This was by far the best Super Bowl halftime ever. Yes it was really raining, the lightning at the beginning was special affects for TV. The show producers were worried about it raining. They were worried he’d get electrocuted because of the electric guitars or one of his dancers would fall because of the slippery stage and high heels. When they told him it was raining he said, “yes, can you make it rain harder?” The day before the performers always rehearse and it’s video taped as a just in case something happens that they have something to air during the actual Super Bowl. I heard that either Prince didn’t record his rehearsal or he got rid of it or something. He didn’t want it to be used. One of his keyboard players, Morris Hayes, said that at the end of the show all of the equipment died because it was water logged. I was lucky enough to see him in concert twice, 2004 and 2011. I wish it could have been more.

I love how most artists use the Super Bowl halftime performance to promote themselves and do these wild productions and lip sync. And you can tell that when Prince put his performance together, it was more about the one time chance to play at a football game. 😂💜 Everything from the football fans, the marching band, live music in the rain, and even just checking egos at the door and playing music that would appeal to a larger audience…it’s all authentic perfection. 💜 I really hope Prince payed for FAMU to get new instruments too…I can only imagine how jacked up all the drums were after that. 😂😭
