They are not always right. They pulled 380 out of NYC route and all business class 350 were changed to business and premium. They have over hired now and as covid era travel boom with bad economy comes they like all other airlines who have jacked up prices will suffer. 2025 watch and see….

remember the SW mustard pots of the 80's - old 737-200's, some with aft facing seats. But when have they ever been "fun to fly?" As for FDX, the are no more MD-10's after their 20 year service span, and the MD-11's will be gone by the end of the year, and over a third of the 757's are gone. And the 767 deliveries have slowed to a trickle. Raj wants to turn FDX into a trucking company and Fred Smith no longer calls the shots or has oversight :(``` Delta Air Lines will have no 717's by the end of next year and one comes out of the fleet every month :)`` ;)```

There is a story {purportedly true} that one of the big airplane manufacturers were testing a new cockpit window design. They were firing turkeys at the windows from various angles and at various speeds. The windows always shattered. The engineers went back to their design calculations and verified they were all correct. No one knew what the problem was. Finally, a junior engineer asked "You are thawing the turkeys out, before firing them at the windows?"

As I see it, there are two options available. Change the SCOPE clause or reduce the weight of the E2. I suspect that the former may face a lot of resistance, and the latter may take some time. The increase in weight is substantially due to the heavier engines, so presumably a SCOPE compatible solution will be through lighter engines. I haven't been able to find full information, although RR are not just highlighting the efficiency of their Ultrafan, but how it is lighter than current engines of comparable power. The Ultrafan has been designed to be scalable, but while you would think that it should be lighter the the E2's engines, will it be light enough for SCOPE compliance? Given that the next generations of engines will be increasing their bypass ratios by developing smaller, lighter, yet more powerful and efficient cores, rather than just increasing the size of the front fan, how long will it take for one of the engine manufacturers to provide something suitable? Roll-on the E3!

I flew with EVA AIR from LHR to BKK in 2023. I am tall and broad …. The premium economy seat was absolutely fabulous. Only problem was/is the eating tray is in the armrest and would not fold out flat due to my large body. I had to have my tray of food on my lap and eat fast and hand the tray back quickly. So if you are an oversized individual like me “especially on the belly” 😂….. you will struggle with the folding tray. Other than that… a fabulous airliner and service. I’ll definitely fly with EVA whenever it is possible.

I can only assume that Boeing gave American Airlines an EXTREMELY good deal. Logically the best choice would have been to move away from Boeing to Airbus like Delta and United Airlines have. The aircraft American has ordered are not yet certified by the FAA i.e. the 737 MAX 10 and 777X. It's highly likely that Boeing's timeline for certification is highly optimistic given the scrutiny Boeing will be under due to their numerous colossal failures in recent years. I just hope American has backup plan for when these aircraft are suppose to be at the gates ready for passengers and they are not there.

Ever since the pandemic, Boeing have lost alooooooot of talents to airlines, FAA or just plain fed up. The most critical is pay, benefits and scale of work. Boeing pay a flightline technician with 5 years of 35/hour and American or Delta pay 65/hr, it is a huge difference plus the benefit at the airlines is better with free travel. That 30 dollar difference and benefits is huge per hour.

I have read the comments below, but I have a diverging view: I find it extremely difficult that China's dictatorial leadership would produce an aircraft and then allow their airlines to continue to purchase aircraft from Boeing and Airbus. Domestically, the C919 and any other models produced, can operate until they get approval from EASA and the FAA (not easily attainable). Recognizing China's hard line policies, it is impossible to believe that China's major airlines are not under pressure to purchase this aircraft. I give this article a thumbs down.
