First babies usually take their time being born but just in case he comes fast ; be prepared with blankets, towels, water, washcloths, etc.

As a mother, nana, and as a great grandmother, some things that will save you time and frustration: a good mattress pad cover and 3 to 4 sheets at least, if the baby is using a pacifier at least 3 to 4 always have a spare and put the spare where you will remember! Because at 2:30 a.m. you don’t want to be searching for one in the truck. Swaddling is great but you may want to think of also using one that zips more like a sleeping bag. Also use a good diaper cream even if you think the baby doesn’t have a rash, prevention of one starting, is worth it. Bibs with a plastic backing especially when teething will prevent the babies chest from always being damp. Disposable diaper changing pads, the nurses may call them “chucks”, life savers, you can use them in the crib, they will save you changing sheets constantly. I know you don’t know me, and you may have heard this before but relax enjoy this miracle, it is so special. I had big babies 9 and 10lbs in less than 1 hour from first contractions, naturally no drugs. I breastfeed all my children, best thing you can do for baby and yourself. PS, things I forgot. Bottles even if breastfeeding for water for baby 😊. When breastfeeding make sure you have a tall glass of water or juice beside you because you will be thirsty. Hydration is so important. You may consider getting a vaporizer for when baby is congested depending on the type of heat you use in your home. PSS, after I retired from my professional career, I worked at a large baby store for 10 years, in that time I learned a few things from mothers experiences and shared my own experiences with them and made many lasting friendships. Don't underestimate how many daily changes of clothes you may need. My suggestion, keep on top of washing ,do it as soon as you have a load. Best wishes.

Trust me.plssss dont pack for just 1 day in the hospital.that dont always happen.if it switches up to cesearian or maybe ur pressure is a little high you would be there longer.always be prepared.especially seeing the distance.

Those car seats are made to stay in the car, an infant car seat will have a detachable base. Makes it so easy to carry a sleeping baby inside ❤️

+1 on returning the car seat and getting a docking one. Much easier to handle the kid into the seat in the house instead of in the confines of the car. They pretty much just stayed in the basket while out and about as well. We had both kinds with our kids and the fixed one was left on the curb within a few weeks. Best of luck!!

Return the carseat or keep it for when the baby is bigger. Get a chicco key fit. Has the base and the baby carrier that comes out much easier for new borns

Having had three labs, all of whom were big time shedders, I would suggest sewing up a seat cover to protect the back seat. I used boat canvas (stamoid or sunbrella worked well) or Cordura (used in tool belts and bags as well a backpacks etc.). Because they are smooth they clean up very easily. Really saves the seat from mud and wet. Make straps that go under and around the seat and up behind the back with snaps to keep it in place. Making it out of one piece keeps the cover from leaking between the bottom and the back as it would if two piece is the design. Saves some resale value for the truck as well.

I’m so excited for you! I’m 67 but I remember everything about the birth of all my boys. I love how calm and confident you are and how supportive you guys are. I had my last son in a birthing center and was home 14 hours later. You are going to be great!

Try using a sheet over the seats for your dog

If you are going to breastfeed do not forget the absorbent pads for your bra….when the baby cries your milk will begin to leak or even squirt out so these pads absorb it so you do not need to clean up…Whatever you do, enjoy your little one! They grow up fast! (I think you will have a baby girl!)

I can't believe it's already almost time for your sweet baby to arrive. I think it's a girl, born April 10th at 9:00am. She'll be 6lbs 9oz 19 inches long. The car seat you have is fine. It is convertible, so would go from newborn and up to the time they move to a booster, or reach the max weight/height. However, it is not one you would remove. You might look into an infant carrier with base. This is one you install the base and then click the carrier in and out. If you are able to keep the other, often about a year old, they will change to the convertible car seat. You both will be great parents, and I'm so excited for you both.

My oldest is 26 years old now as a father the only think extra to pack maybe an extra pair of underwear for dad first time child birth is an eye opening experience . Good luck enjoy the ride entering into parenthood

I was so much happier with a convertible carseat, such as the one you showed in this video. The bucket is heavy and clunky, and they out grow it so fast anyway. Anytime i left the house i put on my moby tie on wrap or later a maya sling. When we arrived at our destination, my son would go from the carseat to me wearing him. He was safe, and warm, and close to Mama. The convertible carseat lasts a long time through the booster stage. It has a five point harness, which makes it safer. I highly recommend keeping your carseat. Your channel is great. Congratulations! God bless you and your child.

