I hope that you enjoyed watching this video of my Family CBRN Kit! This particular video took me MONTHS to finish, but I am pretty happy with how it came out. Here's a link to the PDF that contains a list of all of the items included in this video: bit.ly/2MMA2P5 . As you can imagine, it's tough convincing your 4 year old daughter to put on a hazmat suit and walk around a scary building for a KZread video. Both of my kids really brought their A Games to the making of this video. This video covers just the Clothing aspect of CBRN preparedness, as this is really a vast topic with multiple aspects to it. Thanks again for watching and for your support of my channel! ~Cliff

MIRA Safety is just importing and reselling overpriced products from Czech Republic and Russia. Here are comparison and links to real manufacturer: "CM-7" (in reality called OM-90) - MIRA price $250, GuZu - CZ price $190 (gumarny-shop.cz/product/detail?productIds=313030343432263D30263D303133 ) CM-6M (CZ has more variants) - MIRA price $240, Guzu - CZ price $100 (gumarny-shop.cz/product/detail?productIds=313030363534263D30263D303133 ) KZD-6 - MIRA price sold out, RU price you have to ask (en.protivogaz.ru/catalog/civil-rpe/protective-chamber-for-children-kzd-6 ) "CM-2M" (in reality PDF-2D) - MIRA price sold out, RU price you have to ask (en.protivogaz.ru/catalog/civil-rpe/filtering-gas-masks-for-children-pdf-2d-and-pdf-2sh ) "VK-450" filter for it is old GP-5 filter with new sticker on it (with azbestos!, not even legally sold in Russia!) DOTPRO 320 - MIRA price sold out, RU price you have to ask (en.protivogaz.ru/catalog/filters/sombined-filters/filter-dot-320-a2v2e2k2r3-r-d ) "ParticleMAX P3" (in reality just P3 R) - MIRA price 6 for $150, SIGMA Group - CZ price 1 for $15 (6 for $90) (www.sigmagroup.cz/produkty/ochranny-filtr-p3-r ) The CM-6M you're showing has literally GuZu imprinted on it. GuZu means Gumárny Zubří - translated to rubber plant from (little village) Zubří in Czech Republic. That's said all of those are high quality products used by police/army/firefighters all over the Europe (and elsewhere). Can't vouch for the Russian products. But all of them grossly overpriced.

Hey brother, just a quick note about NSB Kitsap. I served there during the Cold War when it was known as NSB Bangor. I was part of the Marine fleet security responsible for the security of the weapons stored there. There's nothing stored at that base that you should be worried about with regards to nuclear contamination outside of the base itself. The only threat would be the detonation of one or more of the warheads which is nearly impossible. I don't want to say "never" but nuclear weapons don't accidentally go off. 😃I'm only posting this because you really don't need to worry about NSB Kitsap, unless Russia or China decide to attack at which point the entire area would become a massive crater. You earned a new sub today, thank you for being such a great content creator here on KZread.

this is more or less compleatly unrelated but regarding the war with russia im currently in the uk. They've been threatening to bomb major capitals of europe, those being london berlin and paris with there new satan bombs. Not to say it would happen or even if the uk being as fucking tiny as it is would even survive a thing like that, but would what recomended in this video be worth looking into? i have some major anixtey problems and its either i prepare or im just going to get worse. Is the current war somthing to be worried about where im from or not? (the uk tabloids are so fucking annoying, constantly trying to scare the people and im sick of it)

CBRN = Such a huge aspect of preparedness. A pretty comprehensive set of personal protection gear - You should obtain - *Decontamination kits* - these would allow you to carry out personal decontamination and further avoid chemical, residual vapour hazards, particularly whilst wearing non-absorbent suits. I personally, would wear 3 layers under those suits and wear the gloves over the top of the cuffs. (Remember to keep those counters/Dosimeters calibrated)! It's good to see some new 'off-the-shelf' set of CBRN gear available to the public that isn't Govt surplus and that has a great shelf life. Good Job (I would include at least 3 sets per person).

I'm a retired environmental professional. The following is based on my experience with chemical/confined space detection equipment. This kind of equipment is not only expensive, but there are also upkeep costs and time commitments for upkeep. Most of the equipment can not just be stored away. In order to use the equipment, it must be calibrated on a regular basis. Calibration gases and sensors expire. The gases usually expires within a years time and are expensive. Sensors have varying times for expiration but generally expire between 1 to 3 yrs. Please do your homework carefully. You need to put time into learning what kinds of chemicals are in use in your area first. It will impact your decisions. Good luck and great video.

Very helpful to help with the prep' in regards to the situation we are facing in Europe right now, where I am living. Thanks mate. Would you recommend addind some lead aprons to help protect against Gamma ray in the event of a plant explosion ? Is the Hazmat suit single use ( once we have gone out with it to find a shelter for example we cant re-use it and wear it it back on to go out and seek food, help etc ) ? Thanks

Outstanding vid brother. If I may suggest, grab either a pack of paint pens or colored duct tape and mark the top/handle of your bags for quick recognition during rapid deployment. The paint pens you can draw a large shape on the top corners of your bags matching the color of the tag or use the duct tape to wrap the lower ends of each handle matching the color of the tag.

I have over 31 years in the nuclear industry, including 5 years as a level 3 Respirator/ SCBA tech. Before that I worked as a fermentation Microbiologist I can tell you your suit is fine but you would get too hot very quickly and couldn’t stay in it long. Especially if you had to do any real work or just walking. You're better off getting an optically clear vinyl bubble (for your head only) and adding a low flow air pump with a pre-filter, a foam filter and then a hepa filter to supply the hood with positive pressure air. If you were really worried about leaks around your filters, you could add a UV-C tube inside the air line supply tube just after the Hepa filter. No good for toxins or poison gas but probably good for most biological hazards, but use at your own risk because obviously it wouldn’t be a certified suit. The movie Contagion shows a similar suit design. Contagion is a very accurate movie considering the current Coronavirus situation.

