I prop my scindapsus successfully in water. I haven’t tried fluval or semi hydro on them. I do mix in perlite when using fluval as a prop medium to allow better airflow…but then again I add perlite to everything, including pon. 😂 My Jacklyn is finally growing…she’s given me 3 leaves so far and they are sizing up well…she’s growing in ambient conditions. My Alocasia Frydek is my fussy one right now…I saw it declining so I put the 3” pot into a humidity dome off to the side of a grow light. So far so good, fingers crossed. I got a small Frydek seedling at my favorite nursery for $25. It seems like Alocasias do well for me after they get a certain size and don’t need constant humidity. Maybe it’s just me…dunno.

I feel the same way! Once my alocasia outgrows the cabinet, she’s okay in regular humidity. So happy to hear your Jacklyn is doing well 🤗🌱 I have perlite added to a few plants but it looks SO GROSS hahah
🌱💚
Do you have the lid ? Close it up. It will water itself. Because your mouth is already wet when the jar gets sweaty then take the top off❤️
If you get that moonlight to prop would love seeing that

Going to try my best! 🌱✨
One thing I noticed is scindapsus do not like semi-hydro. I grow very few plants in soil, and they are one of them. For some reason, there are a few plants I have found will refuse to grow (but they will have nice roots) or go downhill.

Yeah this is my only one and it’s always been in semi hydro 😂 hopefully they grow in sphagnum!

I always use hydrogen peroxide to minimize root rot in my cutting ...

NOICE, I’m definitely going to do that lol nothing is worse than prop rot!
Fluval stratum is the best to grow alocasia corms

Mine was growing suuuper slow in water lol
Your videos are the very first time I seen an Alocasia Jacklyn probably like a year ago and have always wanted one! But honestly have been super intimidated by them. But I just ordered one and it’s on its way !! I already got a grow light and humidifier. Any tips!? I know there’s a good chance I’m going to kill it but I’ll be devastated if I do!! I absolutely love all your videos!

Check your local Walmart because a friend of mine found a good size Jacklyn earlier this year at Walmart. Hopefully you won’t kill it, if you do…we’ve all done it. I came very close to killing mine. I would reach out to the seller and find out how they were growing her prior to shipping and try to mimic the conditions. Remember that your plant might be stressed out a bit from shipping. Give it bright indirect light…acclimate it to its new home. If you go to Aprils other videos she’s got a few featuring her Jacklyn. 😊

Thank you so much! So excited you’re getting a Jacklyn 🤗 I’d say keep it moist, definitely not wet or dry and give it as much humidity as possible! I’d keep mine in the cabinet but it’s too big now. 🌱 good luck!

@@aprilbrooks thank you so I much!! I finally got her after some issues with shipping wish me luck! I do have one more question… I want to switch her to pon but I’m so nervous should I put her in water first? And shouldn’t I wait a week before messing with her?

I always look at Lowe’s home depo and Walmart a never find anything good. But I live in Cleveland ohio so maybe that’s why. Iv heard of ppl finding philodendrons an even Alocasia in Walmarts here but more down south.
My Peru is slowly growing. I am going to bump up the humidity

When they grow. And "if" you sell them. I think I will have to buy one of your alocasia jacklyn plants. (Because I can't find one.)
