Log Cabin Building TIMELAPSE Built by ONE MAN (and Grandson)
Welcome to Alaska! You will enjoy this timelapse video of my Alaskan cabin project. It is a compilation taken from 35 separate videos (of the entire build) published on my channel over the past year. You can find all 35 videos on my channel under the "My Alaskan Log Cabin Project" playlist.
I am an Alaskan. I have lived in Alaska for over 50 years (mostly in log cabins). At 10 years old I worked with my father building our family's off-grid, log cabin. I have never lost my love for the trade.
I have created a set of blueprints for this cabin. They are now available for purchase at thisismyalaska.com, along with a complete material list. Disclaimer: I am not an architect or engineer.
My little helper is my grandson Drox!
The guitar music is by his father Eric.
The book Tanya is reading to Drox is "Paddle To The Sea" by Holling C Holling
The photography is by my friend Tonja LaBuda.
You can view her wonderful work here: tonjalabuda.com or on Instagram @tonjalabuda

OMG your skills are amazing. This is what I’ve always wanted to do as a little girl. 10yrs old I use to get up and watch this old house with bob villa. Back then I couldn’t find anyone to take me serious. Through out the years I’ve collected an arsenal of tools. Just doing small jobs for myself and family. Now at the ripe old age of 65 all I can do now is go back to watching it on tv now KZread. I still get joy from this. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your amazing work.

Having spent many years around Building and Civil engineering I have to say, this man is without doubt the most full range, very capable and talented man I have ever seen. Outstanding workmanship and quality in all he has done. Totally professional unlike anything I have seen in all my years. I am in my late 70s. What a truly wonderful builder. Fully envious of his widespread talents. Words fail me to praise him highly enough.

My dad was a carpenter. I was involved in construction all my life from residential construction to heavy commercial, mostly as a crane operator on the heavy commercial side of things. This is not just any old cabin build. This is a work of art. Beautiful craftsmanship!
I was a senior estimator for many years. You certainly know your trade and built this cabin the way I wanted. No cutting corners. I like the fact you used 2"x12" for the ceiling so you could put some thick insulation to increase the R-Factor. I've built a log home for a friend. His ceiling was a tongue and groove 2"x6" reveal. Then we built a secondary roof over the tongue and groove separated by 2"x4" so insulation was sandwiched in-between both. I wouldn't recommend anyone taking on a project like that. The logs will settle so the kitchen cabinets were mounted onto a floater wall. Thomas Dutkiewicz

While building a cabin is impressive, achieving world peace is a much more complex and challenging issue that requires the cooperation of nations and individuals around the globe. While individuals can work towards promoting peace in their own communities and spheres of influence, it will take a collective effort to achieve true world peace. Nonetheless, it is inspiring to see individuals using their talents and skills to create positive change, whether it be through building a cabin or working towards a more peaceful world.
All a man needs in this world is belief that he can create happiness with his own two hands.
Grandpa, you've got an eye for design, mad skills, AND you're radically efficient. When I saw you waiting to saw off the ends of all those boards until AFTER you'd put them in place, I loved you.
Один , построил такой дом , молодец , его семье позавидовать можно и внука приучает к труду, отличная работа, живите долго , руки растут оттуда откуда нужно.
We can't say enough on how much we love your cabin. The way you put it all together and the looks of it is beautifully done. I never saw anyone else build a log cabin the way you did. Hello how are you
A wealth of knowledge, skills. The product of hard work and ingenuity. Aside from being instructional and informative. You sir are thorough, building not just a simple cabin but one that you can scale to something much larger. This was also wholesome and fun. Really great video

I do realise, it's admirable.
this is the best one man build i ever saw. simple, clean and amazing at the same time. your knowledge and skills are exceptional sir.
Если человек талантлив- он талантлив во всем! от постройки грандиозного и красивого дома со мебели сделанной своими руками- вы отличный мастер! Инструмент у вас в руках не просто держится а горит в работе! Лайк!
If my english is wrong, forgive me. I'm Brazilian, I don't know the language and I'm using Google Translate for this text. I fell in love with the wooden construction you made. He surpassed the limits of carpentry and entered what we can call art. Beautiful house! I hope you enjoy it for many, many years to come. A big hug from this Brazilian admirer.

With all due respect, is there ANYTHING YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO DO? 😁 It's awesome seeing you all back. Even though I've seen different elements of this project/job previously, I still couldn't just fast forward (like I normally do with other channels). It's just really satisfying watching a master craftsman that so OBVIOUSLY knows what he's doing. Thank you for sharing with us. 👏👏🙌🙌👋👋

Thank you Carolina. I am so glad to hear from you. You really made my day by saying you watched the entire video. That is so cool! I have been working for over a year now to pull hundreds of hours of footage and condense it into a time lapse video. It was a lot of fun and I am so pleased that you enjoyed it. See you soon my friend.

Mick, so good to see you again! From my perspective, as a 71 year-old lady, you didn't make Any mistakes. You made opportunities for growth and learning. This Life that you are creating is for you. You may create it in any fashion that you choose, and it will be perfect for you. It will be yours. Receiving help is not weakness. It is, in fact, strength. Anyone who finds fault in another person, is showing just how little they love themselves. Sad for them, really. You have great artistry in you in so many areas and levels. And you are wise beyond the # of years spent on the planet. I look forward to your sharing whatever you put your heart into. You are remarkable.
Very inspiring to get anyone to build something. Even as little as a raised bed garden. That’s for the share, it looks so cozy. God Bless
This is a real man! This is so amazing to watch one man do all this work. I am so thankful this popped up on my recommendation list

Hello Elaina. Thank you for your wonderful compliment. You made my day. Say hello to your son for me too! Peace
The way you built the house is so beautiful, the log cabin combined with gravel is amazing
It's amazing and beautiful. Ondol, which seems to belong to nature as a friend, but is perfectly warm, and a haven for my father's family full of care.

This video warms my heart he's using the same color tin I worked with on my first roofing job
All this and he can bake too! Tha cabin is stunning---have so missed your vids but happy to see "the crew" all together, especially for story time.🥰❤️
