Wow!!!!! Gorgeous chrome red. 😁👍👍👍❤
Oh man, nice! very helpful indeed. great vid, thanx.
looks fantastic!!!!
Turned out Amazing👍👍👍
I use Prismatic as well as well as I love going in person to pick up my materials. If you ever get the chance go check out their upstairs with all the color swatches, it looks like Christmas ! Also I have that same Eastwood gun and I like it better with tip diffuser removed - use less powder.
Good Stuff.. I bought the Eastwood setup 3 years ago and haven't opened the box yet.. You just motivated me

Excellent job.
I once saw a home-rebuilt custom 1930s automobile at a car show and the person had used a silver/chrome undercoat and 22 layers of different colors of what was called "Kandicoat" (not sure of spelling) translucent top layers. The entire car looked like it was a ever-changing liquid rainbow of the old merthiolate first-aid liquid. It was blindingly beautiful. It took him six months to paint it.
Amazing video with amazing results!!! Great job bro. 💪🙌

Just a super job !! from France Normandie. Thank you, Gabriel, for all of your videos! I am working and my 125 CR 2007 ...Want the same!
Good Video. I've been powder coating for about 15 years now and started with the Eastwood gun. For those wanting to get into powder coating, remember to tape off the areas you don't want powder to get in and also its always easier and uses less powder if you heat the part up and then shoot it. it doesn't have to be a set temp, I usually shoot it after its been in the oven at 400 degrees. It will get inside the tight spaces easier because it hits "flow out" the second it touches the part.
Man that looks really good, my friend and I just bought a trailer load of dirt bikes to restore, I'll definately be looking into doing some of this!!

Thank you! Give it a shot
I became familiar with powder coating for exterior parts. Jeep steps, Jeep bumpers, tow bars & such. 1 complaint I have is the finish loses it shine REAL quick. I used to shoot a coat of gloss black paint over it to restore it. BUT, my biggest complaint, maybe because it is in an outdoor environment is by & by the metal under the coating will begin to rust. And soon you will see the coating start to lift, then, fall off. Maybe, under the hood powder coating does not suffer this, but outside it sure does. Currently, the steps on my motorhome are a mess. I have removed them from the coach & disassembled them in my garage and am in the process of removing the coating & sanding off all the rust. I intend to use gloss black paint on the arms & I bought some truck bed spray for the steps themselves. If the steps start to look bad in the future, I just grab a rattle can & give em a shot. Good as new. You cant do that with powder coating. No, I am not a powder coat fan. I will wager a guess that powder coating is used by mfgs because it is probably cheaper to coat a part than painting. And/or quicker. I'm willing to bet. !
New Subscriber. Great Job, I am looking to get back in the Hobby myself, with 2 gas offs you are the man, they are a must to the perfectionist.

Oh, that's interesting. The red is translucent and allows the chrome to gleam through. I wondered how they got that effect. Good video.
cool vid , i would do the shock body gloss bronze or chrome cheers
Great looking results. I've been doing powered coating for a while and just have not had a chance to get into the multi-layer stuff with the chrome finishes but I've got a few projects coming up where customers want the new shiny finishes so I'm glad to see any advice on doing the candy and chrome finishes!

Exactly how and color im getting my atv frame painted
Hello, excellent result! What brand of chrome powder paint did you use? I want to try it too, I liked it.
That’s one very fine finish you’ve achieved - Just of great interest, how resilient to solvents - typically oil based stuff. A really beautiful job litl bro - you’ll be having a lot of fun and so on..👌

So nice What oven are you using?
That does look good. I been wanting to yt? In to annodizing my self
Silver always works witb red. I would use that for the shock.
Outstanding result. Wow!! And very good explanation step by step. I now have to try this. The chrome was unreal. If you leave it chrome, do you need to clear coat it?
@irishstunter1715

Yes clear coat for extra protection
Did you consider using Prismatics Top Coat Clear as the final spray? Thought I read where it helps protect the final finish? Looks great though!
I have had the same gun sitting in my shop for a long time. After your video, I am ready to try it out. One question......Do you have to heat (Bleed out) aluminum that is not cast? I will be starting with 1/8 in thick 6061 that comes from sheet stock.
bro you look tense loosen up dont worry your doing a great job on cam!!
Hi m8 on your sandblasting cabinet is it a sbc 420 And what cmf is your compressor Thanks nick
Man that’s just amazing ! I want do it on some parts of my bike but do I need all this equipment ? Is there’s a way to do it without using all the fancy tools or ? Great job man so professional!

