When I was 11, I was babysitting every day after school. I had a key to their house and got off the bus there. I had a lot to do for $1.00 an hour. My mom also went thousands of miles away for 2 weeks and I was home alone without a second thought. Kids were waaaayyyyy more independant then. So please don't feel judgment about leaving an 18 year old adult there for a few days.

People that think parents of large families rely on the older kids to “raise” the younger kids will be judgmental. But this is obviously not the case with OTOM and I can’t wait to see Belle’s vlog showing us what a fabulous job she did.

I worked in an office of 60 people and we had a bug that kept going round and round. A group of us got fed up, brought in our electric fry pans and simmered garlic for two days. When the other 51 people complained about the smell of garlic it was "if you have a better idea lets hear it". That's all we needed to break the sickness cycle and the smell of garlic eventually went away.

It's seems it's always easier when the kids can stay in their own home with someone who knows their everyday schedules. Yay Belle. I can't imagine cooking for your large family with only one oven. Have you ever thought of hooking an additional one up in the garage? There's a family on YT called Knorpp and South who are remodeling their home and they actually just put two stoves side by side in their kitchen and it looks amazing.

I don't have experience with eating fermented garlic but I've been eating raw garlic when I have a cold or feel one coming on for the past few years and it really does work!!! For me, it takes 1-2 days til I notice the healing effects. With the raw garlic, it's important to mince it up and let it sit for 10mins to give the allicin (that's the healing component of garlic) time to be released. Definitely eat a meal before taking the garlic as it gives some people nausea and it's best to buy organic if you can. I take 1 minced large clove 2-3x/day with meals when I am fighting off a cold. Not giving medical advice...just sharing this in case it helps someone to recover faster or stay healthy : ) I hope you had fun at the Pastor's conference Sarah and Solo!

Since you guys seem to love strong spices I wanted to let you know that some fresh slices of ginger in your garlic ferment take it over the top. It is so good. It is a very strong flavor when you take it and for sure you are not going to get kisses from anybody but it really does help. I try to take it right when I feel something coming on. Also, I have made it with slices of organic oranges added and that is amazing as well.

Ok!!!!! So the hard honey makes the best ever whipped honey!!!! You just get it out as you can and put it in the mixer and start whipping it. You may have to use the paddle at first then switch to the wire whisk attachment. Once it’s whipped it will turn yellow and creamy. Then it can be put back into jars and will last ….FOREVER!!!! We’ll probably not forever😂😂😂. You and your family will absolutely LOVE IT!!!! Can’t wait to see you try it. It’s so wonderful and yummy❤❤❤❤

I use mullein leaf as a tea and it even helps with my lung cancer symptoms. With me having a mucus based cancer it definitely helps. You can also try soursop, blackseed oil (in capsule form or liquid ) , seamoss ( cleaning your own and setting it in your own blender you can add anything you want to it ( we add lime juice to ours only) your toddlers get use to this stuff quicker than the older ones but it's worth it. Also elderberry is good. Taking it boiling out and adding cinnamon sticks and cloves and a bit of ginger and it lasts 2 months but it helps keep you from being sick.

Best part is when you’re done using it you unplug it and store it out of the way. I’d just double check to see if you have pans with a magnetic field such as cast iron, stainless steel.

Garlic is the EASIEST plant to grow. Just stick cloves in the soil, root end down, and forget about them till mid summer when they start to die back. Then pull out of the ground. Definitely would be a great thing to have the kids plant for you! And chamomile is frost tolerant, so you could get that started from seed in late winter! Mine overwintered for me in zone 7b.

Sarah, I saw another large family solve their stove/oven issue by getting two 5-burner ranges and positioning them side-by-side. The ranges had no elevated back but were a flat profile with full-sized ovens and control knobs on the front, not top. They tiled the wall behind and installed a large exhaust vent and lighting overhead. It looked like a commercial unit, instead of two residential units. They said they saved a significant amount of money with that solution.

You have amazing children! Hope you enjoyed your trip! Save time, cook the muffins on your grill top outside. We cook hot water cornbread that way when we have a lot to cook.

Herbs also dry well in a a paper bag, you can tie them up in a bundle and then slip the bag over them, stem end up and then tie a string around the bag & stems and then they are done. This can be done while they are greenish but dehydrating, the paper allows them to dry. I usually take a large brown bag and put the mullein leaves in them. And if you want to harvest the seeds, you can plant them in the areas you want them to grow. right now ours just grow wild around the trees. Plant as many fruit trees as you can, some apple trees live for 150 years, but peach, and plum might last 30 years. So figure out the best time to plant trees and nut trees. These are staples. just cage them to keep the deer from nibbling. We lost our young cherry trees to deer. Aw well.

Here in Poland we do onion syrup for when you get sick. Chopped onion covered in sugar. Takes a day or so for onion to release juices :) it is quite tasty as well. And quicker to do it

Next herb up...PLANTAIN! That stuff is amazing when made into a salve, itchies, owies, burns, bites! We use mullein and I bought empty gel capsules to make pills out of... the thing about Mullien, which you probably know by now that it takes a bit to grow... More hugs~ Lea

You can bake in your treager and it won’t taste like smoke. I have cooked everything from pizzas to cookies to casseroles. that should help with your oven needs.
