This video doesn't actually state what the development in P&W's "new" engine is, nor why that is going to change the entire aviation industry. It merely goes through some previous engine development.

I worked on the assembly floor on JT-8s in the late 70s. I used to get up to test and they had a JT-8 -208 they were testing then. I worked on JT-9 s some but mostly the JT-8s. When I left Pratt I took a job in Alaska where I commuted on jets where some of the engines that were customers(Alaska Airlines and Wein Airlines) of the engines I helped assemble. My wife and my oldest brothers and Dads retired from P&WA.

Fix the terminology in this video. The planetary gear is not between the front fan and low-pressure turbine. It is between the fan and the low-pressure compressor. The low-pressure turbine is behind the high pressure turbine, which in turn is behind the combustor.

Basically p&w combined a jet engine and prop planetary gear system separated the compressor and there you go the GTF.

  • @prilep5

GTF is same like bulldozers gear-hub increasing the torque

I don't really understand this video. Turbofans have had gearboxes between the compressors/turbines and the fan since the 1970s. Most engines have had two spools, with the Trent family having three.

C'mon, KZread, start policing these generic, boring A.I. videos! First of all, the purported "content" of this video is eight years out of date; the PW Pure Power engines have been flying commercially for over five years. The information presented is generalized and not factual.
