    sidenote: I saw this in the movies when it released (i was 11 so i loved it ofc), when the yakuza showdown happened and he fell to his death, the whole theatre started clapping. That was the first time i ever witnessed something like that, and its kinda proof that that scene was probably the best callback to the original film, and maybe the only scene in Predators that was actually better than the original as they actually showed the fight and the character was cool as ice.

    To answer your question... She(Isabelle)got the information of Arnold's defeat of the first predator from the female(Anna) that survived. And the plasma cannon didnt kill the convict because he had put fishburnes armor on when they were in the excavator. Laurence exploded because he did not put any armor on because he pretended to sleep and had to quietly slip out to start the fire. And yakuza guy would probably have won that sword fight....had he had his pinkies. They control the sword, that's why they get cut off first. So the person who made the mistake and had to sacrifice his finger could never be a great samurai swordsman.

    The prisoner guy gets back up from the Plasma Caster shot because he is wearing the body armour he found on the broken-down ship. 21:03 and 22:44. If you also notice, the Falconer Predator is the only one who didn't use an unfair advantage (Plasma Caster) when fighting Hanzo. Falconer, like the original Predator versus Arnold, only used hand to hand combat. I felt like he was the only one of the clan who had any honour.

    The blowing up thing harkens back to the original predator commiting suicide with a wrist nuke device. It makes sense they'd have a self destruct device in their ship in case of situations. I felt the same way about being excited knowing that Robert Rodriguez was the director. One of the bad things about watching movies for so long is that nothing surprises you anymore because you've seen it all. The Fishburne character was horrible and hilarious. The Yakuza scene was and is a classic part. Y'all brothers keep doing your thing. Thanks.

    Watching this flick 11 years later . . . wow, it really set the precedent for what all the legacy sequels we got over the decade since it’s release. Endless callbacks, rehashing with slight twisty riffs on stuff we’ve seen before, and the absolute refusal to give us new memories with our favourite series’s from our youth. Granted, it’s no disaster - The Predator would see to that - but I could never get on board with Predators. Sucks for me I guess

  • @NoMoreNever
    @NoMoreNever Жыл бұрын

    Predators was a decent entry and a breath of fresh air in the series. What I like the most was the idea of a “game reserve” where the Predators bring their new prey to from different corners of space. If someone ever does a sequel it would have been interesting if we followed a captured Predator like we see in the movie as it is being hunted. Nothing wrong with the humans in this flick but more Predator action is what we’re paying for.

    Two things ruin this film for me. (1) The "Bad Blood" vs "Normal" subspecies - silly and unnecessary, and (2) the selection of prey. I understand the military people, I even understand the Mexican gangster (because they are actually fighting the Mexican army in Tijuana), but the yakuza and the psycho doctor? What counts as horrific violence in Japan isn't comparable to American crime, let alone a military-level conflict. Hell, the yakuza have offices with signs over the door; they hold press conferences to announce the end of a gang war. Why would the yakuza guy make it onto the predators' radar? The psycho doctor is even worse. His deadliness is dependent on blending into and navigating human society. Dropping him on a jungle planet in the company of people he doesn't know seems to me to be the sort of prey one catches and releases. He might have been a good choice if the predators were doing something similar to what was happening in "Cube," but it makes no sense whatsoever in the context of this movie.

    This movie would have been much better if the "Super" Predator didn't exist and looked just like the ones on Predator and Predator 2. And if the "Doc" character was not a part of the movie. The unlikely addition to the team is already the convict. Not a horrible movie, but a missed opportunity.

    I really dont understand the guy on the right's cynicism towards the movie. Predators was badass and was one of the best action movies in that year (08-2011 was a rough time for action movies lol). Most of the characters here were pretty good and I like how they stuck to the roots of the Predator by having them respect 1v1 battle and they expanded on their toolset and arsenal but not to the point where its too much. honestly it would have been cool to have a comic or something that was a prequel to how they set the game planet up etc. movie had its flaws but it was definitley better than it had any business being and the doctor twist and even the lawrence fishbourne character twist were good aswell.

