Yep that's an improvement , just a tweek more on the horizon calibration and perhaps the follow me/follow target would not be asking too much as POTENSIC seem to have the knowledge in their electronics department to manage this . But yeah man this is a great alternative to the DJI Mini drones even here in Australia the price of the POTENSIC ATOM is very competitive to the DJI version as DJI has as they say, have sunset their other mini drone models as they were I'm guessing not up to par with the new wave of competition we see now on the mini drone market. Being a former sports reporter just getting into Drones. YOU SIR are a fantastic commentator. EZ to follow, and WOW, ive only seen the first few minutes of ur video, but the panning and the horizon looks so much better. Watched another drone reporter complaining about the ATOM and made me want to wait on buying one but after i get back from vacation in feb. May have to buy one now. I was in the market for A new drone as my other one is a cheapie I got a while back. Friends have Dji drones and when I flew them, they were pretty nice, my wife surprised me and bought me the Potensic Atom. This drone is awesome. I love the ease of flight and picture quality. 1 of my friends flew it and is now gonna get one and put his Dji away (so he says) But honestly, for less than 400 bucks with the fly more kit, you cant go wrong. The Follow me works really well also, it just does not have obstacle sensors so have to be careful.

I got mine about a month ago... and these 2 updates have helped considerably. If you are videoing in 2.7 K the zoom goes to 3x... thanks for the video.

I still have bebop 2 as one of my drones. Don't use it for anything serious obviously. I do like the platform. Was/is one of the best or the best platform imo. Even if the camera sucked. Shame anafi, like some other notable brands, left the consumer drone market. Especially when they were the ones that began it. The bebop was made in China too sadly. Some, rare ones, i think we're made in Massachusetts? Most all made in China I believe. ​@@GadgetInspector

Great video!!! Looks like those updates were a nice addition. Yes it has a slight horizon tilt, but compared to my SE it's leaps and bounds. And one major factor is what you're getting for the price point compared to the big names like DJI etc. I ordered the 3 axis drone fly more combo this morning. Can't wait to fly it!!! Thanks again for your videos..I really enjoy how thorough you are..it helps people understand as well as decide if the drone would be good for them before they spend money blindly.

I honestly wouldn't fly any drone in rain. You could really damage the internal electronics.

Great video demonstration of these newly added features. The Potensic Atom is the ONLY sub250g drone right no that falls under, “the big boys” DJI and Autel from what I’ve witnessed. All of the others are OK but they’re just not up to par with the Atom as far as the tech goes. I really enjoyed watching your video. Thanks for sharing it and you have a new sub here. with this new firmware this drone has the potensic to being the best!!

Curious, just got mine, weather to bad for flying but did get it ready including latest update. I notice the gimble does not go positive only 0 to -90, specs show +20 to -90. What is you gimble range? Have not yet calibrated drone axis. Your videos are quite helpful.

Hey, i love the video. For future horizon tilt tests or demonstrations, could you put a straight line on screen at horizon level so that we can tell exactly how good it is? Not just for this drone of course, even DJI ones. Keep up the good work.

I put a tape on the left and right of my screen and I do not see the tilt. I certainly do not see a shift as you panned. It looks rock solid to me.

Fully agree with your comments, tilts not as bad but still there, shame really if the tilt was fixed properly it would be a decent contender until then, it’s not for me, regards

They need an automatic exposure bracket option (AEB) with the ability to set the width of the bracket. From what I've read DJI has their bracket hard set at +- .7. A panorama option similar to many smartphones but also be nice.

Hello, I am a new subscriber of yours and what I’m looking at. It’s a good drone unfortunately I have all DJI drones. The mini one, the mini two and the mini three Pro with everything going on in the voting with the FCC in Congress to eliminate DJI drones looking for a another drone comparable to all my others I’m just not convinced yet that atom That it can do all the professional photos and videos that most subscribers do. Let me know what you think about the band of DJI drones, I will follow your channel and thank you very much. Great video as well.

Question! I can't decide between the Atom and the DJI Mini 3. The reason is, the Atom is $189 for a factory refurbished and the Mini 3 is $339 for new. I like the vertical shooting ability in the Mini 3 but I love the subject tracking in the Atom. In your opinion, because I trust your expertise, which one would you go for?

Optimised forced takeoff - allows take off from your hand or moving base such as a boat.

