Prettiest Little Girl In The County - Norman & Nancy Blake

Музыка

In the hills of northwestern Georgia, Norman Blake carries on the tradition of old-time country music like a master craftsman preserving an endangered art form. He discovered his life's vocation when he was sixteen. He met Nancy Short in 1972 when the band she was playing in was booked as his opening act. They married two years later and have performed and recorded together ever since. This DVD collection presents their unique musical blend from 1980 to 1995.

It’s a 30s slothead d-18. I think his was a 33 if I’m not mistaken. Need to ask my dad again haha. We got the chance to play one just like it about 8 years ago or so. Had the best sound out of any Martin I’ve had the pleasure to play

It is, he would file down the saddles himself, and only where the strings sat on the bridge

There's a good chance it's his 1930s D18H (H for Hawaiian). It would be a 12-fretter designed as a lap guitar which he had modified to play "Spanish-style". The 12 fret dreadnaughts puts the saddle further back on the body to keep the same scale length so when the top resonates it has a distinct tone. Jsckson Browne loves his 12 fret Roy Smeck Gibson models for the same reason.