That gun is $200 and get a used kitchen oven. Done.
so I noticed that the second part went in the oven with the masking tape on and came out with it off. are you suppose to unmask while its still hot. just wondering how the unmasking went
MAN THEY LOOK GREAT, JUST GOTA EASTWOOD GUN WANT TO DO SOME PARTS FOR MY 68 FIREBIRD IM BUILDIN FOR DRAG RACING ALWAYS LOOKIN FOR SUM GOOD TIPS THANKS

Thanks I really appreciate that, best of luck!
Can you get this same result with alloy parts or does it have to be stripped down to chrome??
NIC Prismatic is the BEST ! 7000 colors. They have a lot of how to powder coat videos. You don't need to use Eastwood Paint Prep - Why pay shipping on Acetone? Did you use high temp silicone tape? Spray it hot - it's called Hot Flocking. You can paint glass and other things that have Bondo on them by Hot Flocking
do you have any tricks to getting an even coat when using translucent colors? I have the eastwood dual voltage gun but I can't seem to get an even coat. Does that rubber piece make that big of a difference? I don't usually use it actually aha
What is your settings on the temperature gun please ? we need to use the same emissivity as raw steel ? Thanks!
Hola...what is required temperature before you start a base coat super chrome or any paint?
hi bro good results but wow what a process... i have powder coated in factories for a living and the settings on the gun are 25 for coating 10 is for second coating over powder coated parts.. on our guns we half the voltage to re coat or second coat the part ... ...we de grease part then acid etch it rinse then chuck it in the oven to dry and degas it ..use paint prep on it..then air dry it with compressed air then spray it then bake it all part come out flawlessly with full adhesion .. prep takes about 20 min withoven preheated to 214 deg c... not picking on you you have done an awsome job just seems like alot of exta work

That’s a dope color
What did you do with the holes to the spokes?
I'm looking to get into powder coating myself. This way super cool to watch the process. I'm basically wanting to do dirt bike, ATV, and automotive stuff. So the dirt bike hubs really hit close to home. The color was awesome. I even thought the chrome actually looked good as well. I am curious what you are doing for the wheels and spokes as well. Again I'm super impressed and you made it look so easy. I had a few questions though. For the masking off the surface area's, what kind of tape did you use? For the chrome finish, could you use a clear powder coat to really make it shine? Not sure if you've experimented with that. Are you planning on applying a clear powder to the hubs? Or would that not change anything. As for the shock body black or a darker bronze or cooper color would look bitchin I think. Keep up the good work,
@adampaganelli4891
5 жыл бұрын
Thanks man! -I use high heat masking tape it comes with the Eastwood gun. - yes if you only use chrome you need to put a clear coat over or it will loose it’s shine. -And no need to use a clear coat on what I did since that top coat is strong!

@@adampaganelli4891 so you don't actually have to ground it to whatever your powder coating cuz it looks like you said you grounded it to the metal bar you welded up to hang it from her whatever....
@adampaganelli4891
4 жыл бұрын
You don’t have to attach it to the part but you have to attach the ground to something that’s conductive and attached to the part. That way the part is also grounded
You should paint the shock body and frame black have the red hubs and get blue rims. I think the bike would look sick with a modern red white and blue look to it
@adampaganelli4891

Thanks for the input! We’ll keep it in mind!
Is it possible to cerakote hubs aswell?
Did you have any powder build up on the spokes when rebuilding the wheel
What color red was that over the super chrome? I was looking at the Dazzling Red over super chrome and that looks a lot like it.
Did you not need to tape off the holes for the spokes?
So I’m having issues with center caps on tires. How does everyone do center caps after they do the rims?
It's great video. Can i ask you a question. I want to powder coat my brake calipers, but originaly has a logo. Can i powder it, put a logo and then put some clear coat on the top to prevent logo from scratch?

Do you have to degas all parts ?
👍!
wounder for better over spray control if ya used a sand blast cabinet or spray booth will help..
@adampaganelli4891
5 жыл бұрын
I started using a small spray booth. A blaster wouldn’t be a bad idea actually but it takes up a lot of space. I would eventually like to have a Pcv pipe set up for spraying
Any info on the sandblaster cabinet? Great video by the way
@adampaganelli4891
5 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I picked up the blaster locally it is a pretty simple industrial sized one. Big thing to watch for when you buy one is if it has its own vacuum and other then that you want a good compressor.
what kind of air compressor have you been using for the blast cabinet? Been reading up on a lot of forums stating you need some beefy specs to maintain blasting for more then a couple minutes.
@adampaganelli4891
5 жыл бұрын
I’m using a older one doesn’t have crazy power or anything it’s like 5.8 at 90 cfm I think. Does the job, occasionally I will have to let the compressor catch up if going full on for a bit. The key when your running a smaller compressor is to make sure you have clean air because the small compressor will get hot and add moisture into your air
You need to screw that defuser out a little more to, the powder is blowing out sideways to much, you don't have to blow with it in on bigger stuff to, its alot easier
Hi, good job man but I have a question, why do you paint when the object is very hot and not at normal temperature? I see a lot of videos where people paint with ambiental temperature. Maibe you tell this on the video but I don’t understand because I don’t speak good english. Thanks!
@adampaganelli4891

The first coat is fine to do at room temperature but the second coat a little heat will help it stick on better
