The thing about Prince is he didn't just make music, Prince IS music. I've never witnessed another artist who literally dedicated his life to music. He would record about 3-5 albums worth of material every year, he was proficient at all 27 instruments he played, he's done like every genre under the sun, and of course he's regarded as one of the best (if not the best) live performers of all time.

I went to a Prince concert in 2011 and it was the best live show I have ever seen. He played flat out for almost 4 hours without taking a break. It didn't even feel like a concert because he would play his songs and songs from other artists just non stop. It was like Prince was having a party and everyone was invited. Just insane. No other experience will ever come close. Too bad he's no longer with us.

Prince is king to me. Like, I get why MJ is the king of pop but Prince was more than just a single genre of music to me. He did everything no other artist could do. MJ didn't even write most of his own songs, lipsynched his live performances, and he was an amateur player of guitar, piano and dumbs while Prince played them plus bass guitar and synths at a professional or expert level, and he performed live and crossed multiple genres. Prince was a genuine musician. MJ doesn't even come close to being as talented as Prince was. Prince could have easily done what MJ did by putting down the instruments and live performance and just taken whatever hit lyrics came his way from writers and then shot big music videos and then just lipsynched them on stage.

Prince's passing - hit me harder than I expected. I listened to his music exclusively, after - for 2 years straight...I was in music mourning...deep. It broke my heart...and I had to try and figure out why. My reason was that I knew, that I would never see another Prince, even if I lived two lifetimes. Nowadays....you always have people trying to crown this artist, or that artist - the new king or queen of whatever. They never do that with Prince. Because they know that it is just not possible....

What a great review/reaction. 💟 When Prince played, it was soon after wardrobe malfunctiongate and the censors were at high alert. So when Prince played his guitar behind the giant sheet, his guitar was a giant phallic symbol 🍆 and was Prince snubbing the censors (who he has had a longtime feud with) Also the Foo Fighters were hanging with Neil Peart and Rush when unbeknownst to them Prince was covering Best of You. Someone ran out to tell them Prince was covering them at the Superbowl. They said "cool"!. He did this because they covered Darling Nikki without telling him. Prince was the only artist (as far as i know)who added multiple covers to his Superbowl setlist. Sampling Queen, Dylan, CCR AND Foo Fighters. All live! No lip syncing like so many including MJ. Or air banding like Red Hot Chili Peppers(embarrassing). Real music played by real musicians. Legendary performance. RIP Prince

Prince was a bona fide genius, he had insane gifts and did the hard work to turn his dreams into reality. If you dive deep into Prince's work, the brillance is even more evident. The best of my generation without a doubt. When you listen to Prince, it's 100% - he followed his own muse. There was a story about the rain at this Super Bowl and someone suggested that he lipsync due to the dangers of electrocution. Prince quickly shot back, "I'm Prince I sing live". MJ was a great performer and dancer, but he had a team of the best people helping him including the incomparable Quincy Jones & Rod Temperton. MJ also resorted to lipsyncing at times, although not like they do today. The two artists were on completely different roads. I personally rank Kate Bush higher than MJ.

People can "debate" Prince and Michael Jackson but the facts are that MJ is a bigger superstar globally but it's Prince that plays guitar, bass guitar, piano, drums and synths at a professional to expert level (MJ was an ameteur players of guitar, drums, piano), Prince wrote most of his music while MJ didn't write most of his music. Prince crossed across multiple genres, and he's easily the most talented musician of modern times between playing all instruments, dancing and performing. MJ lipsynced most of his performances because his shows were more about him dancing while his big hits played in the background, while Prince actually sang and played guitar (sometimes bass guitar and piano too) and that's why he also covered other people's music at his live shows. Since Prince and his band were doing it live he would change up the sounds to his own songs, either making them more hard rock or more funky or sometimes more electronic (synths).

Find this movie, purple rain he wrote every song on the album saw the movie in the theater and at the end I never ever saw a movie getting a screaming, standing ovation. Try to find that movie you’ll be blown away again.

11:52 literally while watching it we were just super hopeful he was not gonna get struck by lightning standing in water holding the Purple Rain guitar. ETA - I forgot to mention when you were trying to think of who he was like… Sir Brian May of Queen loved the time he watched him perform

Prince was such a great and rare performer. He had style! And a great dancer too! I would love to see his grammy performance where he danced & you react to it.😊 So great! I am old fuddy duddy & some of his songs were way too risque- themed for me, but I adore his rare talent & charisma. A young man who thought before he spoke. And the "Purple Rain in the rain" was amazing! Love from one of your BeeGees reaction fans!❤

Prince is a carlos santana fan, carlos was a big inspiration to him as was jodi mitchel and Goerge clinton among a few.. he loved how james brown controlled his band when playing live, but he was more of a sly an family fan... prince is the goat bar none, out of his peers he was the only one who can walk into a studio on his own an deliver a hit...FACTS ..love your reaction bro..

I agree only Prince could be singing purple rain in legit purple rain. The crazy thing is that when the meteorologist for this NFL season called Prince and told him it was going to be raining his exact words were "can you make it any harder"
