True...but I like to add on that it's not about defeating one party...it's about defeating that idea that is spreading hyper nationalism among huge masses...and all sorts of division we r seeing that it propagates...also our opposition is clearly weak to be honest...we really don't have balance to oppose bjp on national level..in states we r seeing them loosing to states that are aligned more party that best represent their language and culture...as Prashant mentioned in interview...in my view what he is doing in helping Mamta and congress in other way to help stand mlas for upcoming loksabha...so that BJP doesn't have more seats like they did in 2019...it clearly will balance things up in lok sabha...wheather they win it overall or not

Why these duplicate interviews? For once, Vasu surprised me with his lack of homework. This is also why Karan Thapar is so far ahead of the pack - his homework is so exhaustive.

PK always does that. He has a habit of opening his door for interviews once in six months, wherein he speaks the same thing in each channel.

Most regional leaders including Mamta are autocrats and what holds them back is the limitation of power as State govt CMs. What is the ideology of Mamta or Arvind Kejriwal? Congress is weak because they are trying to respond to BJP instead of having their own rhetoric and formulate an attractive identity that counters Hindutva identity.

Mamata and Kejriwal do not have a religious ideology but they do have an ideology…it is the kind of democratic socialism that is nowadays popular in many parts of Europe. The problem is that it is difficult to communicate. The BJP in fact has a very confused economic ideology- they say they are right wing but their policies are a mixed bag of everything from left to right.

But, saying that Mamata didi doesn't play religion politics, would be grave mistake. She does move a great deal over minority appeasement politics and that's the reason for which a great section of Hindus in Bengal voted for the BJP. Ofcourse it's not that her appeasement yields to any better living conditions for the minorities in Bengal, but rather her party silently supports religious extremism. Moreover the corrupted nature of her party itself, the Sarada-Narada-Rosevalley scandals, Syndicates, Cut-money, and extreme political violence are all a major part of Mamata's politics.

We can't also ignore the fact that PK and his organisation have always worked with presumed winners. Only once he worked with a presumably losing side ie the Congress in UP and he failed miserably.

In order to win election BJP taking people left and right from all parties and giving them positions also -- making hardcore BJP people old timers, getting disillusioned and making them go to hibernation -- GOVINDARCHARYA , MURALIMANODHAR JOSHI , LK ADVANI , YASHWANTh SINHA etc.. Felt Srinivasan Jain did not prepare for the interview well, wasting precious time on asking to confirm gossip when talking to one of the most influential people in India, who are unlike others are quite a bit more transparent and consistent in their answers is a shame. Still enjoyable interview, Kishore is a critical thinker with a terrific ability to understand the data. He can build a granular strategy based on key principles. Hope he constructively engages with the opposition in 2024 and salvages secularism and democracy in India.

Why does the interviewer keep interrupting so often? Let Prashant Kishor complete his thought and then you can direct the next question. I felt this was a missed opportunity based on the frequent interruptions.

I don't think he is claiming to be a magician. He has said that if the party is not popular then there's no one who can make them win. He is simply a person who helps parties maximize their potential. He's a competent aide and strategic thinker that's it. And he's definitely got more clarity than all the Congress leadership combined.

Pre-Independence Congress was quite different from the Congress after independence. It was a national movement, not just a party, that was inclusive and full of intellectuals with varied ideologies, had a democratic leadership, and a common goal. After Independence, it gradually turned into a kind of oligarchy with successive degradation of its ideals and values as power was taken for granted in the absence of a major opposition and got surrounded by sycophants having the sole aim of attaining and retaining political power. We need the old Congress back.

Very interesting discussion.

Prashant kishor is in good books with mamata, sharad pawar, jagan reddy etc who were earlier in congress. If they comeback to congress with the help of prashant, they can bring in nearly 100 MP seats. In 5-10 years they can easily take over congress from Gandhis because of weak leadership. That's why the gandhis backed out I guess. It's a known fact that prashant is overly ambitious.

It's simply just pk wants to make a way for Mamta by joining hands with Congress because some regional party has lost faith in Congress like SP in up and RJD in bihar. It’s so important for the presence of a strong opposition in our country but takes me back to the era of congress 70 years rule , how hard it was for BJP to breakthrough the monopoly. Modi has done some serious damage all this while to break all the odds. It’s just 8 years approx & he has already choked congress to the ground. I was proud of my India ( was) cuz during my childhood I studied in school that India is the only country in the world to have diverse culture and religions co-exsiting peacefully and learnt the quote " Unity in diversity" ! I'm now seeing videos of children demolishing worship place of different religion and commenters encouraging such acts! ( Post 1947, when a law was constructed to be abided by its citizens). Now I got nothing to be proud of!

