Primal Rage 2 [Arcade] - play as Meta Kaze / Blizzard

Ойындар

This is a play-through using Meta Kaze in the Arcade game Primal Rage 2. Read on below for more information...
Meta Kaze is a hidden character in this game. He is a hidden playable character.
===== About Meta Kaze =====
"Meta" Kaze is an alternative version of regular Kaze. The main difference that Meta Kaze has is that he can permanently transform into his beast god Blizzard and remain as him; and when as Blizzard he can also transform back into Kaze as well. You can do this as many times as you want and it doesn't require the Rage Bar.
Kaze is your samurai character for Primal Rage 2. His sword gives him quite long ranged basics... but always remember that his sword can be hit as well, which counts as Kaze himself being hit! ¬_¬
Blizzard is the Yeti beast from the previous game, with his trademark freezing ice powers.
===== Additional Information =====
---- Kaze was originally named as Ronin.
---- Only one arcade cabinet of the game is known to exist, and it can be found at the Galloping Ghost Arcade in Brookfield, Illinois in America.
---- The story of Primal Rage 2 was written into a novel in 1997, titled: Primal Rage: The Avatars.
===== About Primal Rage 2 =====
The game is the cancelled sequel to Primal Rage. Atari started development on PR2 in 1995, and it was set to be released in late 1996 or the first half of 1997. The cancellation happened due to the diminishing popularity of arcades which led Atari into thinking that the game would not generate enough sales. Ken Humphries, senior producer of the home versions of the original PR, stated that home ports of PR2 was planned.
Compared to PR1, the most notable difference of PR2 is that the game features human characters to play as. They are known as the Avatars.
Storyline-wise, these human Avatars are selected by their Gods (the beasts) to fight against the minions of Necrosan in order to release the Gods from their imprisonment by Necrosan, and also take on Necrosan himself.
Character-wise, the game begins with a choice of the human Avatars to select from and play as. The Gods/beasts themselves can also be selected via a hidden input on the character select screen, which done by simply holding UP on an Avatar until the Beast appears. Additionally, you can also select an extra "Meta" version of a human Avatar by holding UP on a Beast. This extra version of the Avatar allows in-fight permanent morphing into the Beast and vice-versa, which means you get both the Avatar and Beast available in a match.
Gameplay-wise, it is of the familiar Primal Rage style gameplay with chain combos and SF style special move commands. There is a move called the Rage Morph which allows you to morph into your Beast or Avatar to perform a string combo before morphing back.

    Not gonna lie, a samurai titan turning into an ice gorilla seems like an awesome superpower imo.

    I am sort of glad this never got released...PR1 is one of my fav arcade games ever. I really hate how they made them giant humans in this one, trying to ape Killer Instinct but failing and the characters just looking ugly and weird. I would have much rather they just put that time effort and money into making 6 or 7 more cool dinosaurs instead. Give us a massive roster of claymation dinos, now THAT would have been lovely. Most importantly though, the large dinos seem to have lost all their "weight" in this. If you've ever played PR1 you know what I'm talking about - they all *felt* right, it actually felt like you were controlling these massive creatures. PR2 is far too sped up and the animations not given enough frames.

    19:15 There are actually many more frames of Kaze's finishing move that stream from the hard drive. It looks like the system crashed or the watchdog Interrupt Service Routine reset the game. I put in the watchdog ISR so that the game can't get caught into an infinite loop. If the main loop doesn't reset the watchdog counter, the timer interrupts will increment it until it automatically forces a soft reset. This is so the game is never left in blue screen/black screen hang at the arcade. It would be nice if they could play the full animation sequences that are in the game. Perhaps this bit of information will help someone in the future.