Great video. I think the only addition I would make for added peace of mind as well as convenience would be to add a pill/tablet cutter to each of the kids bags to ensure they get an accurate iodine dosage. The last thing I would be wanting to do is trying to cut tablets with a knife during a radiological event. I also wouldn’t want to be fretting and wondering if I have given enough or too much to the children. It would be stressful enough without creating additional worries.

Everyone can have a kit like this but if you live in a city thats known like new York or London your pretty much done for, also depends on how quick you can also get the suit on alot of people dont realise you can't take you suit off once radiation has hit the ground and you would need to have a decontamination kit and many backup suits because just 1 won't last

  • @TheMountainRN

Wow nice kits. My understanding of the use of Iodine tablets is only necessary if possible contaminated food will be used. I would add a pill cutter in there kits if you have to cut them, especially in 1/4.

Great vid brother. Although important, CBRN will always be something I dislike training for mostly because the military forces us to stay in CBRN Gear for a 12+ hours a day for week or so once or twice a year (depending on the installation). 🤷🏻‍♂️ It’s important stuff though and it’s a topic that most civilians are unfamiliar with. 👍

Interesting detailed video ! A few comments. 1) Mira imports for US products as the adult gasmasks, filters and suits, from a Czech well known and highly reliable brand (you see on a filter Made in Czech republik), and the child mask comes from Russia, this is the last version of the former rather good range of child gasmasks of soviet era, with the hose on the nose or on the right cheek. Yet I should check the 40mm thread for the child gas mask, since Russian masks as former soviet and ex USSR satellites use a GOST 40mm thread, not a RD 40 (know as NATO as well) - China uses RD40mm, with right filters and hoses. It looks working, but does not provide a perfect seal and the thread can be damaged with the wrong filter / mask. Just a question, I dont know if Mira does a transformation on the hose. 2) the suit is a sauna suit and can induce a heat threat quickly, the Czech brand provides for long wearing a fully ventilated hazmat suit with several filters - price is not the same ... 3) You think to traditional NBC threats, indeed, but far more likely to happen - and they do happen !!! are threats from wildfires (smoke) AND industrial fires or leaks. Just to know that such a fire happened on 26th September in Rouen France, in the middle of the night, the Lubrizol plant (hydrocarbures, oils) is located at about a few meters up to 1 km from the houses and city center ! and the highly toxic fumes covered the area up to Holland. No evacuation, no sanitary assistance, total denial from authorities. Such respirators could have been useful during the hours of fire (2.45 am up to the evening, not speaking of the pollution since 4 weeks now) . Check Lubrizol Rouen on YT; FB, net ...

A tablet cutter or two might be handy especially if the tablets aren’t grooved to break easier. Even then they can be tricky to split evenly and large hands might struggle to manage breaking them.

11:28 Once you remove that mylar bag that is vacuum sealed, your filter won't last 20 years, but 20 weeks more or less. That filter doesn't have front cap to seal it if use is not required. So store your filters you intend to use package vacuum sealed. Othervise, don't depend on it's protection too much.

Hope that the canisters that you put on the mask were for demonstration purposes only. Understand that they will quickly lose their effectiveness once removed from their protective packaging. the activated charcoal will quickly absorb all kinds of airborne particles and become ineffective in protecting you from CBRN hazards. You will need to have another sealed canister ready for your mask. One thing that the manufacturer will not state is that the canister is only good for a couple of hours in a heavily contaminated environment. You will need to exit the hazard plume quickly and decon yourself once in a safe area. Also, you will need to train everyone on how to donn/doff the gear quickly ensuring that no skin is exposed. Additionally any bug out gear will need to be stored and carried in multiple layered contractor trash bags to keep the bags and contents from being contaminated as well. Hit me up if you have any questions!

There are much cheaper Rd 40 abec filters out there. Enjoyed the video Edit: it's also a good idea to carry a carbon monoxide detector since these filters do not filter carbon monoxide. If you have a filter that does have the special Catalyst then you're only going to get 15 minutes per filter for carbon monoxide and then the usual length of time after that for all the other things

The biggest problem is that none of those preps will be useful if you are to too close to a nuclear blast. Same goes for all those highly organized preps, they may be tossed about or vaporized. This means that you may have to make your preps portable. So you will have to look at potential nuclear targets and fallout patterns for several scenarios, Urban areas and major cities are big targets. There is another issue, the radioactive particles absorbed by the canister itself becomes radioactive. There are other issues to take into consideration, most modern electronics may be damaged due to possible EMP effects AND gamma and x ray radiation damaging semiconductors in the electronics. Now, most nuclear strikes depicted in the media occur during daylight hours in the United States, what is to stop a nuclear warhead from going off in your local vicinity at 3am local time on a work night when everyone is asleep? That goes for any disaster really. It brings up a good question, what can a prepper do to prepare for catastrophic events that may occur while asleep? Here's the scenario, the electric grid goes down, as does the communication grid cell phones and landlines don't work, so even IF you leave your cellphone on there will be no warning. Now you might be able to circumvent this by using satellite communication devices......unless there is an EMP.

As a born and raised Washingtonian, I must say Satsop nuclear power plant never housed or produced anything nuclear. It started being built in the late 70's. It was only about 75% completed before the project was scraped in 1983. It is now Satsop Business Park, a mixed use business park. You can take tours of the cooling towers which they left standing instead of dismantling them. As a business park the facility is used for all types of businesses- ncluding Overstock.com. The facility is also rented as a movie set and was used in Transformers-age of Extinction. Visit Satsop.com