If one individual without being a proven leader himself thinks of defeating BJP in 2024, through his political strategies and statistics, it is a wishful thinking ! BJP will win 2024 loksabha election, may be with lesser margin than in 2019 ! People keep crediting him for Mumta Banerjee's win in WB ; even without PK, she would have won the elections and would continue to win for obvious reasons ; had he helped Congress win WB elections, then the credit would have been entirely his !

I don't think that without PK it would be that easy for Mamata to win the Bengal election. Even before the lokshava election in 2019, TMC became a broken party. Many top leaders (founding leaders) left TMC and joined BJP, and after the lokshava election result, the morality of TMC became so low that they even thought they could not win 2021. But after ipac took the charge, TMC changed and won the 2021 election. I hardly believe without ipac it would have happened.

As a resident of Bengal I confirm she would have won without Prashant Kishore. 15 to 20 percent bengalee Hindus are hardcore communists who instead of voting cpm voted tmc just to keep bjp out of power . 35 percent Muslim votes as whole went to her. Rest bengalee Hindus were divided. Bihari and maravaadis like us in majority voted for bjp. Only way bjp can win Bengal is to win all the Hindu votes else it's practically impossible for bjp to win a state like Bengal with 30 to 40 percent Muslims and a huge section of society who are communists.

@@focusonlyneet1237 I don’t disagree with you. But historically 35% muslim votes divided to three parties Congress, TMC and left. But this time whole muslim vote went to Mamata. This is because Mamata made it clear that this vote is between TMC vs BJP. This policy worked well. Secondly, just think about last lokshava sits distribution. BJP won 18 sits, and after that many TMC leaders went to BJP. If PK didn’t work for TMC, there would have been no duyare sorkar type welfare schemes. And the momentum of BJP couldn’t be resisted. Those strategies made by PK worked very well. All those things worked well and that’s why TMC won. So it is hard to tell whether without PK TMC would have won this election with this margin or not.

Although it was an excellent interview the conclusion is that a person whose integrity is suspect. The impression one gets from the recent developments in Goa Tripura and Meghalaya is that he is taking revenge for not able to get into the Congress party. He at the best can be described as a professional whose personal ambition comprises his professional ethics. He cannot deny that he worked with Modi in 2014 which is nothing wrong as a professional but does not support his ideological commitment of democracy and inclusivity

lol. we did have an intelligent puppet in power for 10 years. we got 2g and antrix and maxis and money stashed away in overseas accounts like never before. i don't think we need a government that intelligent anytime in the near future. we dont need prime ministers who would award themselves the bharat ratna or a prime ministers who would sell our economy to the soviet block. i seriously don't think anyone really misses the congress other than those who reaped the benefits out of their corrupt system and you.

This interview clearly shows why long form conversations are taking centre stage everywhere else in the world. The interruptions between are far too much for one to coherently follow the conversation. This has some gems in between and should have expounded on especially his piece on 3 planks of BJP. I havent heard anyone say it with sucj clarity and the moment he said it, it all just fit in my head yet Srinivasan didnt pursue that line since he was too busy on understanding if PK is an agent. We need to have less interruptions from interviewees and that can only happen when there is time. But overall was very insightful and precisely the content what people would like to see.

Prashant is very clear about his views and he shouldn't be misunderstood. At least we have a person who makes his points boldly without taking sides.

There was one Shri Krishna who lived to establish the rule of Dharma and then there was Shakuni who was instrumental in destabilising it. This Prashant Kishor is a man without values, who is good but uses his knowledge as Shakuni did. This man needs a Sahadeva.

He made TMC win in. WB ..but he made zero the INC in WB which makes BJP gainer for. 2024 elections..So now bjp has to thank TMC for wipiing out INC....

@@homefrontsai Naveen ji is fundamentally a different person than Mamata is. Mamata is, at heart, a Bengalistani. She genuinely believes that bangladeshi's are part of her family while people from other parts of India are intruders. Even intellectually, Mamata did her graduation in Islamic Studies and she thinks in an Islamic manner.

PK and his team makes money by creating winning formulas for any criminal. Currently AP is facing the consequences of one such strategy. I suspect PK behind Delhi riots and Sikh farmers aggression in Delhi streets and at the red fort. Any sane minded individual will reject these Bihari/eastern UP criminal tactics.

@@rocking4joy I don't give a damn whom he helped or who got help from him. I want SC and election commission pay attention towards these crooks. We should put an end to this "Biharization" of Indian politics.
