Lisa, I made vege soup over the weekend. I started with an 8 qt. Had to go to a 12 qt and finally she rested in a 20qt water bath pot. I had to stop because I didn't have a larger pot.

Your hair looks great with the highlights. Thanks for standing firm with your by the book canning methods. When I hear people insist they do this or that and it never caused problems I tell them the cemeteries are full of young people who died of unexplained illness from the 1600s through the 1940s.

Although I am not a huge fan of stuffed peppers, I think I would like this. One thing ... when I was a new canner (2 1/2 whole years ago LOL) i was taught when filling jars with both solids and liquids, to use a slotted utensil to first add the solids and then use a ladle to top the jars off with liquids. That may make it easier for some newbies. I appreciate how detailed you are with your instructions and look forward to more amazing videos using your fresh produce. I, myself, am a "grocery store farmer" so I live vicariously through others' videos 😊

I canned the pepper soup for the first time last year. We liked it so much I canned some more again this summer. I cook rice and we ladle the soup over the rice. Yummy!

I canned 14 jars of unstuffed pepper soup 2 weeks ago..I love it! Another good tip...go ahead & cook up some rice ahead, drain well & keep a bag of it in the freezer & take out what you need for your soup (or you can bag it up in smaller bags) Then it really is just a matter of heat & eat all in one pot.

I'm going to try that recipe! I was able to buy a treasure trove of canning jars from canner who was downsizing. They are very well taken care of and as I go through them I noticed that many of them are older. A few names I've not heard of but they look and feel sound. Since there are so many I'll probably save some of those for special.

I probably won't have time to can this but I'd love to! I didn't grow more than a handful of produce this year, but peppers are cheap and I know my family would like this recipe. It was helpful to see you in action, because I totally would have stressed more over the "half solids, half liquid" rule. I see I can quickly fill the jars without perfectly (and painstakingly) measuring the half amounts.

@@SuttonsDaze oh yes ! Soup FD beautifully. So does bone broth and everything else. One of these days your going to have to try it. I swear I spent a fortune on FD foods and I decided to pull the trigger last year. Bought a medium HR VD …. Total game changer! You don’t need any special outlet for it but you of all people would love it ! We do spaghetti, ham, veggies, meatloaf, mashed potatoes, biscuits and gravy, eggs, milk, cottage cheese, sour cream, sour dough starter, fruit, salsa …you name it. My other half travels a lot and it weighs nothing in his suitcase and it’s a ready made meal with hot water. I promise you would love it ! Best part it’s all homemade and nothing will ever go in the trash in your fridge. Or out if your pantry for that matter because you can FD that too when it’s reaching its age. 😊. Message me with any questions I still can but boy do I love the FD so so much

About your "less is more" comment about the Italian spices/herbs... when you reheat it, it's easy to add a little bit more to taste but it's really super hard to dilute out what is already in there . I have a terrible time getting the spices right the first time around.

Love your recipes and the versatility of them. I understand wanting to lesson time in the kitchen, what I will never understand is wanting to spend time doing something (like canning safely) only to do something that could make you very sick. If I am canning something that would be amazing with rice or pasta - I will cook the rice and pasta night of. Take Good Care 🥂

I am for sure going to make this soup. I sure wished I could afford ForJar lids, but they are not in my budget. I pick up lids wherever I can. Gotta do what you gotta do.

Rabbits had a ton of pepper plants. I just got jalapenos. 1000 I think of Romas. I got a couple of years plus of pickles and relish. I killed a monster Cushaw squash by stepping on the stem. Probably near 15 pounds already. Next one I hope not to have to eat right away too. Darn should get more rice for this next summer. Will cover pepper plants next year.

I think I might have found out why I always (well 80-90% of the time) get a cracked jar when I’m canning! I give it a little too much finger tip tightening! I thought I needed to because I had siphoning of my cans during my canning!

I would really like this on my shelves too. One of my favorites. Instead of mincing my garlic, I grate it.

This looks so very comforting!! I do have a couple of questions on it though for what i have canned already to use with this. Can I use ground pork instead, as I have ground pork from 99 cent pork but sales. Can i also use my own plain tomato sauce and plain diced tomatoes i have canned? I have a tonnage of sweet banana peppers and this is a blessing that you have posted for me to use them with. Ive already pickled, roasted, relished all the peppers that 2 people can use for a good while - and that includes some Christmas jars to give away too. I needed a couple more ideas.

My peppers flowered all summer, and never once set a fruit. Very discouraging. Yours look great.

Oh, Leisa, you have made me so hungry, and it's only 9:46 a.m....lol. I just love the idea of this soup, but I am a little worried that there may not be enough soup liquid when it comes time to reheat it with the rice. Would be a good idea to also can up some extra bottles of just the broth and tomato sauce part of this recipe just in case I need more liquid for my soup? I don't want to use less solids in my jars because that is the best part. Can you please give suggestions. Also, I would love to make some unstuffed cabbage soup, [also known as Glumpki], do you have a recipe that does not use tomato soup? Well, I am off to finish canning up the rest of my cucumbers into a relish. I got so many cucumbers off of my vines this year that I probably won't have to grow any for the next two years, nor will I have to buy any kosher dill pickles...lol. The neighbor on my left brought me a large box of pears from her tree yesterday and informed me that my neighbor to the right side of me has so many pears on their tree that the limbs are touching the ground. So I will be doing pears the rest of the week also. It has been a fantastic year so far. May God always Bless you with good health, safety, and prosperity in all you do. I love, love, love your channel... Thank you Leisa. ~SuzyJC-in-Central-Southeastern-Ohio_09.06.2023~
