I was stationed at Bitburg from 1983 - 1987. Brings back a lot of memories. My four years there were some of the best years during my twenty years in the U. S. Air Force.

MAGA!
I arrived in the Bitburg/Spangdahlem area in Aug. '85 so I missed President Reagan's visit. There was still a lot of talk about his visit then. I'm glad to get to see this video of the speeches at Bitburg Air Base. (Sure miss living in Germany.)
President Reagan and Chancellor Kohl were true leaders. They shared common goals like peace and liberty and the actions needed to strive for these goals. Well Done. I hope both R.I.P

Reagan was the guy that created corporate greed and unleashing billionaires with his tax cuts. He is the #1 reason America has a rust belt today.
I was honored to participate with other AF brothers/sisters to set-up this visit on a detail from my squadron (601st TCS). Got to stand down front and watch him arrive and speak. it was very powerful and a day I'll never forget. Great President!

Hi Rtrooper. Do you recall the decoy pulling up in the limo getting out and waving? Then getting back in the car and driving off. Then the real President Reagan pulled up.

I remember watching this on AFN, while stationed near the West-East German border, further east of here. This made and still makes me proud to be an American who helped keep western Europe stay safe from the evil Soviet hordes from the east, who wanted to enslave and rule the free peoples of the West. This is America in it's true greatness. I Salute my former CNC, President Reagan, and Chancellor Kohl for their leadership for protecting and saving Freedom in Europe.
I was there…. I’m trying to find more footage of the crowd
I was there when he visited bitburg I was there from 1984 to 1989 elementary school
I had the honor of being there that day.
Funny to see the bird in the beginning, falcon I believe. Shoutout to the BASH people

Only knew about this event coz of ‘ that ‘ Ramones song, being born in June 1991 as I was. I feel the sense of conflict that surely Jews like Joey Ramone felt over Reagan’s decision to make this visit, ceremony & address (Joey was very opposed & for myself not having a connection to Nazi atrocities, I can’t say I’m opposed to this event involving Reagan, but I am ‘ emotively moved ‘). Was it the wrong choice? I think it just had to happen to attempt to retain the post-war union that the US & Germany had & still do have established. I think it was conducted for the correct reason, even if it came with ‘ distasteful consequences ‘. Just my opinion on a historic event, hopefully I haven’t rattled anyone who reads my words, but I do invite discussion if you desire to challenge something in my post. Love to the Jewish community, the Holocaust survivors alongside the dead, soldiers & families on both national sides, whom I hope will continue to maintain the sense that we are all just homosapiens, humans, animated meat if you prefer haha, never to be persuaded to murder one another over what is honestly ‘ squabbling ‘ over beliefs 💜💋

Not forgiving and forgetting , no, never forget. But a family member of mine, who was arrested by the SS and spent the war being incarcerated in 4 concentration camps: Wronki, Dachau, Auschwitz & Ravensburg … when she listen to the news about the hell raised by the media and Elie Weasel ….. about Reagan going to a cemetery where SS were buried. She thought that the so called „””controversy” was ridiculous, she recognized that Reagan was not going there to honor the SS. And the media fueled outrage was out of place. This was coming from a person who had every reason to jump on the controversy bandwagon, but no, her humanity knew the difference between SS devils who torched her and put her through horrors for years vs the German ppl and so many others that were buried at this cemetery. BTW, a sad part of Elie Weasel, who led the opposition to the visit, credibility in valuing lives lacked humanity , because he always recalled the memory of 6 million Jewish lives lost, but never acknowledged the other 6-8 million lives Like other nations political prisoners, homosexuals, Gypsies, disabled and many others exterminated in concentration cams by the Germans.
What was the missing audio around 25:25 I wonder? Kind of a poignant moment in Reagan's speech to have to lose to history
We were there from 83 -89 .I thing the schools were closed that day .Because we had to keep our blinds closed at home and stay home.
🇨🇱 Peña 🤝 🎣 amen
This dude literally extolled waffen ss soldiers. Due diligence. That's all I'll say.
I was surprised this speech was not delivered in Reagan's native tongue, Deutsch. Before he paid honor to fallen SS by visiting Kolmeshöhe Military Cemetery. Waldheim anyone? Who won this conflict again? No doubt, Reichsfolk Reagan!
