FAQ:
Why ‘the religious hippie?’
It was a nickname my friends gave me when I was in highschool because I dressed like a hippie and was a ‘wild child’, when I came back into my faith they thought ‘the religious hippie’ was now a more appropriate nickname and it stuck!
How old are you? Currently 23, my birthday is April 8th.
Who is your favorite saint? Saint Francis of Assisi

I studied German and English Literature. During Uni we had an actual cultural studies seminar about Witchcraft in Media. We did stuff like Buffy, Charmed and also historical issues like the Pendle Witch Trials. I was hooked and then met a fellow student who was a "solitary witch". I got a bunch of books from her and started to really study Wicca. I even had some sort of initation ritual with said fellow student. This was during the time I also thought I was gay and genderfluid (and was overall really leftist). Only in 2020 I found my way back to the Catholic Faith. I can't wait to go to my first confession and get all this stuff off my chest.

Hey that's great Anika. I've only been to confession a few times since returning to the Church, so I could probably confess a whole lot more. As far as I know, you only need to confess certain types of sins like mortal sins that keep you from attending Church, but I've never had it fully explained to me, so I really don't know. God bless.

@Anika Przybilla Thank you for sharing your story ❤💕 @Grixli Panda I would confess all sins even venial. I recommend especially going to confession and receiving Holy Communion in a state of grace especially on Divine Mercy Sunday and of course go often more the better at least once a month or more. Asap if you have any mortal sins. There is a list for mortal and venial sins. God Bless 🙏 and Blessed Sunday!❤💕

I hope you find a good sound priest to talk to. Some modernist priests don’t recognize the reality of the demonic attacks that come through magic, but as you are discovering, it is all very real. I said a confession and my priest said a deliverance prayer with me, and I instantly felt lighter - all the glamour of magic is a distraction from the real thing, which is God’s love. God bless you. 🙏❤️🙏

As a former witch and Priestess/shaman (for 13 YEARS) who is now enrolled in RCIA I would like to add how important it is to control the narrative that truth is relative. My parents left the church when I was 2 and proceeded to teach me that Catholics and Christians were filled with hatred for others because they couldn't accept that each individual has their own truth. I was encouraged to find my own truth and to rely on science to form it. This idea of truth being relative was reaffirmed by my peers, my teachers through grade school and college, as well as through the media. When I finally found my way to Christianity I realized that I couldn't accept Christianity previously because it presupposed that there was only one truth. Realizing that there can be only ONE TRUTH was like being given access to a new language that allowed me to read and understand the gospel for what it was meant to be. For the first time I could read the bible and draw the same conclusions as Christians. I also want to add that once you know there is only one truth you are forced to conclude that all witchcraft and new age practices are evil. There is no grey area. And I say this as someone who when practicing only 'white' magic (and tarot and communication with the dead) thought they were helping other people.

@@user-bl4lf9rg8m I would ask them about the 'undeniable truths' of this 'universe'. What direction is up? What about gravity? Certainly there are things we do not know, but we also cannot deny that there are undeniable truths that apply to all things conscious or not (thinking of plants which do not have a choice but are still subject to reality). Ask them to consider the differences between undeniable truth and 'personal truth'. I find from personal experience it is always better to pose questions that they will need to think on rather than forcing your own beliefs on them. Don't expect a big 'aha' moment in front of you. You should prepare for them to need some time to consider and come to terms with what you are proposing. You are asking them to redefine their interpretation of reality. That's not easy and if they realize that they were wrong they will likely be embarrassed and upset. Most people don't want to experience that in public. That and pray for them.

"Girls, be careful of your crush because they can crush your soul." 100% true! We often compromise way too much for relationships or the possibility of a relationship and it only hurts us and even could destroy us in the long run. And true love is based on honesty and we must present ourselves honestly about what we like and don't like what we stand for and what we are against.

It astounds me how much of myself I see in this cause this was me. I even called myself a neopagan, and performed spells and even read and had tarot cards. This lasted 5 years, and now I see that I was wrong because none of it ever helped and I actually turned into a worse person. I dont know if you really follow Michael Knowles, but he actually interviewed a form astrological turned Christian on this exact same topic. I do pray that everyone who is trapped in New agenism finds their way out and back to the Lord. God bless, and keep doing the work you do love.

Hi Amber thank you for sharing your experience. Before coming back to Catholicism, last year, I went through something similar. I was very curious about crystals and herbs and tried to improve my life through them. I was looking for someone how read tarot cards and thank God I didn’t find. I threw away all the crystals and books and went to my local priest. I am so happy now! I finally feel at home, I have found a purpose in my life and a loving God. Thank you for your ministry!

