Nintendo rereleasing 10 year old games on a nintendo vr headset with minimal changes at 60 dollars would send me to a padded cell.

Hello! I am the owner of the NintendoSwitch2 subreddit. We have sleuthed out our most accurate information about the Next-Gen Switch. So according to our most accurate information, it will be backwards compatible and in-between the power of the PS4 Pro and the Xbox Series S. It uses a custom chip supplied by Nvidia which will allow for DLSS and some slightly less accurate reports say raytracing will be possible. (However, it probably isn't going to be very good, especially in handheld mode) It will have no new major hardware gimmick. The screen on the launch model will still be LCD, rather than the OLED display of the OLED model. We are very sure the name of the console is not Switch-Attach like many rumors suggest. We have no confirmation if it is called Switch 2, Switch Pro, Super Nintendo Switch, or some other name.

Nice and well edited video, but by this point the Switch successor is already all but confirmed to be a way more powerful version of the existing "SWITCH" concept (as stated by Furukawa and supported by public parts shipping info). We are moving directly to Switch 2 and skipping a pro model.

Predicting What Nintendo's Next Console (probably) Is... a failure? After all it would not surprise me when we see what we got 7 years later with the Nintendo Switch since it exist: -A lot of cash grab games with somes of them be bad quality such more than 10 Pokemon games, more than 10 Mario games, 6 Kirby games and Fire Emblem games being released every years in a Call of Duty style with a hight price of 60 dollars even if it's a simple port like Luigi's Mansion 2 from the 3DS who coast me 39 dollars when I got the game on the 3DS when it was released during his first time against 60 dollars on the Switch with no extra content such Gooigi on it. -A lot of Wii U port on the Switch that people like me have already buy the first time on the Wii U and didn't buy it a second time on the Switch for just the same content on it with the fact that people say it's normal because the Wii U was a failure and that the games who are on it deserve a second chance for those who never buy a Wii U but, curiously, it was mainly the Mario Wii U games who was mainly ported to the Switch despite somes others games who was less popular on this console due to the Wii U bad popularity deserve a second chance on the Switch than Mario such Xenoblade Chronicles X, Star Fox Zero and somes others but no since it seem like Mario is definitively more important for Nintendo than their others franchises despite Nintendo should know their community isn't limited to Mario only. -We never get any new Star Fox games or a Star Fox Adventures / Assault remaster, nothing for any new F-Zero game or a GX remaster so we just play a sort of Rom Hack from the F-Zero from the SNES to the Switch with 99 players instead get a new fresh modern game, nothing for any new Kid Icarus game or a Uprising remaster and just 2 Metroid games and no life sound anymore for Prime 4 since 6 years as if it was the last problem of Nintendo. Plus, even if I complaint about too much Mario games, it don't avoid me to say that the only thing that the Mario Kart fans got was a 2014 Wii U port on the Switch with DLC on it 10 years later instead a new fresh game since the true fan know it was always one new fresh Mario Kart per next-gen console but never a port from a previous console because I would remember about a Mario Kart Double Dash from GCN being port on the Wii instead get the real Mario Kart Wii and that the only Donkey Kong game feat Donkey Kong as the main playable protagonist was just a Wii U port of Tropical Freeze so no new fresh game exclusive on the Switch. -We still don't forget about the paying Nintendo Switch Online when it have been announced with most of the community who was upset that Nintendo spit on the Iwata graves after his dead for add the paying online despite, when he was alive, Iwata was against a paying system for the Nintendo consoles with the fact that I never buy their useless Nintendo Switch online due to a lack of interesting games since it seem like it cut fingers to Nintendo to add the free Gamecube games on it for Star Fox Adventures, Star Fox Assault, F-Zero GX, Metroid Prime 2 and 3 and we never get any new Metroid and Star Fox games with a online mode for somes battles against others players and I still survive several years later without it miss me to play in online. So no longer wonder why the next Nintendo console feel like a failure that I will not buy. After all what the point to buy their next garbage console if it's just for get better graphics and others stuff on it but we gonna eat in exchange the same recycled video game serie who are release every years in a Call of Duty style just for the money with a paying online system while Nintendo forget and don't will do anything or much for their others serie such Star Fox, Metroid, Kid Icarus, F-Zero and more? Shame for those who gonna buy the next console with the risk of a lack of variety on it.

The switch could very well be peak nintendo, but the generation afterwards could be a very good opportunity for Nintendo to go back to being how they were in the DS/Wii/Wii U era. The switch has a ton of UI and UX changes that makes the entire system feel boring and less engaging; presentations of new games and consoles, or lack thereof, not a whole lot of non-game programs like pictochat, streetpass, or flipnote, the switch feels like a major step down in terms of personality. Which is why I argued the next family of consoles (or headsets) we get could revert back to it.

