PREPARING For Our Off Grid WEDDING (Part 1)
My son's remote, off grid wedding is only a few weeks away now. We have so much to do to prepare! He asked me to help him build a rustic, salvaged-wood bar for the celebration at the reception. This is a new experience for me but I am always excited to learn something new. This will be a two-part video because it proved to be more than a day's work.
As always, thank you for being part of our family. Much love to you all from Alaska!
Peace

I was amused by the priority for the wedding but I assume everything else is purchased or on the way. A bar is a very sociable spot and of course, when father and son construct it together, it creates a special bond too. I loved the 'what do you think' questions all the time - and the evidence of a real partnership in building something so prosaic but beautiful too. Wood is so tactile isn't it. Every blessing with the preparations. You have done all you can in preparing your son for his own life partnership. That's where the long term work has been!

I love your thoughtful comments Jim. Dylan had been wanting me to help him build this for a while now. To me, it is all about spending a wonderful day working with my son. My favorite part was seeing his pride in the project as it took shape. Good memories. I love that boy
I can just imagine the stories your son and his bride will be telling their children and/or grandchildren about all the projects you all worked on together, also the fishing trips, the fun times afterwards while processing and freezing the catch. Your children and grandchildren are so very blessed to have all those stories to pass down through the generations, kind of like the Native Alaskans but a little different. Have fun! Such precious times to be cherished. P.S. Seeing all that used and weathered wood reminds me of when we were stationed in Hawaii, I was pregnant with my 4th & last child, and I was bored. I wanted to build a couple of beds with drawers underneath for my two eldest sons, but no money. So, I would drive to the dump and get old lumber, bring them home, remove the nails, sand them down, and cut them to my measurements. I got the frame completed for both beds, but went into labor. While I was in the hospital my husband decided he could stand the frames on end, put some plywood across the braces and have shelves for his storage shed. I came home from the hospital, saw my beds missing (all that was left to do was upholster them and slide in the drawers and casters). I WAS NOT HAPPY!!! I never did get to make them again. LOL!!! That was one of the many reasons he became an EX-HUSBAND. LOL
Father and Son working together towards the wonderful wedding to come. How lucky are you to have each other. My son is 42 and his son is almost two and I see how they love each and I hope they have the same experiences you two have for the future. Thank you.
Another great video. Thankyou. I loved the look you had at your son measuring you had the look of proud dad congratulations
Congratulations on the pending wedding of your son may you have love and happiness and joy in your lives
I love this! That bar is being built to last forever. Just think...your son and his wife can pass it to their children..with the story that it was made by their father and grandfather for their parents' wedding. How cool is that! A family heirloom that will last for generations. Looking forward to more wedding prep. We ladies enjoy that kind of things...lol. Hope ya'll have a great 4th of July holiday! God bless!

Good morning Cathy. We are going to find many uses for this bar in the future. It will likely be installed in one of our cabins down at the lake below. The wedding planning is in full swing here. I find myself with more projects than I can get to!
Nice details on the Bar. I really enjoy you working with your Son. Good team!
Nothing like "father and son" projects. Miss seeing your gradson too. Love your story.
What I love most about these videos is, of course, Gale's very skilled work ... but also his great teaching style. His family is very lucky to have someone with both these talents!
I am really liking the bar that U2 Construction Cowboys are making. I’m sure it will be quite the conversation piece. Nice job. Thank you.

Amazing isn’t it?! We keep walking around going, “can you believe the snow was up to here just a few weeks ago!!??” Whole different world for sure! We LOVE The idea of having Stella in the wedding! Thanks for the great comment. Warmest regards from your Alaska friends.
You just can't beat the early mornings in Alaska. I was waiting to see you all sitting on the deck drinking coffee as the Sun rises. You guys did a helluva job on the bar. Is that pallet wood you were using? That's my hobby, building things with pallet wood I get free from Lowe's. I'm looking forward to that special day. Thanks for sharing.
Congrats on your son’s wedding. It will be a great one with Alaska’s beautiful all around.
What a beautiful sunrise! I'm waiting for the sun here in Southern Illinois, but it certainly doesn't look as beautiful as that stunning Alaskan skyline! God willing, I'll make it there one day! It's my biggest dream!