I’m now over 60 but was heavily into astrology and tarot and manifesting and moon rituals and so much more for about 30 years. My daughter also became extremely interested in all of those things and still is. I discovered that she was into them before I was. Until I came back to the Catholic Church and started watching lots of informational KZread videos, I didn’t know why those things were bad, I was simply told they were bad, and I needed that extra piece of information in my discerning process because those who are explaining occult practices as a benefit are able to twist it, just enough, so that it makes sense and say it helps you connect with God’s will rather than becoming a door that allows diabolic influence. I would very much appreciate prayers for her to leave the occult and come back to a relationship with God. On a side note about crystals, they have no power in and of themselves. They do have a unique energetic frequency because of their chemical structure and composition which interacts with each person in a unique way because each person has a specific electric frequency from the electrical impulses that go through our body from the nervous system, cardiac system, etc. These can be scientifically measured (examples would be an EKG or an EEG and the use of quartz crystals in radios and watches).

I liked that you said "the other side of the supernatural". When I came back to my faith after a similar experience with the occult and new age, I remember being very afraid of anything that sounded spiritual. I came back to the Catholic Church after realising that it had been right all along, but my faith looked a little protestant for a while, because I was a bit traumatised and wanted to be as dry as possible in my spiritual life. Eventually I received the courage that I needed and little by little lost the fear. The supernatural is such a real and important part of the world, but we must make sure to be guided by the wisdom found in the Church and not by the "wits" of the world when looking at it. Spiritual warfare is real, and yes, we must always be vigilant. Even people with the best intentions fall for these traps, so we must talk about these things in the Church, so that our little ones will recognise the evil and danger when they get exposed to them, or at least have an instinct to avoid them.

Amber, as you continue to shed the ways of your old life, remember to temper your interest in demonology. Curiosity is an easy avenue for the demons to cause a fall. Otherwise, it also attracts their attention. Consider how much of this knowledge is appropriate to your station and vocation. I say this as someone who was also once very interested in these things but I've since grown out of it. God be with you!

  • @annemary9680

    @annemary9680

Speaking personally, studying demonology a bit has helped me immensely. I often go to pro abort protests and marches to film things that go down there to give to conservative media and I've struggled with hatred towards those people for their pride in their sins, and studying how demons work has helped alleviate that hatred because the afflicted people themselves are not the enemy and are in dire need of prayers. The hatred has been replaced more and more with sympathy and sorrow for them. I've also come to appreciate the need to say grace before eating a meal as I took great advantage of that before and was very lax about it. Adam Blai (a lay person who works with exorcists) wrote a book on his experiences and one account of a case he helped with was a young man going through a divorce who ended up demonically possessed, and through questioning of the demons the exorcism team found out that they got into him because his mother-in-law cursed his meal at their last Thanksgiving together as a family before the divorce was finalized. Of course, this knowledge should be buffered with study of other aspects of the faith so it doesn't turn into an unhealthy obsession as you said. Reading about the lives of saints is a great counterweight to feed one's hope.

I relate to you so much. I’m 22 and just last year I had my reversion. As a child I had a really strong faith. However as the years went by, problems at home made me mad at the Church and society in general fed me the idea that religion (specifically Catholicism) was to be hated. I used to engage in new age practices like manifesting, law of attraction, KZread tarot reading and all I can tell you is this stuff will simply reinforce the idea that you are you own god and that one makes the rules on morality. Relativism at its core. I would “manifest” lustful thoughts, adrenaline seeking experiences and just a whole bunch of wreckless behavior that lead to nothing. By the grace of God, I’m back to Jesus and seriously considering becoming a catechist🤍.

Thank you for sharing this Amber, it's so important for all ages to hear this. When I was 10 there were so many cool shows and movies about witches that I also wanted to be one, luckily my mother caught me looking at that stuff and I got in big trouble and I never looked at it again. Then in my 20s I went vegan for a few years for health reasons, I was really into nutrition and learned about ayurveda.... which lead to yoga, crystals, chakras, and all that "safer occult stuff" in the name of "bettering oneself". This was basically the same witchcraft that lured me in when I was 10, just in a sweeter looking package. My faith was very weak/ Luke- warm during this time. Not long after, I finally snapped out of it, got very serious about my faith, and fully returned to the church. Thank God, Jesus, and The Holy Spirit for answering my prayers when I felt so lost. Seek the Lord and He'll lead you out of whatever darkness is trying to overtake you. And also don't fool yourself, none of the occult practices are "safe," it's all a trick Satan uses to lure us in, don't fall for it! ☺️

As a Catholic and a Horror fan my experience is different. Over the course of my life I've learned how to separate the two things. It's because Ive learned the deep beautiful truths of my faith. I've learned all the things that every catholic should be informed of regarding the dangers of the new age movement, the occult, and how to be very discerning regarding spiritual matters. I've learned how to take horror movies as stories...some more extreme than others well admitted, but nonetheless knowledge is key. "Know thy enemy"....the more a catholic knows how to discern what is of God and what isn't the more a catholic can put things of the world in their place. I'm a horror fan who has put horror movies in their proper place....and who loves Jesus and the Blessed Mother because I've learned the faith. We all need to learn the faith. Thank you for this informative video....I will share it with others who need to be warned of the dangers of the occult.

