What I like about Magnus and Fabi both is they both give very correct and true opinion about these youngsters. They appreciate them and clearly state where these young players stand. Like here he rated Gukesh Highest but when it comes to mentality he rated Nodirbek and Pragg higher. And in another interview he stated that it was unfortunate for Gukesh that he faced me on the day when I played my best chess...

Carlsen's comments are fascinating to me, he clearly has a strong sense of legacy now, and the sort of grace that only a person who has been blessed with natural talents like he has, and a long happy period at the top of his game as the reigning champion, could have. The dorky kid who played chess well but wasn't used to the media has come a long way. I hope he publishes a few books - his 'My 100 Best Games' will be very interesting. Incidentally, many of the great world champions seem to have had this same articulateness as Carlsen - Alekhine and Capablanca come to mind, definitely Lasker, and a number of others.

@@Mathematica1729 do you consider Hans Niemann or Arjun Erigaisi youngsters? They're the same age as Alireza. Magnus himself in this interview talked about youngsters born in 2003 and after, Alireza is born in 2003 and therefore in this category. As for the fact that Gukesh can beat Alireza's 2800 record, it is true. But it won't be easy. Nobody saw it coming when Alireza did it, he won 34 rating points in just one month. Something you don't expect a 2770 rated player to get. I think he went something insane like 16/20 with a performance of 2950. Honestly, it will be hard for Gukesh to get to 2800, and even more to do so in one year.