Wow what an amazing video, I can't wait to see how you move it and get it indoors , love your videos and seeing your lovely family.
Wow that’s awesome congratulations on your wedding and now to wait until next Friday
Sure looks nice up there this time of year. No way could I take the winters after living in central Florida for so many years. Also at 75 I just couldn't stand it. Old and a big wussy. I wish your son the best with his up and coming marriage. You are sure making a lot of progress on the place. God bless and stay safe.
Beautiful job! 👏👏👏 Love the comradery! ❤❤
How exciting to see the results. Blessings from Connecticut on many years of marriage
Wow thanks again. Love the opening. You all work so well together. Going to be a great bar. But can you lift it. Oh I forgot you are a Rock Star at moving stuff.
The silence right at the beginning is beautiful, hope all goes well in the upcoming wedding, sending all the best from England.

We've been watching your videos since you started building the small, but beautiful, log cabin. It was confusing that you never talked. Then there was Stella and you would say a word or two to her. Then your little grandson started helping you. It was all very mysterious. We wondered about your family. Slowly we have gotten to meet them, And you do talk! 😂 We were so glad to meet Tanya. She's beautiful and a perfect compliment to you, Gale. Now we get to wait for the wedding. Thank You for giving us something special to look forward to each week.

Hello Gale and hello family!! It's good to see you again, very nice project in this video. I think that wood is the noblest material that exists to build things and you certainly know how to work with it. In addition, the stillness and tranquility of the place is something beautiful, ideal to work and even more so to celebrate the wedding! As always thanks for the videos! Hugs for all!! Alex from Argentina.

Wow, Gale I have to tell you, That first 50 seconds of that opening shot. Well is scenes like that, that makes me wish I had moved to Alaska. My daughter told me to come to Fairbanks and I could stay with her there. Then later she moved to North Pole, AK with the same invitation. At the time there was deep snow and all the pavement was solid ice, so I declined because of my health. But that opening 50 seconds sure makes me wish I had reconsidered lol. Thank you for very much all the videos, I so enjoy following your channel. Hope you & yours have a Wonderful Weekend.

Good morning my friend. I did not know you had family in North Pole! Does you daughter still live here? You are never too old to visit the country. It sure sounds like you would enjoy a summer trip
So not only was that a great video… I really truly enjoy watching you build ! And it’s always a special thing dreaming up and building something with your son and Dylan seems to have your eye for figuring out as you. Lol. But the even better part was that while out working today it hit me that today is Friday and you’d more than likely have a video posted for me to enjoy ! And that , my friend , put a big old smile on my sweaty dusty face 😁 take care Gale and happy Independence Day to you and your entire family ! ✌️
Good job guys! Looking forward to part 2.

Good evening Gale...you have become exceedingly skilled at capturing the beauty of your Alaska. The first 50 seconds of this video are so gorgeous I can almost feel myself there listening to the running water. Thank you...........Oh my goodness, where did that adorable puppy come from?? What does Shella think of sharing her Shangrila?? And speaking of Stella.....looks like she was walking around looking for her snow. And then she just plops down in the water where it once was snow. She is so entertaining. I can understand why you love her and pamper her with scratches and kisses. My cats give immense enjoyment and love...............It is fun watching you and Dylan work together. You have taught him well. I do not recall seeing any plans for the rustic bar so I guess you are winging it as you go along which does not surprise me. I like what I see so far. And I cannot wait for the wedding videos.........Peace & love from the northeast......🌺❤⚜
dear so beautiful place but your job more beautiful.amazing sir .
Cool project! You guys should try a planer and scraper before all that nasty sanding.
