When I was young (1980s) veggie farmers still water and fertilize plants in the same way as 1:20. But now, they just hose them down with sprinklers. More efficient and less labor intensive sure, but also wastes far more water and hence the frequent water shortages. You gain some, but you also loose some.

@@chinaforcedorganharvest-me7062 No, that's not right. China began to experience huge growth immediately after the civil war ended, not unsurprisingly. The population grew and so did the standard of living, though of course it was hard because China was isolated from world trade and sanctioned etc, the same as all countries trying to be independent of imperial powers. China was not allowed to trade freely with the world until the mid seventies, not even with the Soviet Union, so 'opening up' was simply not an option before that.

learn your history. China has never been at peace it had to fight many warring northern asian tribes, what do you think the 'great wall' of china was for ? Who do you think wrote 'the art of war' , a china man. What warlord was buried with an army of soldiers in Xi'an ? War has been a way of life in china from ancestral times. Over time the chinese learned to be more resilient through organized society rather than plundering and waging war. But it never was peaceful at the governing level. The Manchu who ruled China weakened it and it could no defend itself against foreigners, not because is was peaceful. Today there are too many chineses and it destroys the natural ressources and pollutes and the Hans Chinese don't care about it. This is why China is bad and disliked by everyone else on earth. It is you who should understand that for these reasons if there is a conflict everyone will turn against china. The reason is simple, you are bad for the planet.

China has never peaceful, the map of China keep expanding is the very proof of that. The only reason why China stop expanding because it took MONTHS for communication from the farthest outpost to Imperial Court. Even with the dove, any actions would take months later to have any effect. Thus China stopped expanding. Not to mention there are no real enemies in China except the North, East of China is Pacific Ocean, South is Vietnam which under China for 1000 years. West is big desert lead to Tibet which China later invaded and India is too far West. Thus China with no real enemies and thus corruptions appear from Dynasties to Dynasties in some of the most deadliest Power Struggle for the Throne.

Excessive food of any kinds will make you fat. Chinese around this time barely have enough to eat. Heck, not just Chinese, peasants everywhere in the world around this time barely have enough to eat.

different race....racial reasons. after eating same calorie food, East Asians will not be fat , and Westerners will gain weight. It's like white people are born with hairy, loose skin prone to spots, and heavy body odor, while East Asians are born without body odor and don't need Antiperspirant or frequent baths, when East Asians are sick, they only need half the amount of medicine for white people to be cured. It is a same reason
