This information is so great and true. I had a baby boy that was born at 22weeks weighing 1lb 2oz in 2014. He is now 9yrs old and doing great. I just had another baby boy oct 1 2023 who was born at 27weeks. He was 2lbs 1oz. He is rocking the boat. With both my kids docs can’t believe how amazing they doing. Please moms listen to these 2 awesome people. What they saying is so true and can be so scary as a mom to deal with. Moms stay strong and I wish you all the best.

I am a NICU survivor. My baby was born at 25 weeks gestation. He had BPD and ROP. He is now 27 years old and very healthy. Long term he has asthma due to the BPD. While listening to this, I was taken back to the anxiety and stress of that time. It was extreme. This is like a long term rollercoaster ride. It continues even after you bring your baby home. It wasn’t until my baby was 2 that I could begin to see him as a normal healthy baby. My tip is to learn to manage your stress. Take time to care for yourself. Be mindful of the stress other family members may also be experiencing. Get help if it overwhelms you. This in turn can cause post partum depression. I joined a NICU support group. Because I had other young children at home my husband and I traded days for visiting the baby. We also took a weekly 2 hour break to relax with no duties. I spent a lot of time at the library. He jogged.

My baby is currently in the NICU. I gave birth to my precious boy at 29 weeks 20 days ago because of severe preclampsia. I was not ready at all for this. So many thoughts ran through my mind. It's rough everyone. It sucks to go home everyday without him, but I know he's getting the care that he needs to get better so he can be home with us. I love all the staff and they are so supportive on my needs and baby needs. Some days I go home and cry for hours asking what I did wrong? Even thou I didn't do anything wrong, but I just keep praying and continue taking it one day at a time and stay positive as much as possible.

Thank you so much. I have a preterm baby of 34 weeks in the nicu at the moment. And we were ahead of him probably being delivered early due to preeclampsia and plasenta previa so it was truelly educational and relaxing to know this all before hand. İt made me understand what each iv stand for and why he was on antibiotics etc. He is there for a week and mothers milk worked really well on his guts and metabolism.. Probably will take another 10 days or two weeks maximum for him to come home as he isnt able to eat/swallow yet. Bur luckily all others are great. I think he greatly benefitted from the steroid shot i got two weeks before he arrived, and the magnesium iv before the day he was born. As he was able to breath on his own 🙌🏾 Wishing all other preterm babies and their families good luck and a fast reunion ❤️

Thank you both for making this video. I wish I had more knowledge when I had my oldest who was born at 29 weeks due to hellp Syndrome and preeclampsia. I was not even awake when she was born nor did I get to meet her for three days because I was in ICU and she was the in the NICU. She’s my little miracle. When I had my third child, 4 years later (also a daughter) and developed preeclampsia at 30 weeks, I was able to stay in the hospital on and off on magnesium and keep her until 34 weeks. By then I was done, I told the doctors she can suck, swallow, and breathe! Take her:) Thank you again.

But I check my body temp on my forehead it is normal but then I check it on my chest too and it reads as a high temp, should I be worried? Not sure if I should be checking my temperature on my chest??? Am I being too anxious??

27 weeks now with a cerclage. Me and my sister were each born at 34-35 weeks, likely due to undiagnosed cervical issues in our mom which I may have inherited. Last TVU measured my cervix at 8mm after it had been holding steady around 18. I am so nervous she will come early, especially since my wedding is in 3 weeks. I have an amazing team looking after us but I will be so relieved if we can make it to at least 34-36 weeks.

I had my baby at 21 weeks and 5 days. My Dr keeps telling me that it was better that it didnt happen a few days later because they might have been able to save the baby, but babies born this early are likely to be severely handicapped. To me all i can think is that in a few more days she might have had a chance. Im reading all about 22 week babies with good outcomes. I feel like her bias against saving extreme premature infants effected her decisions, as she wanted the baby to be born before there was any question of viability. My water broke and i was in active labor, so its unlikely they could have done anything differently, but 1 of the drs said there was a small chance they could try to hold the baby in for a few more days, but my Dr. told me the baby had no chance and rushed the delivery.
