    Thank you Pete! I've never freeze dried avocados before in my Harvest Right. Looked really good, but I would add a little salt 🙂. Avocados are just so expensive these days and may try it if I see them on sale (not likely these days). I frequently debone rotisserie chicken and freeze dry it. In fact, I'm doing that as I'm writing this with another load ready to go in the freezer once this batch is done. I've been purchasing four rotisserie chickens at a time from Costco when we go into town every few weeks or so, take the skin off (too oily to keep on), and freeze dry the meat. You can't beat the price ($5 per chicken) or raise them and process them for that much! We do have our own chickens on our little 5.5 acre plot, but they are egg layers. I freeze dry a lot of eggs. Cheers!

    As usual, very interesting. I was watching another channel the other day and they didn't put the little "cover" on before they closed the door. Love you guys.

    Thanks, Harvest right figured that there was little to no difference in using the insulated pillow door cover plus it will help keep their cost down. I still like using it and I feel that it does make a difference in keeping the cold in the vacuum chamber.

    Pete is correct, Harvest Right stopped including the pillows a little over a year ago as they concluded the pillows were not needed and caused more problems than they were worth. I purchased my Harvest Right 16 months ago and there was a card in with the machine that said the same. I use my freeze dryer very frequently and have not had any problems w/o the pillow to include any extended dry times out of the norm. Hope this helps. Cheers!

    You can get the avocado now, cut it in chunks, freeze it on a cookie sheet, then put in a Ziploc. Then when your machine comes in put the frozen chunks in. When they are done you can put it up in chunks or you can powder and put up. Then just rehydrate when ready to eat.

    You could have avoided the small bit of browning in the freezer if you covered them tightly w plastic wrap, so no air got to them, but seems to work just fine the way you did it. My husband just got some for me to do, so gotta get busy. Here's some info that may help you and yours. Be safe and God bless and protect you. Our filthy gvt has been torturing and killing our helpless pets and loved ones, using our devices. Many yrs ago, my little short haired blk and tan mini doxy started having violent seizures every month. We took him to vet aftervet and they gave him meds that didn't help. I changed his diet, changed his water, and nothing helped. Sometimes the seizures were so bad he almost died, and we had to rush him to the vets to save his little life. I always cried and prayed when he had these seizures, because it hurt me so deeply to see my baby suffer so bad. Well, about a yr ago, my husband and I were sitting here in our living room and we heard his cell ph make a strange, hi pitched but quiet noise it never made for any reason, and IMMEDIATELY my dog started having seizures! I have been targeted over 30 yrs and never thought that the sick freaks could be deliberately CAUSING the seizures, BUT THEY WERE! I couldn't believe that someone could be so heartless and cruel that they could do such a horrific thing to a helpless little dog!! But they DID! The seizures stopped that day, and a week later my babydog went BLIND. I was heartbroken AGAIN, to see my bay walk into walls, fall down stairs (till we blocked them) and get lost behind a door or the couch!! HEART BREAKING!! His little organs swelled up inside of his belly, and the vet said it was his pancreas. My baby got very sick a couple weeks before Thanksgiving. He was vomitting, had the runs, and refused to eat for me. He was being SHOCKED every hour, night and day, and neither of us could get much sleep. I busted agents AGAIN, using the speakers on this PC to put out FREQUENCIES, hurting my little boy! I unplugged the speakers and then busted them again, using the built in speakers to emit these dangerous frequencies!! I shut down the pc and could still hear a high pitched whine coming directly from the MONARCH TOWER LLC across the street! My baby got so sick he couldn't even lift up his little head anymore and he died in my arms THANKSGIVING DAY about 4pm. I AM HEARTBROKEN and I miss my babydog terribly! THE SICK FREAKS TORTURED AND KILLED HIM just as the had the three prior to him before I realized what they were doing to us!! They are doing these horrific things to HURT US. They are sick satanist freaks who ENJOY hurting helpless, innocent people and animals that cannot defend themselves! Let me also say that they tested other bioweapons on us as well, which cost the life of my longhaired doxy, and nearly cost my life as well, a couple yrs ago. The sick freaks have put nanotech systems in the shots, masks, tests and swabs, and then using the towers to manipulate and control those systems inside the victims. They are also CAUSING inf, disease, organ damage and death w frequencies! WATCH YOUR DEVICES and keep vol low or off and never sleep near any devices!! These sick freaks MUST be stopped! They are deliberately killing us and our loved ones. This is ALL deliberate!

  • @petebeasttexashomesteading

    @petebeasttexashomesteading

    No, putting it in an oven is dehydrating food. This is a freeze dryer that freezes the food in a vacuum chamber, then warms the trays, and the water vapor from the food sticks to the sides of the chamber until the food is completely void of moisture.

    Hey Pete, I usually add the usual suspects to my guacamole... diced Roma tomatoes, onion, etc. Do you think there's enough moisture in those fresh ingredients, if added to the freeze dried avocado, to reconstitute the avocado? Or would it still require some water? Also, have you tried this with the other ingredients added prior to the freeze dry process? This is all very interesting.

  • @petebeasttexashomesteading

    @petebeasttexashomesteading

    You have to reconstitute the avocados first just like you were making fresh guacamole then add your ingredients. There's just not enough water in the fresh ingredients to reconstitute the freeze dried avocados.
