodies of work. They are both true songwriters, composers, producers, and multi-instrumentalists (though Prince plays more of them). Both have careers that span decades, yet they remained relevant throughout. Both have been immeasurably influential to other artists. Both are geniuses. Stevie is truly anointed with so many songs that have brought me to tears. But… I might be willing to concede that Prince might have the edge over Stevie due to his persona, mystique, character, and style. And because he can play several instruments, while Stevie plays just 2-3. And because he’s also an amazing performer. And I’ll add that he can work it in heels better than I ever could, lol, and his hair was always LAID. Never thought I’d say someone could edge out Stevie Wonder…

B is the second letter of the alphabet. O is the fifteenth. So the name Beautiful Ones encodes the numbers 2-15. Now look up the death dates of Denise Matthews (Vanity) and Prince's mother. The Prince phenomena is not what you think.

Agreed. But in fact anyone of us is unique, during life we differ (money, fame, dolcevita or hard life, etc.), so we all sould respect ppl, when they live. How many haters had Prince in time he lived and probably some of them write sad comments "Prince the best artist ever" with hypocrisy.
