In February 1970, Prince Charles, Prince of Wales was filmed taking part in dress rehearsals for the Cambridge Footlights Revue. The now King joined the prestigious Footlights Club in 1967 when he arrived at Trinity College to study archaeology, anthropology, and history.
A career in comedy was sadly never an option for the Queen's son and heir. Though this clip might suggest that his regal destiny wasn't the only thing standing in his way...

He's been known as somewhat of a cheeky fellow
If this had been the Charles we'd gotten to see more of, nobody would have been on "the other side" of the walkabouts feeling bad because they didn't get to see Diana but were stuck having to see "just Charles." He can be funny and charming and likeable when he wants. He can also be a bratty ass too. I wish he would remember during those times that he has EVERYTHING and doesn't need to get in a snit about anything. Just be that funny guy you were onstage and keep it moving.

I am a footlight, and I have access to the archive. This is not the footlights review, this is trinity college review. Charles never performed with us, and was only an honourary member of our troop anyway. Don't let this stop you enjoying the clip though!

Can you see here, at this age he already had a sordid affair with Camilla. At 17 Charles became a dad. To me here he is still a child in the making. Poor Simon Charles, now age 54 & grand dad to 5 aboriginals kids living in Brisbane, Australia. Octogenarian.
