PRIMUS FIRESTICK STOVE REVIEW | WINDPROOF? SEE FOR YOURSELF

This videoreview is about the Primus Firestick Stove, a nice little gas stove with a very unique design that should make it more windproof than other stoves. I have been using the Firestick from Primus for a couple of months now and have found the answer to the question: is really that windproof? See for yourself and enjoy the review!

    Hi TouringJoe, You notice, that is sweet 😍! I am working my - you know what off 😏 - to make this a succes but it is hard to grow. I try to get at the 10K number at the end of the year so I can start with some nice T-shirts or so and try to make some money out of the investment that I am doing. Shooting 4K.... nice but I had to buy a lot of new stuff and learn a lot. But... I seem to get the hang of it and found a nice mix between outdoor, gadgets and bikes. So thanks for following and commenting🙏! If you have suggestions: I am all ears. Enjoy the Outdoors and Stay Safe! Cheers, Gijs

    Hi Mr CBR 😉, Thanks again, I try hard and I hope I was making a balanced review. I like the Primus brand since I have a few very good (old) stoves from them. But the recent one are a bit - I don't know - and I don't like to a lower mark to any brand. But this...Its just not a super product for outdoor, maybe camping in a more controlled environment. The Primus burner at 2:59, is a 'Primus Express Duo' stove. I have one myself in the "non duo" version with piezo. One of the best stoves Primus has made in a long time. Sadly they can't seem to get to mabe a decent piezo that holds up in the long run. Thank you for your video and review of the Firestick, btw.

    Yes that is true, but I would not advice anyone to pack a warm stove neither to touch it with bare hands. So the Primus makes a tube pouch with drawcord... that would be great bonus. Thanks 🙏 for sharing your thoughts! Enjoy the Outdoors and Stay Safe! Cheers, Gijs

    Hi J, Yes that is difficult. I did look at some other stoves in relation to price and this one... it's just too expensive for you get. Sorry to say for the Primus - I like the brand -, but an old Bleuet 206 is less pretentious and the Crux... an all time fool proof sturdy small and light classic. Thanks for commenting! Good review (subs for that). For me what i really like about this product is a unique design and the concept about compatibility. And i think it still a rough design, hopefully PRIMUS develop firestickstove to have new and better model while also better funcionality (like MSR pocket rocket - MSR pocket rocket Deluxe). But still i'm buyung it just for collection.

    I can only say that my experience of the Primus Firestick has been nothing but a positive and it contradicts all of your appraisal. Brilliant stove, windproof, simmer control excellent, the folding pan support clings to the base of my Soto river pot like poo to the proverbial blanket. As for the separate ignition stick, does anyone rely on piezoelectric, even if it's an integral part of some stoves? I've never been backpacking without a lighter in my pocket ever. I value your opinion but as I say, my experience of this stove is nothing but good.

    Hi GP, Thank you for this positive comment and I am happy you like it. That I have a different experience is what it is and I like that you balance it. I don't like making negative reviews... Do you have experience with older Primus piezo stoves? I do and that is why I rate it different. Lately Primus is putting more and more stuff on the market that is not as well build as in the past. At least that is my experience and why I still use the old Etapower with integrated piezo that much. And yes: I do carry a lighter and a fire steel 😉. Enjoy the Outdoors and Stay Safe! Cheers, Gijs

    @@OutdoorguruGearReviews It actually would be very interesting to know more about Primus and their designers and engineers. Primus is (or was?) a company that make their equipment in Sweden with high quality materials and manufacturing processes. During the 90's I think they outsourced some of their stove design to Japan that made some very high quality stoves. Check out the PRIMUS EXQUIZA EX-ULT-1A for example. Niot the lightest stove but a very good design. Robust, good in wind with the larger and stable pot support. Also has a very nice wood knob.

    I had the old Primus stove you've got for 9 years, it needed extra wind protection but otherwise worked really well. The Firestick is limited to bigger pots, there is no way it would support smaller GSI or Jetboil style pots.

    Hi Juris, Well, bigger pots only with a big gas canister... or a small one with extra canister supports. With a big pot it is sort of stable, with the small canister and a big pot: no way, it tips over very easy. I forgot that in the review somehow. And thanks for being a commenter - is that the word - to videos I do. It helps me get my bearing. Enjoy the Outdoors and Stay Safe! Cheers, Gijs

    @@OutdoorguruGearReviews Perhaps it would fit smaller pots, I previously overlooked the teeth support at the top. StilI, from the Primus collection I would go for one of the Microtrail stoves; they are 30-35 EUR cheaper, have similar energy output and, as you mentioned, fewer parts to lose.

  • @OutdoorguruGearReviews

    If I buy this one does it still work after..say thirty years? Not so worried about wind. Lightweight is the way to go and in my opinion integrated ignitor is equally dead weight since lighter and matches will come with me anyways. Well is there better and cheaper? Sure but do I lose them in the woods? Do you think coffee would taste better with more expensive stove? I mean if you protect yourself from the wind and rain compared to the ones who expose themselves to the wind and prepare their coffee in the rain..with their CHEAP, broken, few grams lighter with dead weight, unbranded, twelfth stove?😊 Just challenging you. "My decision has been done". I will buy this as my first stove just to fit with my new Hilleberg. It will be used maybe ten times a year. Let's see if I need another one..

  • @OutdoorguruGearReviews

    @OutdoorguruGearReviews

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hi Markus, I like challenges! But... No, it will not work after 30 years it is to flimsy build to last. And don't use it in or near your nice Hilleberg: the Firestick is not that stable. The piezo...yes dead weight and not very good either. But you pay for it so you throw away money. If you want to do that: throw it to me and buy me ko-fi😜. The money will be well spend since I just screwed up a mic... There are for sure better, smaller, lighter and maybe cheaper stoves out there and yes... you might loose it in the woods but would you loose your Hilly? The coffee will taste better with a better stove; like a super tent performs better than a not so super tent. Would you sleep in a leaking tent? I challenge you 😇. Enjoy the Firestick; designwise it is a cuty! Cheers, Gijs