Everybody who was running Nintendo at a corporate level during the N64 - Wii U days are effectively gone. The N64 and the GCN sold poorly because Nintendo *refused* to get with the times and the Wii U sold poorly because they were having an identity crisis. I think anyone with a sensible grasp on reality would say “okay, let’s just release a new Switch, call it Switch 2 and focus on games.” I think we’re about to get the best third party support Nintendo has gotten since the Super Nintendo. That combined with seeing AAA Nintendo games at a higher quality when we’ve been seeing them at 360 level graphics since 2014, and a cool, chic, modern Ad campaign and I think it at LEAST outsells the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

I predicted this a year ago on r/nintendo and got bodied. They said the switch 2 couldn't possibly have enough power to do vr, nintendo would never. The t239 can body a ps4 pro and with dlss it could body the series s, it can definitely do vr.

I once came up with an idea for a switch accessory that is a dock that is also a headset. Like, you can slide the switch 2 into a headset and it will work, and that way they could do vr without having to commit fully, but also being able to use their full power hardware.

the fact they didn’t go all out with vr on the switch absolutely baffles me. the switch is basically just a small tablet and the joy cons could act perfectly as controllers. maybe with the next switch they’ll release an actual vr accessory?

I'd think Nintendo has learned their lesson from previous failures. The environment of the Switch leading up to its predecessor is much different than other Nintendo consoles in the past as well. If it is backwards compatible and carries over everything from the Nintendo account system, many people who have a Switch will upgrade as a no-brainer, and a few others may finally opt-in to getting the system. Will it do as well as the original? Probably not. But I could definitely see it surpassing the Wii U within a month at least

I think backwards compatibility it almost mandatory to some extent for major companies like Nintendo, i just hope Nintendo keeps surprising us in good ways with unique consoles and/ or handhelds like they’ve done in the past 👍

i imagine the generational leap between switch and switch 2 to be more similar from ds to 3ds than wii to wii u, as in its stupid gimmick will be cheaper and less intrusive than something like the wii u gamepad. that's why i don't think they'll have vr included as the main gimmick, but i could imagine them selling it as an accessory a la PSVR

if you have a wife or husband or partner who lives with you, the unlikelihood of VR actually taking off becomes very clear. The shared experience of watching each other game, even in single player, is gone. Gaming becomes lonely again.

If there was going to be a Switch Pro, I feel like it would have happened already. Switch OLED is the closest we’ll probably ever get. I think they’re just going to move on to Switch 2 next year.

@@shoelesslol I mean, they literally announced that they’re going to talk about the next console some time in the next year or so, and the Switch has already been out for like eight years. I think the OLED came out during the time that a “Pro” system would have. I really think it’s over for the Switch Pro. It’s Prover.

Most people do not want to wear a headset. It takes users away from each other and Nintendo are a company focused on family fun and playing together. VR is still expensive to produce and sell due to the sheer number of expensive components. Nintendo are not in the business of selling hardware they will lose money on. Not something that can be shared easily and there is a hygiene ick factor about it too. It's not impossible, but I think prices for components need to go down and quality will need to go up to produce a VR experience that fits their values, if that is even possible. Even Apple will probably see VR/AR as a long haul project much like their Apple Watch that needed to find its way into relevancy. If Nintendo do something they should add a secondary screen like the 3DS (currently going through a renaissance on the second hand market and homebrew scene) and produce a device where games are difficult to emulate correctly on all those single screen emulation targeted consoles that provide a poor experience. That or add some sort of function that makes the game difficult to emulate. The only problem with this sort of thing is good luck convincing third party devs to actually change their multiplatform titles to make use of these functions. There was something magical and cool about the 3DS that made developers eager to bring their franchises and new games to the console. I think a larger screened technically up to date reinterpretation of that (with a capacitive display and higher quality 3D display) with all the cute little Mii pass and various other ideas would do well. The form factor itself was endearing and felt very personal.

I’d be ok with this as long as you can switch between VR and a real screen

There is no way Nintendo will make a VR headset. Nintendo defines trends, not follows. Wii created motion controls, Xbox followed up with Kinect. Switch revived portables, Valve followed up with Steam Deck, Lenovo with Legion Go, etc.

@@shoelesslol another commenter already explained virtualboy, it was an april fools joke from ign. Wii U was both an extension (gamepad) for Wii and a standalone portable. I didn't say anything about games, even though I should have made it clearer

The video is very well made. But why are some of the basic facts wrong? Nintendo completed its 7th year on the market, not 6th. The Virtual boy pro trailer was put out by IGN on april fools day, not by Nintendo. Showing Yuzu, after its already dead. That is the only odd thing about the video I'd say.

O shit yea I guess ur right. I tried to fact check every section a couple times, I had to cut some stuff out (talking about CPU architectures, a Switch/ VR headset hybrid, etc.) because the script ended up sounding way too technical then I wanted for the video. I coulda done a better job, that’s a my bad :/

So I guess people who need glasses wouldn't be able to play this hypothetical console?

The quest 2 and 3 allow you to wear glasses in the headset, also there are lens inserts for both consoles, I don’t think it’d be too hard a Nintendo headset to add similar features 👍