Yeah amber! I was there too. Before I reverted to Catholicism, I researched some similar practices that you mentioned: the law of attraction, yoga, manifesting, and not to mention I was into Harry Potter at a younger age. Praise God those didn’t stick around for too long. I remember feeling so weird. Back then too (when I was like 12 maybe). I remember wanting to “Lucid Dream” (where you are conscious that you are dreaming) because I saw it on KZread, and I wanted to have control in my dream so I could have magical powers like I read in fantasy books. It looked pretty cool up until I got sleep paralysis for a some time, which was pretty darned terrifying. Now I look back with back with regret and forward with joy that the Lord has brought me out of those places for a much more fulfilled life.

Hi Amber! Monsignor Steven Rosetti's deliverance prayers helped me! And they are all on his website. Although I didn't finish one of the prayers with a deacon, I felt delivered from this weird fatigue that slowly started possessing me over a couple year span. But for 1 week earlier this year, I felt like myself again...energized! But because I didn't finish the prayer, it came back but not as crippling. I too thought yoga was harmless. Before I was aware and awakened to the portals that can be opened, I allowed my sister-in-law to do a tarot-card reading in my house. I do believe that's when I got possessed with this sort of "strange fatigue. I now believe that one must continue to pray the prayers, like a celebration, a practice, one must not stop and think "I've done it". Just like with "Total consecration to Mary, Joseph, the family" one must constantly "renew them". Unfortunately, easier said than done because we all go through spiritual laziness, don't we? The fervor seems to leave and we get lax in our prayer life.

I told her & the look on her face really scared me as she said, "DON'T EVER READ NOR DABBLE IN THAT STUFF, ITS FROM SATAN"! Being brought up in the church, when she said satan, that was it, I NEVER open either book & returned them to the library! So many adults have not been brought up in the Christian faith, so I would see no harm for their children in occult & they may get into it themselves! I think that often people are drawn towards "new age" spirituality when they're going through some type of dark night of the soul or period of weakened faith, so that we can find our ways back to God and be reminded of the fact that He's always with us even in the darkest times. Learning about and experiencing other religious traditions has helped solidify my trust in God and has helped me understand Him on a deeper level. Everything does happen for a reason and sometimes we have to get lost to find ourselves. I don't judge those practicing new age spirituality, being Christian doesn't make us better than them. But I do understand that it is indicitive of a lower spiritual understanding and pray that those people find their way as I did.

I took a demon studies class in college (it counted as "English") at a time when my faith was pretty darn weak, but my interest in exorcisms did end up helping bring me back to the faith in my early 20s. Definitely not something I'd recommend for college kids to do but glad it worked out in my own life haha

It was literally stories about exorcisms that converted me to Christianity, and eventually to its fulness in Catholicism. Especially the story of Anneliese Michel (Exorcism of Emily Rose is based on her story).

Don't apologise for your past. I was an ardent atheist, I argued with the faithful and no idea how many were swayed by my nonsense, but then I found my way. The Lord had a plan and a path for us to arrive where we are now, and we should trust in him and just be thankful for the whole journey. Our experiences actually make us more capable of protecting others and guiding them because we've been there and saw it all ❤

Years back, a girl and I went to this fortune teller and said nothing but good things about my girl..well, she managed to travel and get work abroad and did get married and have a kid. Sadly, she married an abusive guy (or so I was told) and she got very ill and passed. A priest said to me in confession to not waste anymore time on fortune tellers and whatever. And I have kept my promise to that priest.

With your platform and influence please spread this awareness if you can. Thank you and god bless! Thank you for such an important topic. The presence of new age, wicca, spiritism, yoga and other types of occult is everywhere. Just ordered the Diary of American exorcist, will join my set of many books about occult and exorcism. Appreciate the recommendation 🙏🏻 I have quite a similar background as you, however I was even interested in Ayahuasca/DMT sessions and other entheogenic psychedelic drugs (means god within), when looking for the "secrets" of life. Those are extemely dangerous for our souls and can easily lead even faithful astray. Similar to mantra meditations and other practices. Since the one single moment, which I will remeber my entire life, God touched me by his finger and saved me from entering the realms we should never ever enter. I became to study the faith and became devout Catholic, studyiny these topics to be able to explain the dangers of new age and occult to others. I also got into catholic apologetics as it goes hand by hand when fighting the satanic. When I pray my rosary, I always keep praying for the people I know, who got caught in occult or entities and believe the demons. They are all masqueraded as angels of light. One of the mediums I keep praying for is the YT personality called Melinda the Mystic Witch. Please, whoever is reading this, remember her in your next rosary prayer. God bless you Amber, you are on the path to save many many many souls. God's mercy is unlimited and ethernal. Viva Cristo Rey! Greetings from Bratislava 😇🙏🏻

