Practicing Humility

Pride is an illusion wrapped in a lie, and it's in each of us. It’s our desire for total independence from our Creator, and it makes us feel good because we feel secure and capable. But it never satisfies in the way we think it will. In this episode, Preston and Jackie discuss how keeping God as our reference point is the only way to embrace true humility.

It’s so true. I had been in disobedience to the Lord for so long that He did indeed start taking my mind. It was torment and hell on earth. Praise God for His mercy and grace for leading me back to the truth and teaching me obedience. I’m a work in progress like the rest of the church, but God is so good that as I was being led to be obedient He already started to restore my mental health. All praise and glory to the Lord Jesus Christ. 🙌🙌🙌

WE BLESS YOUR HOLY NAME, JESUS!!!!! Preston and Jackie can not comprehend how this video has blessed me. God told me, if I don't turn from my pride, it will affect my family for generations and generations to come. Until today, I did not understand (comprehend) the hold it had on me. I did not understand why it is so difficult. It's the vulnerability of it. Being seen as inferior or not qualified/competent. But not only that, if I am inferior or not qualified, STILL TRUSTING GOD in that situation. HALLELUJAH!!! We serve an AWESOME GOD YALL!!!!

The spirit is truly moving because I had the same conversation with the father and my sister . Pride destroys us, making us unable to see what it really means when the scripture says you have to be like a child to enter the kingdom. It's so deep and truly refreshing to hear it expressed openly ❤

Great conversation! You guys both brought up some points that really made me feel for the first time in my adult life for me to admit that being humble is struggle that I have because my pride would not allow me to say that out loud. And never once have, I considered the fact that shame and pride go hand-in-hand, because there was a lot of trauma as a little girl for me, and it helps me to better understand perhaps where it comes from. I do know that I am trying to create a false safety *net for myself often and that definitely reveals that I’m not fully trusting in God. And I need help. The closing was great where you talked about remembering where all of our good things are qualities are blessings come from, and that definitely should be enough to be so thankful and humble. Thank you for always being super honest because I myself could say that I look up to you guys because of your strong presence online. Don’t get gassed up now. LOL love the Perry’s!

Pride for me looks like "wanting to be important than anyone/everyone else" it looks like "I want to be glorified" It takes me back to the fall but I see that in my own behaviour a lot! The whole conversation for me has allowed me to unpack alot. When I choose humility, it's when the Holy Spirit or people call me out. It looks like... "if this will keep me away from God then I cannot have it" Giving up and asking Jesus to give you strength, acceptance and wisdom/discerment to always choose the way that keeps you with Him. Amazing conversation. Loved this episode.

Thank you soooooo much, I struggle with Prides so much. you know the more wisdom God gives you the greater the struggle. And for me it gotten harder because it's time for me to with draw and pray. All I can do is tell you, God can show you. And there are times when I can see God is going to show.

I absolutely LOVE what the Perry family is doing! The open and honest dialogue is so refreshing and I get a good laugh at least once or twice every show. Like Preston's stomach got the subs in it😂😂

This is one of my favs you two have done. I so needed to hear this and the break down of what pride it. Pride sneaks in like a friend, a form of a false comforter. And when you look up, you are so far away from God. We need to keep in mind it is the voice that crept into the enemies ears and caused him to fall greatly and a third of heaven. Be mindful.

You both left no stone unturned. Got me in my feelings, talking to myself and the Father throughout the episode. I’ll have to listen again!

The latter portion, going deeper; getting underneath, was helpful. Thank you both.

So many gems in this episode!! Jackie you hit it on the head @38:22 this is something I’ve struggled with and my God I fight tooth and nail with my pride. However, you’re right, if I know God will sustain me, I should have no problem displaying humility.

Every time Jackie goes into depth about her characteristics, emotions, etc. it’s always so spot on to how I feel. I’m sincerely grateful that there is someone out there (whom I essentially trust to give solid and truthful information) who is able to articulate this for me. Super duper grateful for this platform.
