Yes, Sir, the famouse whip, when the body moves back, like the handle of a shepherdś whip, then accelerates forward pulling the train of hand, or even legs with the fist or foot on the end to achieve the extra effect of power. Best regards, Paul,67, retired instructor.

I find it strange those who are saying this isn't effective given its widely accepted by almost all martial arts that most striking power comes from the hip and less wind up in this as well. The critique of telegraphing should watch the clips where he strings strikes together and sets up these strikes very smooth stuff.

I think you get a better visal at 4:10 he uses the opposite hip side from the striking limb to movebforward like hes striking with it and instantly using the hipsbopposite positioning of the striking limbs side to preload unlike with western boxing alot of the power might come from a second hit like, jab left, then right cross,l. The left jabs finishing position leaves the right wound up. Also it looks like he doesnt twist his upper body that much. He genuinley whips his upper limbs and tightens it upon impact using his hips energy. Any input appreciated. Im sure all the commentators along with me would too.

You get the better effect if you use the first hip movement for a light or feint attack and pivot the foot with the follow up power punch. Standard boxing. A small step or hop combined with hip movement will create an even stronger power attack.

Interesting how you keep seeing the same or very similar moves described in different ways in different traditions. DK Yoo has repeatedly demonstrated the same hip moves. The only thing he adds to what is said here by Consterdine is that he's "getting his power from the ground." Not sure whether that means he's actually doing anything different, but both of them are certainly generating lots of power.

It's about shifting the hinge point from the centre to the hip because power used to drive one half of your mass backwards while the other half goes foreword is wasted. Once you've got that, work on preloading the front hip. When that works, it's about making the movements smaller and employing a little artifice to hide the set-up.

Stop confuse combat sports with martial arts!If you hit first with deception and continue with forward pressure your attack ,the other guy will fall even if he is a trained fighter!Of course its necessary to train your strikes and know how to transfer power!I see big confusion from many people. Many people think that in real life fights happen as in the ring! Big mistake! The guy who comes first with the most and catch the other guy unprepared will win in the street!

@@TheRiboka Someone said that Mike Tyson's punches, and those of Dekkers the Dutch Muay Thai guy, are to an extent, double hip. Dekkers would load up his front left foot prior to kicking with his right pivoting on the front foot as is common in Muay Thai. Karate (other than Kimura Sensei) generally teaches us to use a single hip with the center of the body the rotational axis for less telegraphing and faster combinations I guess. I feel that in Kyokushin it is difficult to get a knockout. Matches often seem to consist of tenderising each other's chest and abdomen with weaker single hip blows in a sort of how-many-can-you-bear competition. I would like to be more Prince Naseemy -- evade and occasionally throw bombs. Prince Naseem generally did it by using a 'double knee' (?), jumping up and forwards in a sort of uppercut jab ("corkscrew"?) from a crouch. Being too old, I have only a match or two left in me. I will practice this double hipping on my bag.
