Pre-Dreadnought Condorcet Hobby Boss 1/350: Assembly, Painting

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Hi! Thanks for visiting the channel!
In this video, i'm looking at the quite new kit of the French Pre-Dreadnought Battleship Condorcet in 1/350scale.
The kit itself comes with not too much parts from plastic, but large PE part sprues which really enhance the detail on the finished model greatly, but make the building process a little harder and more time-consuming.
The fit is exceptionally good as well!
I would recommend the kit for advanced modellers because of the fine detail work you have to do in order to get a good kit because if you miss out on the PE parts, the ship might be a sub-par model.
The music was taken from www.bensound.com

Thanks! Same, i have often looked at the HMS Agamemnon from Hobby Boss, which is also something like a pre-dreadnought battleship, but i have such a huge stash and every time i buy something i regret it after it arrives because my storage room gets smaller and smaller :)

@@funinscale2892 - Yes, I love his videos. I just got the Condorcet's sister ship, the Danton. It's a very nice kit. An interesting thing about these ships...instead of having the usual teak wood deck planking they seem to have had a brown linoleum deck covering, similar to that on WWII Japanese cruisers and destroyers. I guess there will be no aftermarket wooden decks for this class, unless some aftermarket company completely gets it wrong!

@@georgecoventry8441 Yes this was quite interesting. the kit also stated that the front deck section and turret roofs should be painted in gloss black, not flat black, which is also interesting - but the sea is probably also reflecting when the sun shines

Very nice of you, thank you! Hope there are some things you found interesting, the Danton is probably quite similar to the Condorcet, i guess? So no surprises! What i could recommend for this ship is, the lower hull is shown in green and red in the painting instructions, but the green colour is really a rare thing to being able to do, so i'd go with it again!

Super! When you want to get into PE parts, i would suggest trying a small Hobby Boss kit, they include some minor photoetch (PE, the metal ones) parts, where you can try, but you also need super glue for the metal parts. Greetings to Italy!

Heard something interesting about these ships, they had better armour placement and more of it then the HMS Dreadnaught. In theory, it would have been one hell of a brawl between the two. These French ships were pretty tough. I hope Hobby Boss and Trumpeter does more battleships of this era, like the Baden, Lorraine, Leonardo DaVinci, Queen Elizabeth class, Arizona... all WW1 of course.

True, the french ships are mostly sold under their value, in my opinion, always overlooked. Italian ships are very rare as well, as models (i don't consider the Pola from Hobby Boss because it is not very good...), but they would make interesting models indeed! Luckily, trumpeter did the Queen elizabeth class with Warspite and QE herself in 1/350, and those are magnificent models. Hope i will get one for a decent price some time

Nice model, but I would suggest you do research before starting a model; especially on the paining of deck furniture. Also, even ships of this early period had considerable wire rigging for radio aerials and the like. For this scale, black cotton would be effective.
