I was pretty surprised to see that the stock motor spun so much faster. ......but as you mentioned...that's free load speeds.

Very informative, thank you for the videos, I am curious how to switch the small gear on the motor shaft that connects to the large gear inside the gearbox. Is that small gear called a pinion? When looking at the replacement motors online they don't see to have that small gear they are just a round shaft.

You need to heat is up with a lighter and pull it off its a press fit; then press it on to the new motor. Remember there is a plastic washer behind the gear so not to much heat.

I want to put two 350w motors in my sons police car but I knew these gearboxes were cheap. It would be nice to find aftermarket boxes with all metal gears

The way the torque is distributed through the gears; only this gear needs to be metal and the rest hold up great after the torque is reduced through the gear set.

If I apply 18v to a stock motor, would that be problematic? I.e swapping a 6V stock battery to an 18V Milwaukee drill battery? I ask because I see all these videos on YT where guys are just swapping the battery, but won’t that just burn out the motor? Thanks, great videos btw!

There should be no issue with the motor; my mods were to 24v.

What is the rpm of these 775 motors? I look on ebay and they are only 9000 rpm at 24v. Bought them and they run very slow. Even at 24v the 775 motor i bought run maybe 3 mph max.

I am not sure of the RPM's as this project was quite some time ago. I do mention that the OEM motors were much faster but also more $$$$

How can I tell which side on the motor is positive and negative if it is not labeled?

They are DC motors once you hook them up they will either go forward or backwards; check with the controls hooked up

you sound native american in the beginning. Overvolting a 12v motor to 24v will be faster than running a 24v motor at 24v. Since your new motor is bigger it will have more torque even with less volts but the speed won't be as fast.
