Exclusive conversation with L&T President & CFO R Shankar Raman. In an interview with BTTV Managing Editor Siddharth Zarabi, Raman says the company is looking at selling its stake in Hyderabad Metro in the next couple of years as part of their non-core business divestment plans. According to the company, several global pension funds and others are interested in buying the stake. Expanding on the company’s plan, he said L&T frequently reviews and if needed divests stake in its businesses. The fresh funds infusion will be used to scale up new businesses like hydrogen electrolyser manufacturing, data centres, semiconductors and e-commerce. In an interesting aside, Raman also talks about how the free bus travel scheme for women in Hyderabad has hit the city’s metro ridership.
