Pressure cooked corned beef

Ойын-сауық

My new favorite way to cook corned beef, in the pressure cooker. I've cooked corned beef every way possible and this method, I think, produces the best results. #inkidreferralcode tomstestkitchen

Before finding your video I had ordered the same pressure cooker, I received it today and thankfully your video shows me what to expect when using this particular model, I'm not new to pressure cookers but am new to this model. I also love corned beef and usually make mine in a covered Dutch oven inside the oven which comes out great. However I'm going to try it in the pressure cooker this year just for fun to make a comparison. Thank you!

I cook the veggies in a separate dutch oven on the stove top while the beef cooks in the pressure cooker. That way, you can control how much you want the veggies to be done.

Presto Stainless pressure cookers are the best! Mine is a 6 qt, with the old school center weighted “rocking” cover, and I adore the metronomic rhythm of it. I know this video is many years old, and I hope you’re still using your Presto. I’ve got a corned beef brisket going in mine right now.

I agree about this pressure cooker model. I have a couple expensive ones (non electric) pressure cookers that don't compare to the ease and outcome. You can put your cooker under water to bring the pressure down, when done cooking if you are in a hurry. Thanks

It worked great. Sliced .5" thick in pot with 1.5 c water, beer and spice packet. Cooked 20 min- quick release- checked that meat was tender- added potatoes and carrots- cooked 3 minutes- quick release- cabbage wedges- cooked 1 minute- quick release. Done. This is a similar way I make beef stew.

Hi this is a great way to keep the flavour in for sure. One thing everyone might like to think about is the depressurization of your cooker after the the cooking time is up, the running water over it trick, to speed up rapidly the pressure drop process so you can get the lid off in quick time is widely used. If you imagine at the end of the cooking time the pressure, anything from 10-15 psi inside the cooker is equal right thru the liquid, air and any other matter in it, like meat or the spuds etc. If you depressurise too quickly the pressure around the matter reduces very quickly and the matter then has a higher pressure and thus a lot of moisture can be lost quickly into the cooking medium as the meat or solid matter equalises its pressure to the same as that around it! If you think it all tastes good now try letting the cooker come back to normal atmospheric pressure naturally and you will have an entirely better result. you will remember for sure some potatoes with eruptions in the side of them? this is the result of that equalization as the pressure suddently drops. enjoy your cooking!!!

I have never used any brand of pressure cookers. first, which brands have you tried? And is the Presto still your favorite? Also, just to be clear on the instructions. You said bring the pot to pressure over high heat then turn it down to medium heat or until the steam is NOT coming out and set a timer for 60 minutes after it's come to pressure. Then after 60 minutes, turn the heat off and let the pot naturally depressurize for 60 minutes.

This is a very good Presto Pressure Cooker. I have one like that, but I purchase a Cusinart Electric Pressure Cooker not so long ago and I can tell you it makes cooking easier and as fast as this Presto Cooker. Corned Beef is 45 min. The cooker regulates the pressure by itself, the timing is automatic, no watching or adjusting heat like these stove tops pressure cookers. Just fix it and forget it. Potatoes and cabbage, and also carrots, cook in an additional 3 Min. for this recipe. I simply will not use the stove tops pressure cookers, and I have 3 of them. They cannot compare with my Cuisinart electric pressure cooker by far. I use this cooker for almost everything. Vegetables, rice, roast, roasted chicken, soups, etc. Sorry, stove top pressure cookers.

Presto makes the absolute Best pressure cookers, mine is over 50 years old that my Mother gave me. LOL that cooker you have still has the "jiggly thing" 15# pressure weight. the new cookers have them built in because irresponsible people loose them :-) as a chef I don't like them, because they really aren't free floating and you don't get the true pressure. Electric pressure cookers on the other hand are the bomb in the kitchen they do everything for you and really allows the home cook to easily produce good food.

+triumphmanful you can let the steam out fast when cooking food, but most people advise against it because they are canning with a PC, not cooking. If you let the steam out quick with canning your jars can explode. that's why most people hear the advice not to let the steam out quick.
