    Love seeing riders practicing. Yeah we use DaVinci Resolve and it a high learning curve. When just vlogging like in this video, I rarely use all the tools. But on our travel videos, that’s where I go deep into it. It’s excellent with color grading and audio. But it’s a pain in the rear to learn.

    Davinci Resolve has a free version, and I already have a video on shortcuts to make the editing far faster & easier. The shelf idea is a good one, I like that! Won't happen in the "pro" space that Resolve occupies, though.

    The thing with the helmet camera is that it shows how you are turning your head in the direction of travel (or not 😂). Nw I'm as guilty, still forget about it occasionally.

    Yeah, it's easy to get rusty without continual practice. I made a video yesterday afternoon, and in that video, you'll be able to see my head swings around much more. I'm waking after a long slumber!

    As for the Hero 12's settings... they DO have an "easy" mode with 3 settings - low/medium/high quality. Set it to high, forget about it. OR, you could just ask me if you get one - I'm happy to help :D If you like tinkering with the color on photos, you should try your hand at color grading video. Shoot in Flat and add LUTs and tweaks and stuff. The color deficiency might be an issue though.

    Problem with color on videos is the constantly changing light situation. One segment of the video might look great, but a second later it looks blown out. 😭 I DO like the 3-setting option for no ices like I am. I’ll seriously consider getting me a 12!

  • @RoadReality

    @RoadReality

    @@maikeli7 So, yeah, the changing light is a huge PITA for motovlogs. BUT, with the settings I was using on my 9 and 10, I still had enough detail in the shadows that if they were too dark [and it was rarely - if ever - the case that things were blown out], I could just go in and bump up the shadows [like so many shots at a gas station], and you could see me again, without blowing out the highlights [sun-lit areas]. It was scene by scene, but watching the video before rendering made it easy to see these and correct them as I went. If you watch my video being posted in 9 hours [noon EDT], I'll be curious to see what you think of the color. It was challenging, but I did NOT color grade ANY of it, minus a couple of clips that had shadows that needed to be brought up to show specific details [those were masked and tracked].
