Prepping For Relaxation This Winter at the Log Cabin
#logcabin #relaxation #cozy
To prepare for relaxation this winter at the log cabin (actually, my wife and I had the first fire in the woodstove a few nights ago when it got down close to freezing), I reassemble the wood stove, including cleaning the glass, replacing the rope gaskets and hooking the chimney back up. I get up early and cook blueberry bannock (I planned to have pancakes, but I ran out of milk and eggs).

This outdoor kitchen is really hitting at the very bulls eye of my constant dreams & plans. Thank you for this video. I can enjoy watching this over & over again. Just watching this is taking all the stress & tension out of me. Showing a tangible picture of what's possible. This should be tagged also as an ASMR video! For real.
ground coffee made on a wood stove and then drinking it whilst watching the trees .. nice.
Good to see I’m not the only one who drinks gallons of strong espresso. The only difference is you drink it in a heavenly setting, I drink it as a momentary escape from my concrete jungle.
Your videos are so relaxing to watch and for some reason I feel like having pancakes with blackberries and a strong cup of coffee at 11 pm.
That rocket stove is about the most versatile thing in the world and I bet that cup of coffee was awesome.
This is the kind of video that relaxes you and humble's you at the same time , Thankyou for that connection
OMG, to be sitting there with a cup of coffee, enjoying the sunrise with my dog. Nothing pressing on me to do except at my pace. I wish I could go back & redo my life to be like yours. I might not have developed my heart condition, high blood pressure, diabetes.......the list is endless. I guess I'll just continue to live it through you. Thank you, Shawn.
Amazing what you can say without saying a single word..... Message received. Something peaceful about the bush come this time of year.... Grest video BTW.

I must confess, I found myself on Amazon yesterday looking at percolators. The coffee just looks so good. Drip or Keurig coffee looks almost clear when it's poured. That percolator joe looks dark and rich.
So relaxing to watch. TY for sharing your paradise
I enjoyed watching you refurbish the stove very much. It struck me as a great choice to purchase a decent used stove, it seemed to serve you well over the winter, and now I am glad to see you re-invest in it. Re use is better than recycling. Best wishes from North Carolina.

Yay i bet you’re happy to have that over with. Winterized but with a beautiful rock wall and mantle! You got a lot done this year! such a nice home! Any more wildlife footage?❤️❤️❤️
That burlap bag is a nice touch for hiding whatever brand of coffee that was. Plus, it really fits in with the cabin's overall style & feel much better. I also like how you're showing how to maintain and clean the pieces of the stove. It's not just an idealized life; there's a lot of work, a lot of things people don't even think about in our modern, convenience-saturated lives. I like how you willingly (at least on camera, lol) do these things.
What a beautiful calm and windless day. Keep them coming Shawn. Greetings from Slovakia!

So wise to do a maintenance of the wood stove! Last winter, I was having uncharacteristic, continual, asthma attacks - my DH finally figured out that the glue holding the stove back & sides had completely worn out - not only was it a smoke hazard, but a fire hazard too! Great camera work!
Loving the regular uploads, keep up the good work!!
so pretty and cozy in the cabin!
Your morning routine looks infinitely more enjoyable than mine. Kitchen looks great!
Thank you SO MUCH for sharing your life and experience with your followers ...
The entire time you were building the forest kitchen, that side burner was a mystery. Watching you use it, now it is clear how fast it works, how little fuel it uses. It's brilliant!
I will just say WOW! This is just a wonderful channel to follow, Shawn. Sometimes you talk to us with good info. and sometimes you let the nature speak with ”the sound of silence”. You have really got a great cooking setup there.
I love Cali! So sweet ... just adorable !
Your videos always remind me of my childhood... Sitting outside in the fall, late at night, only the campfire burning... Nobody says anything, just stares into the fire, and listens to the wood cracking and burning....
Glad to see the chip in that window pane didn't extend past the rope seal. Was worried you were gonna have to replace it! Great vid!
Your videos are very relaxing. This is somewhat of a life I would want. Very nice and your dog is so funny and cute.

That's definitely the poppa bear's chair. Nice and big.
This is so peaceful.
Shawn, you might want to comment about the courage it takes to start projects like what you are doing. A lot of men I know wouldn't start for fear of failure. You have to get past that to try something new to expand your life. You seem to have an amazing amount of self-confidence.
Sir all your videos are real great and they all are very educational and you are very good at showing use your trade skill. I have two woods stoves in my house and I put a lot of rock's and iron steel from various railroads hardware and I notice that in the morning the room's are warmer then when the top of the stove was empty. So I hope with your new beautiful back stone wall and if your were keeping that big stone able to see the difference like I'm seeing here in my house basement. Sir Best regards and keep up the good work and thank you kindly for the great patience toward the making of these greats videos !
Hey Shawn, the filter in the moka coffee machine (we call it moka in Italy, don't know how you refer to it in Canada) must be completely filled up by coffee powder. No half-way possible with such system! The moka only runs with full load, fixed amounts of coffee in the filter and of water in the bottom reservoir (water must reach just under the pressure valve). The reason is that you need the coffee to be compact causing pressure build up when water starts to boil. That pressure is needed in order to extract the flavors from the coffee. Also, make sure to use the right grain size for the grinded coffee. It must be much finer for the moka than for normal gravity-fed american filter coffee!
@lucianatrambaglio4881
3 жыл бұрын
I am Italian and drink only decaffein coffee, just like Shawn makes it. I do not fill up the filter with ground powder coffee and it is as good flavored as ever. Usual Italian coffee it's too strong for my taste and too small the one from the "bar" !
Living in the woods is the dream seeing beautiful animals breathing fresh air growing your own food and not having to worry whats going on in the rest of the world

Your teaching me to Live In the Moment. I'm sitting watching you work, and find it so much more stimulating than watching the television. Haven't hardly watched any since I've been watching you. Just love your silence ...so relaxing. But do of course love to hear your comments & views.
I missed the parts where you cook your meals!! I really like that and it makes me hungry every time you share it. Looking forward to enjoy your content when it finally starts to get cold here in germany. We don't have a wooden stove or any other "trivial" tech in our house to get it comfy. Therefore I'll enjoy the sound of your stove and the calm of your environment. Your lifestyle reminded me to get outside more often and I am glad that my little son (6 yo) enjoys it too when we walk through the woods. He is Iistening anxiously when I tell him what my granddad told me many years ago. I really appreciate it to spend time outside... the smell of the woods is balm for the soul and it is actually changing my mind. I started to live more conscious (if that is the right word), don't eat meat at least one day a week, reduced the amount of alcohol I used to drink, tried to waive sweets and the excessive use of electric (entertainment) devices and so on. I hope you'll read this and realize how valuable (or actually mindchanging!) your videos are for some people. Please continue your great work and live the dream many people are afraid to live! If I ever get the chance to travel to Canada I would "spend a leg" to have a beer and a great conversation with you at the cabin! Expect more of my (horribly written) comments in the next videos

As a wilderness-happy finn I can say that it is getting there. Lots of good laybor in these videos, and good results. If I ever spot any mistakes, mostly I can find the debate about those errors in the comments, and many of them have been answered and cleared out in the later videos. But if you really wan't to live in such a place over the winter, you need a sauna and a better way to heat water to A) bath, and B) to wash clothes. Sauna with a proper old time cauldron will do it. But it will waste firewood, because of the lack of users. It would take a large family or a small willage to make it energy-efficient. I never go to the cabin between december and february, because of that reason. I wan't to save resources.