I think you are having a girl and I think she will come a little early. Most important not to forget protein snacks for the dad. Jerky or meat sticks. Dads are so busy taking care of the mom and anticipating the birth they forget to eat or don’t want to leave the room. All wholesome snacks are great. Caffeine drinks and water are great too. Don’t forget hand lotion. You will be washing your hands a lot with newborn. Nurses are great they will teach you anything you are unsure of. Some hospitals have lactation staff and assist you with nursing positions or any questions you have. No question is dumb. Get all your questions answered before you leave hospital. I would get a different car seat. When you take the baby to Dr appointments or to the store it is nice to have something to put your baby in; instead of carrying her always in your arms. You should try getting a dog seat cover for the back of your truck, we have one we use for our golden, works great. And keep a lint brush in the glove compartment also helpful. Good luck ❤

Put pool noodles under the gap in the front. Not sure how it is in Alaska, but in my town we can go to the fire department and they make sure it's installed correctly. Y'all got a convertible car seat, if you want it to detach, you need a pumpkin seat.

We just had our first baby in January. Be sure(esp since your Dr is so far away) you have your delivery stuff with you at every appt. We were 2-3 weeks out from due date, had an ultrasound and was told we were getting induced that night. We had to scramble with getting my bag packed and the baby seat in the truck. Also had to scramble to get someone to watch our dogs. Best of luck these next few weeks!

These washer Spinners are pretty amazing they will spin out so much water that you barely have to hang the clothes up and they're drying like an hour if you have a drying rack for baby clothes they'll dry in minutes.. too bad you couldn't find an old crib and grab the sides off of it and then raise and lower it from your Loft space and you can have your clothes drying up above your head.. i put hinges on on side of old crib side end and fold down from wall then fold back up when not in use ..great for putting clothes on hangers to dry also..

That Husky fur in the vehicle seats is such a pain to remove. We used to raise Huskies & the only thing I found to work was spritzing the seat with water (I'd use Febreeze sometimes) and then take a curry comb or rubber brush to it & the fur slides right off. We lost our last Sibe in 2020 & I still find her fur in random places lol

I wouldn't think you would want this one. You need an infant car seat with a connection base. We used the click connect by Graco.... Works with all stages of growth.

A damp cloth works really good for getting dog hair up. Just wipe the seat and it rolls up.

When it comes to the washer, in the old ringer washer days, woman would do the whites first baby clothes then darker. This way they could use the water over and over

A squeegee will help get the dog hair off the seats and carpet. If you want to get something more durable, Lily Brushes (looks more like squeegees) are great.

Water and food dishes for dog. Hope everything is safe and easy. Suggest you keep your recording stuff packed when not using it. After use, put it in bag for easy grabbing

My first grandchild is one week old. I forgot how many changes of clothes nappies blankets etc babies go through at the beginning. It’s all work but so worth it to see my beautiful little granddaughter. Best wishes for the birthday and the future.

I live in Australia and don’t understand living with snow. We have the opposite problem heat. Either spectrums have their intensities. I have found a carport so good for reducing heat in my car. I watch a lot of shows in Alaska and I have noticed that not many cars are housed or under cover. Apart from cost is there other reasons for not keeping cars under cover? Car ports don’t tend to hold up well with heavy snow. Enclosed garages have the benefit of keeping frost and ice off the windows so you don’t have to scrape them, but you have to open the garage to preheat your vehicle. We are unable to put a shelter up where we park the truck for the winter. We are essentially parked on the side of the road 5 miles from home. We are planning on having a space to shelter the side by side as part of the woodshed we are building this year.

woodworking TACK cloths will make it easy to remove dog hair...harbor freight has a box cheap.....(I don't know your stores)....baby usually comes 2 weeks after you drop....I'm guessing a little boy....sleep when the baby sleeps to regain your strength....Best Wishes....

Yep, I'm thinking a carseat with the base and removable carrier. Then baby can stay snuggled in warm with transitioning to side by side or snowmobile. Looks like your all ready though, congrats!

Scott bright works pretty good to get out dog hair we have a pug and she sheds hair but not as bad as a husky we bought on of those dog protector covers or a sheet helps to catch a bunch of hair off the truck seats

If you are breast feeding, lanolin Possibly some formula in case breast feeding is a slow process Colic or tummy drops Breast pump if necessary Small baby pacifiers Bottom cream for possible diaper rash Noise maker Monitor if you are sleeping upstairs I’m sure you have thought of these things but I felt they were worth a mention. My first, daughter, was due on Christmas day but came on the 15th instead. 10 days early.
