***** About Living Traditions Homestead *****
Living Traditions Homestead is all about living a simple and sustainable way of life. We believe the world has gotten too “busy” and that people are missing out on many of the true blessings this world has to offer. We started as a small urban homestead in Gilbert, AZ and after the city grew up around us, decided it was time leave corporate America and take a big leap of faith by moving our family to the Missouri Ozarks.
We put out 2 new videos every week! Wednesday and Saturday. We hope you will become part of our homestead family by subscribing to our channel and watching as we give up the rat race and live simpler, more fulfilling life in the country.

    A tip for if you store your foods in jars. You can actually vacuum seal your jars using the freeze dryer. Take the shelves out of the freeze dryer (carefully disconnect the wire) and place the jars in the empty chamber. (you can place one of the trays at the bottom to keep your jars from tipping) Tap the leaf inside the circle on the screen and it'll take you to a test screen. Close the door and turn on the vacuum alone. In 1 to 2 minutes your jar will be vacuumed sealed.

    That's actually a great tip for people who could just barely afford a freeze drier and a food saver on top is just over budget. Like, yeah a freezedrier is over 2000 bucks, but an extra 200 bucks on top of that for something you can do just as easily without is just money wasted unless you need a HUGE throughput (but then you won't be buying just one freezedrier anyways)

The title is called : Reverse Stroke | 60 Minutes KZread doesn't allow links a lot of the times. So I'm just going to put the title up. Big pharma holds so much back from us. 2015 we lost a doctor. He found an enzyme being produced in individuals that had autism autoimmune cancer many other issues. Nagalase. He was having a Canadian couple who were pharmacists this married couple was tired of seeing people suffer having to pay for medicines instead of food. So they made their own pharmaceutical company. He and they were found red handkerchief. Proclaimed sadness took them out if you can catch my drift without saying the s word. The couple was found together. Kevin, skip the jars for your hunting/camping stash: I put mine directly into baggies to which I add the water when ready to use and then ‘dunk’ them into hot water for 5 minutes. Additionally, before I head out I can add some fresh cheese if I want. Cut bag open, or eat out of the bag itself. Three benefits; no waste from what remains in the jar, no clean up, and no breakage. Easy peasy ziploc omelets.

    The problem isn't lack of food as we currently produce enough food worldwide to feed several billion more people then we currently have. It's the ability to pay for said food once it's produced. Producing food is a lot of work and costs money. I think it would be more productive to encourage people to learn how to garden and actually have one to help produce their own food. As well as encouraging people to learn about things like canning among other preservation techniques to have their own emergency store of food for disasters. Lastly freeze dryers aren't cheap and can easily set you back several thousand dollars for a home setup. Doing that on a wide scale would cost quite a bit of money as well given the scale that it would require.

Just the same as you wouldn't pay the mortgage of your neighbor if they find themselves underwater now would you? You cannot help anyone who first doesn't want to help themselves. The countries that would ultimately fit the bill have no obligation to fix problem that aren't theirs especially when that money could be used to fix problems in their own nations. Tip: I've never done freeze drying, but I have done a lot of dehydrating in the past. Try drying the egg yolks and whites separately. Dried yolks, because they have a high fat content, end up with sort of a waxy texture, while the whites become a brittle film and can be powdered easily. Reconstituting the whites is easily done with water (or cold chicken broth). The yolks absorb water (or cold chicken broth) and a tiny bit of oil to replace the fat. You can always make scrambled eggs by combining about half and half of each but you also have egg whites for making meringues and other fluffed egg white dishes. The whites will fluff up as long as you don't over hydrate them and allow them to sit for a few minutes to allow the proteins to reform and link up. In my experience, drying them separately results in a less grainy/gritty texture scrambled egg - maybe because the yolks don't fully hydrate as fast as the whites when they are in "whole powder" form.

I have not even thought about FDing yokes and whites separately. I make my own mayonnaise and only use the yokes. Great idea! I have 8 dozen eggs to freeze dry so I think I will separate out one whole tray so when the girls stop laying, I will still be able to make mayonnaise. Thank you!

    Ive watched this video several times, and Kevin quickly cutting off a piece of omelet before Sarah could put siracha sauce on it never fails to make me laugh - as does his vehement "no" when she asked him if he wanted the sauce on his piece 😆

    This was perfect timing. We have some new neighbours who moved in a few months ago and are living off grid. We have helped them out a few times and they offered to me the use of their Harvest Right freeze dryer. Then i watched the video of you guys buying yours. I can hardly wait to try it out. Thank you for the great tips especially about freezing the vegs etc first before drying. As i am all about conserving energy. Great video.

    Get one. We waited 2 years....hmmming and hawing.... finally gave in and so glad we did. Love it. Onions, peppers, quail eggs (114 eggs fit on 1 tray), bananas (taste way better than dehydrated), pineapple too.

    Use ice cube trays to freeze scrambles eggs prior to freeze drying them. Ice cube shapes would be much easier than liquid form and be much easier to take premeasured portions to rehydrate as well.

  • @Hitmangordo

    @Hitmangordo

    @@bobbiejofouts1708 you can boil, microwave, roast enough they are dry so they will work in a coffee grinder. I would say roast about 350 for 10 minutes to kill e coli you don't want that in the garden or compost pile.
