People don't realize how difficult it is to do what Phil Hartman was doing. Constantly shoving food in his mouth, eating while at the same time reading his lines & staying in character while not gagging on the food as he was barely drinking any water (or whatever) to help wash it down. There will never be another one like Phil Hartman.

And the camera work and staging, gosh they must have had a bigger budget than most other seasons of the show. This sketch was seriously rehearsed.

It's like Simpsons predicting the Trump presidency in a flash forward episode from the year 2000. Trump had announced a presidential run in 1999 so his ambitions were well known. Likewise Bill Clinton this episode of SNL is from December 1992, and was already accused of a 12-year extramarital relationship by Gennifer Flowers during the presidential campaign that same year. The commitment to the role here shows how grand a pro Phil Hartman was. Truly a legend. 👍👊👏👏👏
The amount of talent in one skit
“Jim, let me tell you something. There’s going to be a whole bunch of things we don’t tell Mrs. Clinton. Fast food is the least of our worries. Ok buddy?” Prescient! 🤣

Yeah, we knew he was kind of a ladies man, but he was a smart guy and he was good at talking, and he was good at explaining complex issues in a way that most people understood. I miss having a smart president.

Paul Lawrence Kind of a ladies man? He was accused of rape in ‘99 by Juanita Broaddrick - the rape occurred in ‘78 then you had Flowers, Jones, Monica and those are just the ones who came forward!
You so rarely see people actually eating on live tv, and Phil Hartman is stuffing his face here while still delivering his lines. Amazing.
I saw this one when it aired live and it's still my absolute favorite SNL skit.
Gotta give credit to Schneider for that perfectly executed save with the soda.
When you have the audience laughing, clapping, and whistling towards the end. That's a memorable hilarious skit.

@aerodog2 can't you people just enjoy a sketch with out being radical terrorists about everything? I swear. Trump and Fox News sucks the fun out of everything. This is how the people of Iraq must have felt when their conservative party became radicalized.
One of the all time best sketches of SNL.
That’s one of the great skits EVER.

No human does, because humans don't create fire in their bodies. If you don't understand, look up how calories are determined (hint - bomb calorimeter and fire). Humans use chemicals (stomach acid and enzymes) to break down food.
