Primal Rage an In Depth Look at the Debug Menu

In this video I take an in depth look at the entire debug menu found in Primal Rage 1. This video shows everything and gives an explanation of what each item does. Some of the items do not work or look weird for some reason but other times look fine, like the AI Debug Info which looks fine sometimes and not fine other times, I couldn't get it too look alright when making this video so I will tell you what it's supposed to show on the bottom. It's supposed to show AI button presses, in Primal Rage the AI does the same button presses and motions as a player just inhumanly fast. I am sure this is how other fighting game AI's work but its really cool seeing the AI input the moves just like a normal person would, I might see if I can get a clean version of this debug info later. Primal Rage Buttons Key:
HQ = High Quick = Button 1
HF = High Fierce = Button 2
LQ = Low Quick = Button 3
LF = Low Fierce = Button 4

@Gruntzilla94 The pizza shop where I work has an original Primal Rage cabinet in the lobby, rented from some arcade company. I googled the service menu trying to find out any information on how to access it on the original hardware. Can you give me any help?

Very nice. I'm more interested in the hitboxes and such than anything. These tools let you make framedata if the logic is proper on an arcade machine.

At least I know (to some aspect) as to why both me and my Dad would waste lots of tokens on this arcade game : neither of us cheated and that thing cheated like bloody hell on lots of moves! Anyhoo, thanks for uploading these videos. I enjoyed hearing the arcade BGM once more. 🦖
I was trying to play this on mame 201 and when you knock down a character they will fall and land above the floor a bit. .Does this still happen on this version of mame do you know?

All versions of MAME including the current latest, MAME 0.262, has this issue. This is due to unemulated protection.

The sprite viewer is awesome. do you think you can do a sprite view for all the characters?

I can do it for other characters. If I do, I might use Diablo and Chaos instead of Sauron and Blizzard. It's the same sprites but because they are smaller they don't have a lot of the upper sprites appearing through the text on top. However other characters still go through the bottom of the screen and still show a little on the text above just because of the way the sprite viewer works.

No special rom needed. I will post a MAME cheat that will allow others to use the debug menu soon.