I agree with the message being said. The one thing I'll say though is I am not convinced poltergeists are necessary always demons. That is Jimmy Akin's view; he thinks sometimes it can be due to a weak psychic ability that can happen due to a high emotional state in some people with that ability. I never had these crazy experiences, but I believe they actually happen; this is good video and important message.

Please pray for my best friend Taylor whom I've known for 17 years - since kindergarten. Today she is a witch who worships "Pluto", has traveled into doing "dark magic", and is engaged to marry another witch who started transgender hormones recently. As kids I had no foundation in Catholicism, and she was barely exposed to it during the same time. Recently, I am more solid in my faith and finally understand the basics of what it means to be a Catholic. A week or two ago I decided to put my foot down and tell her the witchcraft and the LGBT stuff is no good, and she completely cut me off from her and her family - people whom I considered as my own family. I ask you to help me pray to St. Monica for Taylor's reversion. She has told me that she would rather go to hell because she wants nothing to do with God - whom she sees as the bad guy. Despite those horrible mindsets, I am confident that God will do the impossible if I persistently advocate for the necessity of her reversion. And if many faithful people beg on her behalf, "Pluto" doesn't stand a chance.

Thank you for the video, it was interesting! I'm not a Christian but a pagan and i feel like telling something about it. I used to be a Christian. Over time, my faith made me mentally ill and i was sure i'm going to hell. I don't mean to attack Christianity at all by telling this, this is just my personal experience and i'm sure many people will find Christianity important. I'm from Finland and i have always been interested in the mythology of Finland. Last year i decided to become a pagan. I worship the spirits and gods of the nature. This has become an important part of my life. For me, nature is on the same level as people or maybe even higher. The spirits and gods are not absolute evil or good, they are quite neutral. Once a week i go to a river close to me and say a spell. It's for the spirits of the nature and i try to give them strength in this ecological crisis. Environmentalism is very important for me and paganism has given me strength for acting on behalf of our planet. My way of paganism doesn't have much rules. Still, that doesn't mean that i can do anything i wan't. Evil things such as racism, sexism and so are all human made constructions. Or that's what i believe. They aren't neutral so the lack of rules don't lead to these bad things. I can make my own rules using empathy. I rather try to be a good person to others because i care about them and not because some spirit orders me to do it. But that just me, i don't mean that this is the only way. You can do it the Christian way too. Thanks for reading and thanks for the video!

Yeah before I reverted, I was legitimately obsessed with the occult and I would wake up everyday and watch videos of ppl like Sam & Colby on utube doing séances or conjuring up demons. Even in class at school I’d keep watching cause I was so obsessed but eventually I started seeing demons around my house and following me so I freaked and completely stopped. All my experiences with paranormal were a massive part of me returning to my faith so that’s great 👍

WHAT SOME SAINTS SAY ABOUT BLAST FATHER PIO: "Blasphemy draws God's curse on your home and is the safest way to go to hell." SAN GIROLAMO: "Any other sin becomes light compared to blasphemy" SAN G. CHRISOSTOM: "Remember, O son of the Lord, that the tongue of the blasphemer is the Devil's carriage." SANT'AGOSTINO: "The blasphemy is even more serious than the killing of Jesus Christ by the Jews because the crucifiers of Jesus did not know what they were doing and did not know Jesus as the true God, while the blasphemers usually know what they say and know who God is." SAN BERNARDO DI CHIARAVALLE: "All other sins arise more or less from frailty or ignorance, but blasphemy proceeds from wickedness." SANT'ANTONIO DI PADOVA: “In the face of parents who mourn for their dead child, I pray the Lord to raise him up; before the poverty of a father who asks me for a piece of bread to feed his children, I am moved and pray to God that it will be provided for him; but before spouses who want a child and are blasphemers, I pray the Lord that a deaf and mute child will be born to them: deaf so as not to hear the blasphemies of the parents and mute so that he does not repeat them! " SAN BERNARDINO DA SIENA: "The tongue of the blasphemer is a sword that pierces the heart of God." "Blasphemy is the greatest sin that there is greater than pride, murder, anger, lust and gluttony. The blasphemer's tongue is a sword that pierces the Name of God."
