When parenting is done right, this is what it looks like. She asked if he needed help, he said no and she gave him his independence. Allowing him to try himself gives him that sense of self. I love this family.

I love how Princess Kate is not allowing Louis's paper to completely fall and picks it up for him. She allows him to totally enjoy his well made snack, but cleans up after him. These children are being raised in an extremely wholesome manner.

@@miriam081245 I don’t think he realizes it about the paper. He was hungry. She finished taking the rest of the paper off and just picked up the rest. I did the same thing for my daughter at that age, especially if she didn’t realize it. Now if she realized it and walked away that was different but never set out to embarrass her in a public setting but if handled appropriately, you won’t. So many sets of eyes on these children too to pick everything apart. He just turned 5. He’ll learn. I do think William and Catherine are trying to instill down to earth, every day values in them. I’m sure William thanks his mother for doing that, within the best of her ability, with him. Catherine was raised that way so it’s a great combo between them. It’s a balancing act. My daughter will soon be 16 and a very industrious girl. She picks up well. But every kid is different. She’s my one and only so I can’t imagine having three different personalities to deal with and at different stages LOL so hats off to parents that do!! But just when you think they’re never going to get it, all of a sudden they do (most of the time😊)

I like the way Prince William and Catherine , Prince and Princess of Wales or parenting here. They are working but they took their children with them. This put me in the mind of Prince William mother Diana, taking him on working job and showing Prince William the rope or the real world. Prince William (especially) and Catherine know that as they grow older their freedoms will be restricted so they have always wanted them to just be 'ordinary normal kids' for the majority of their childhood. Usually there wouldn't have been as many 'official' sightings of the children but it's been an unusual 12-months - Queen's Jubilee/Queen's Funeral/Christmas Sandringham Church Greeting/ Easter Service Greeting/Coronation/Coronation Concert/and this 'volunteering with the Scouts' and BBQ. They should now be able to go back to school and play when they get home for a little while!

Why would you suggest he is going to be the trouble maker of the family. Not all families have children who are labelled by stereotypes. At the moment, he is child who only turned five, less than a week ago. He has shown himself to have a delightful personality, to enjoy himself, to be quick to learn. It took him no time at all when he listened to the lady teaching him how to use the bow and arrow, he listened and then wham, first attempt he hit the target. He hit the target 8 out of 9 times. He was impeccably behaved in the coronation. I cannot think of any child his age, even a teenager, who would’ve coped with walking in to the Abbey in front of 2,300 adults staring at you, then sing, pray, listen, watch for over two hours. Yes Louis is entertaining without meaning to be. Yes he has great parents. Thankfully they balance it out with letting him find his own path as well as quietly discreetly directing him. I cannot imagine how hard it must be to be William n Catherine knowing that the slightest movement their children make, say, do, will be zoomed in on, analysed, picked on. Thinking back to the Queens Jubilee concert etc, in all honesty, any other parent with three kids at the concert, would have whipped out an iPad or iPhone the moment one of them was bored or restless or heaven forbid, spoken firmly harshly to one of them. Imagine the criticism Catherine would have faced - oh she obviously is never with Louis, so she gave him the ipad to babysit him, why didn’t she get the Nanny to take him I bet she would control him etc etc… too many reporters n public folk love to be arch chair parenting experts

William could not have done better than Kate, as a mother to his kids & the future heirs. She was raised in a very loving, nurturing home, witnessing healthy relationships & it also gives William perspective, compared to his own upbringing & being able to learn how to heal his own stuff & learn to parent in healthy ways. Those kids are going to be very well adjusted, regardless of whatever little adventures they pursue. They have a very solid, loving environment to revert back to with their parents, regardless of being raised with royal type protocol. Funny how William seemed a bit relieved at the end with the smore sandwich like, "you won't hear a peep out of him after this!" LOL... Louis must still be the most vocal then about what he likes & wants & doesn't. Charlotte is like the Queen; very much about order & structure.

He is adorable. Exactly as one noted when parenting is done right this is what it looks like. So, often in public, I am shocked by behavior from even a teen to their parent or worse to a grandparent. I have traveled with three children of various ages in their lives and two grandchildren whose ages were from 3 years old (on a plane to Hawai’i at three and later at 12 years old with her brother.) their behavior was incredible as noted by others. To me, it was as if they are at home. So traveling, at functions, and at other socials never worried about their behaviors.

I want him to stay little. He's so funny! ❤😂

He is a rebel…. Will be interesting to see in 20 years at his behaviour.

@@cynthiawoods883 in what way. Louis JUST turned 5 only 6 days before this. He had been spending the past month at school, as well as having rehearsals for the Coronation, being fitted for clothing and shoes, had to get up extra early on Saturday to be showered, fed, dressed, ready to leave home and be at the Abbey by 11am, then walk in to the Abbey with over 2,300 adult faces staring at him, plus over 100 choir members, clergy, lots of cameras everywhere, then sit on seats that are a part of an amazing building that was built in the 1500’s so the seats are not entirely comfortable. Then the Coronation itself lasted for more than two hours and he couldn’t get up and sit on the floor or lay on the floor if he was tired or restless like kids who are 4, 5, 6, 7 do at school in a regular 30 minute lesson… he then had the balcony appearance, photos etc, all up, the day began before 6:00am and the children didn’t get home until 4pm. Then George + Louis and William, Catherine had a quick shower and change of clothes to head off to the concert and Louis stayed home with his Middleton grandparents who slept over. The next day, the Wales family were up and about VOLUNTEERING at the Scouts, as part of The Big Day Out Initiative of King Charles III. The kids could’ve stayed home to rest but they were asked if they wanted to volunteer to help the scouts. All three chose yes. They volunteered and all three - painted and vanished furniture, Louis loaded up the wheelbarrow with tan bark mulch apparently loading it 7 times and each time pushing the heavily loaded wheel barrow by himself. Muscles, focus, control, determination, balance. The kids also helped dig a drain, laid pavers for a path, then once finished they got to participate in the fun activities - learning how to do archery which Louis, actually hit the target 8 out of 9;tries. They all made and ate s’mores, which he had never tasted before, they did the tree hand art mural, … so please, tell me how this child who had only been five for less that a week was a bit spoilt or treated as a baby, as the baby of the family. By the way, he is actually the baby of the family, in the sense that he is the youngest. George is the eldest. Charlotte is the middle child. Louis is the youngest. So does this mean that George at age 9, being the eldest should always be sensible, responsible, mature, grown up. Does it mean that Charlotte, who just turned 8, only three days earlier, therefore is still more of a seven year old, but since she is the middle child, she should be displaying middle child syndrome tendencies. She should be feeling neglected, should be playing up to fight for attention, etc, being the middle means you’re not loved. Is this part of your mind scope. Leave them all be.

In the farming world as well as the Monarchy the eldest child (in farming it's still son if one exists) inherits but that in itself is restrictive because they don't get to choose their future. Other siblings have wider horizons to explore and some will choose to stay close to the fold while others will choose a different career - like Princess Anne did for many years as an equestrian/Prince Andrew did as a 22-year serving Naval Officer/Prince Edward did in the theatrical arena! But they are all loved sons and daughters and NEVER considered a 'spare' by those that matter.
