Duuude, this is so cool. I’ve got a challenge if you are up for it. Try and learn some of Ne Obliviscaris’s “And Plague Flowers the Kaleidoscop”. It’s got some crazy double bass parts (they are all even it’s just ALOT). It’s also an amazing song, stay zesty!

Nice playing. You really shouldn’t use felt beaters on the kick pad though. It will the mesh on the kick out quickly. You should use a drum patch, or plastic beaters. Most pedals come with some, or two sided beaters.

@@papascoa a patch for the kickpedal beater to hit. Don't think its too common to use on E-kits, but on acoustics it can help to increase the durability on the bassdrum head.

Copying the answer from someone else on here :) "There's 2 extra ports on this. One of which is occupied by the 3rd cymbal that comes with this kit. There's room for 1 more tom / cymbal on this kit."

Nice man ! What sample are you using ?

Absolutely amazing and so tight!! I got my 17 kvx two weeks back and it's literally been the best investment ive ever made. The only issue I'm having is that I'm unable to find a sweet spot for my double bass slave pedal because my hit stand is a cheap one and doesnt offer rotating legs. The only way everything fits well is if hi hat is placed slightly away to the left. So if its good for the feet, its turning uncomfortable for the hands and vice versa. Any tips? Also my kick pad is not in the center. It's slightly to the right. Can that be causing this issue?

Hmm, the way you describe makes it sound like you should be able to set it up the way that I had in this video. The slave pedal can still be rotated by a big margin even if your kick pad isn't centered.. Are you able to place the slave pedal in between the the hi hat leg - directly beside the hi-hat pedal? (should be able to barely see the way I have it set up in the video.)

The pedals are Tama Speed Cobra double pedals, the first generations. Setting them up was very simple, in terms of connecting and positioning; they clip on just like to a normal bass drum. :)

I find that the pad is more sensitive towards the center and when fitting both beaters on there is quiet. Did this happen to you? Also are you playing on a stock bank cause it sounds really good lol

I don't really know, I mounted the double pedals almost immediately. They have been tweaked a bit, Ive changed them to maple drum and increase the volume. They are a bit inconsistent in the sound so I am going to tweak them a little more.

Dude ... very nice... I have a question... how did you get your bass pad to not move when using the second bass peddle... mine wants to take off when I start doing double bass... how did you stabilise it??

Thanks! Guessing you are talking about that horrible wobble that comes when it isn't balanced.. I don't remember exactly what wound up helping, there was a couple things i did: - I tried to place the pad as conveniently as possible to stop the wobble from happening when playing double bass. I found it had a lot to do with where the slave pedal was placed; If I could move the slave pedal from side to side then that would have negative impact on the bass drum pad, also making sure that it is secured properly using the velcro underneath the pad. And try using a rug that is pretty stiff. I think the piece of towel in this video actually helped a little as well lol. Could give that a try if nothing else helps. Please tell me how it goes! : )

@@haanok Thanks for replying! I think your right about that towel possibly... I have been fiddling for a while now and found some black plastic dumb bell weights... its definitely better now but I'm becoming obsessed :) im not sure it can get better. I just got the demonator pearl peddles... when you mean the slave peddle you mean the left foot peddle right... im not sure that moving it will make a difference... will it?

By the way dude I just found out from a 65 drums video... plastic beaters are the way as the felt beaters apparently act like sand paper on mesh... im not sure though cause my first Roland never broke down... I never changed them....

@@jonathanbracq yeah, your "slave" pedal is the left pedal on a doublepedal system. 😊 Good choice for pedals btw! Idk the towel could be the solution - strictly by pinning the pad down it wont move, so trying different solutions to just lock the pad in place will help. Coming back to the point of positioning the slave pedal though, I noticed that even if it was even just a tiny bit off balance it would wobble like crazy, but if you've checked this then I would not worry about that causing the problem.. I do remember that being something i did alot though when I had the electric kit, moving the pedals and pad around to make it as stable as possible, the stand for the kickpad is so slim that it doesn't hold itself upright too well.

Did you buy an extra crash cymbal and do you have enough inputs for it? And is the bass drum pas consistent with the samples once you play with a double pedal at higher tempos?

Hi there, great video, may I ask do you use MDS-COMPACT rack, how you manage to fit hi-hat pedal and double pedal? Or do you haved move your module to the right, It can't see in video. Some video from setup eould be great👍

Alot of the songs I learn by just listening and playing them over and over again, like you will notice with this video is that I don't play it note for note. I play the same songs + some extra whenever I jam with headphones and slowly start adapting the parts. Feel free to call me lazy! :D

Thanks Ray! It's not so easy for me to answer that, I can say that I had been playing drums for ~9 years when this video was released. I won't say that there is a lot of advanced playing in this video. But, if you plan on practicing for at least 30 minutes a day you should be able to learn to play rather quickly. Look up rudiments and limb independence practice routines and learn to play to a metronome. I practice my drum playing for 2-3 hours a week + band practice (which is another 2 hours but that is more of a jam than practicing the drums). If you plan on playing medium-high tempo double kicks (130bpm and up) it will take a bit longer since that is a harder technique to master in my opinion. Hope this helps!

Yes, the kit comes with the bass drum pad and works well with double kicks. You should look into anchoring the pad, it will move around a bit when playing faster double pedal.

It's a poor attempt at muffling the bass drum pad - it can be a bit clicky at times, and I live pretty wall to wall with the neighbour. :) .. It's been removed now though, didn't really work too well.

@@MattyPS hmm, hard to explain.. The only pads that can be a little loud, if you're really digging into it, is the bass drum and ride. Not sure what to compare it to. You can buy pedal beaters that are softer and produce less noise and buy a rug to place the kit onto. Should help a bit. That said, I reaaally recommend going for the kvx model, feels more like a real drum kit.