    Isabelle surely grew up in Central or South America, remember Anna in Predator said that when she was a child people in her village found skinned bodies, it was an urban legend for a long time. Now the events of Predator, with US soldiers killed, and a giant explosion, that story would've spread. Now Isabelle becomes a soldier and does missions in various countries for powerful people, so she inquires about that thing that happened in 87 when she was a child. It's not far fetched that someone who knew would've told her, she's the right age, born in the right place and in the right business to find out. Much like UFO and Bigfoot sightings, these things get around and someone somewhere has detailed files that get leaked. However this doesn't have to apply to what happened in LA, it was a 10 year gap, different country and a police conflict that had the benefit of a media spin to muddy the story.

  • @supoa9489

    You actually quite right, though the reason LA indicent wasn't mentioned because unfairly decanonized Preadator 2. I was thinking Isobella , was supposed to be the daughter of the chick(Anna) from Predator , which would explain why she knew so much about the first movie incident. Why Fishburne doesn't poison them with the food , rather than building a smoky fire in his hiding spot/camp giving away his position to the predators, I'll never know. I rate this movie as the 2nd best Predator movie , even though it does have some kinda dumb things in it. Like above and them not noticing extra planets/moons/ the weird sky , immediately after landing , or even while parachuting in.

    Never saw it as a bad movie. Honestly when I saw it didn't even know there was a new Predator movie, then late night on a paid movie channel when I couldn't sleep, boom this satisfied me. Yes it was almost the same as the first but the twist of being on a plant for hunting game, definitely had me.

    Why would you make a movie that keeps reminding you of the original at every possible moment. This movie has no identity and is clearly my least favorite of the franchise. The Predator camp reminds me of “Sanford and Son’s” junkyard. Seriously what are we looking at it is so untidy!! Great review as always guys!!

    I think it’s pretty good but not perfect. I like the setup, this seems like something predators would do. Movie looks good acting is good, don’t mind the casting. Liked the conflict between the predators. But yeah I agree totally with Royce “having the script in his back pocket”. Also the doctor twist was really stupid and felt so unnecessary.

    OH! sorry I also meant to mention to You Guys in My first comment/message that even with Danny Glover doing a good job in Predator 2. I really! believe that they could have found in every single film since on The Predators & Aliens. That they could have not only found much better leading male actors. However! also over all best cast members over all. Lets face it today this day in age there is many very tall & over all big men male actors whom would have been great for the many roles. Not to mention Men & Woman alike. Along with young men & woman whom would have been fantastic! In all the different roles in each & every single film.

    Yeah before My girlfriend & I watched this for the first time We were both like Adrian Brody as the leading Man Dude in a Predator movie? However He did fine and He grew on us. That being said I agree with You two that this was like a remake of the first film. Just on another planet more or less. Also I myself have been a major! fan of the Predator monsters/Creatures along with Alien ever since the very first films. And yes a collector over all the years as well. This movie was okay? Just okay that is. Very much so average. And what the Hell! were they thinking with the newest film? ( The Predator? ) I So! also agree with You both that ever since the second original Predator ll. film staring Danny Glover. All! of them thus far including all the AVPs all could have and should have been so so much more & better. Aside from the Face Huggers & The Queen aliens designs. My very favorite Alien design over all by Artist H. R. Giger ( R.I.P.). The head of the first alien is still so so Very! Cool! in My book. Lastly guys another great job on another film review and I know that I've been and am thus far i sound like so to speak a broken record. However that being said Please! Guys in the name of All! great Horror/Scfi/Romance/Action/comedy/ and i could go on some more on this one film everything categories that this film envelopes its The 1986 Film ( remake ) The fly. And it staring one of My favorite Actors. You've got it The Great! Jeff Goldblum and his X. wife Geena Davis. I wonder if they stayed friends after the divorce and have kept in touch over all the years ever since? OFF topic that question/thoughts were sorry. Any how by now Guys I hope You both know that I'm once again! going to ask the both of You To Please! Do movie reviews on either all! of every The Fly films all in one long video review or at least two long video reviews? First on all the old old films. And maybe a second one on Yes You've guest it 1986 The Fly Along with The Fly ll. A.K.A. The son of the fly if You will? Also Guys I do have a good number of other films that i've thought of over time that I would love to see You Guys do reviews on also as well. And yes every single one i've made sure You have not already done thus far. Yes! including the two newest The Fly films. Thank! You! Very Much for your time and in advance Thank! You! should you do the fly films in the future? Peace!

    Too many information dumps, too much homage to the original. I was 17 when I saw the original, and would probably have enjoyed this much more If I was 17 now. I liked the bird predator drone scene which was in the book.