Agreed. Slow is smooth and that minimizes tilt which can add does happen on more advanced drones as you mentioned.

Looks like you got there by bike, nice! I would love to see how the Atom tracks a cyclist. It would also be cool to see if backing up now works when tracking.

Great video - THANKS! WOW! I'm ready to pull the trigger and get this, but I have just two questions... I'm an old time Phantom 3 Advanced user and love the SUPER portability of this little Atom 3-axis gimbal guy as well as all the amazing features, BUT (1) Does it require that you have your phone DATA TURNED ON when flying (WiFi to communicate with the aircraft in the field, I do understand)??? and (2) When it states there is a firmware update, are you "dead in the water" unless you connect to data and do so??? On my Phantom, you check for updates and do everything at your leisure, or just skip it, from your kitchen table, connected to your home wifi (at least using my flight control App of choice*). Thanks for any comments there. A little background on my antique 🤗Phantom is that I've been using an old Galaxy Tab notebook with WiFi but no data or phone capability at all, OR alternately a fairly modern Android phone in airplane mode to fly. Just for reference if it matters, instead of any DJI control apps, I've been using something called *Litchi for years (very unintrusive - no error prone geofencing for airspace, for example - and far superior to DJI app waypoint controls in my experience). Oh, just one more question (3) is there some way to smooth-out or put in a radius of flight into waypoint corners/changes of direction? Litchi definitely has various controls on that. Apologies for the long winded comment. THANKS AGAIN, Sir!

Nope, you can go ahead and turn data off. I actually do that to cut down on the annoying notifications I constantly get. I just turn on airplane mode which I have set to turn off data and bluetooth. Firmware updates are somewhat optional as you can still launch the drone without doing them. Unfortunately, the waypoint system is not as advanced as Litchi. The only native waypoint system that allows it (as far as I know) is with the old Bebop 2. Even the Anafi doesn't allow for those smooth waypoint transitions.

I really like my Atom. They have just released yet another update with further improvements and bug fixes. Sure, it's not a DJI but it's not that that far off and its way cheaper. I got the fly more package and have absolutely no regrets so far.

Yea this is the best "budget" GPS drone I personally have ever flown. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the video and photos.

My Potensic has 3.2.5 version?

I so want to get into drone specifically GPS camera drones. But I still can't afford the potensic . I bought a budget drone and I took off and I never found it. It was a terrible drone even though I followed all the directions. The instructions were in very bad English and didn't explain things well. This looks like a good drone. How were the instructions.

Sorry to hear that. The instructions are pretty good and the app also has a lot of instructional material.

With the horizon tilt essue , I think your overlooking the fact that the camera has a slight fish eye effect which is normal and it makes the horizon curve down at the far edges . I think the essue is fixed

I don’t know, I’m still not seeing that. When there’s fisheye it’s extremely obvious that especially when you tilt the camera down. Not seeing that at all here. You could be right, but I just can’t tell.

It’s under 250 grams so RID does not apply. Only drones requiring registration.

Can someone help, I did not get update, I do not have zoom and other stuff... App version 5.7.0 Flight control version v3.1.4 Gimbal version 1.5.1 ..... And so on....

From an ignorant point of view: Why can't it turn smoothly when in Waypoints mode? is there a way to set different POI in between the points? I know these are functions from the DJI drones but why can't this drone do it... is it just firmware issues or is it lacking physical parts like sensors or something like this? again... I'm not a pro...

Not good in low light huh? I very seldom fly at night since you have to mount a strobe light. I have a couple but just don't like to mount them on my drones. Maybe I'll check it out myself. I think I've only flown my Mavic 2 Pro and Anafi at night and both did great.

Turn on airplane mode and make sure you don’t have any wearable devices on that could cause interference. My GoPro WiFi was causing problems and Potensic says the DJI mic can cause interference.

That update is over a week old. Besides mine never had a tilt issue . A few others did. You sure it wasnt in fpv mode.. Im sold on this drone anyways. Its surpasses what i wanted.. The horizon issue might be due to how people are starting the drone. It should be flat when gimble reboots.. not sideways ot crooked

What do i think? I think the drone industry sucks. We been shooting cameras for years. So some of us have a pretty good idea how this works. Most of these drones you can't print a half way decent image from. They are toys. Even digital zoom is a toy unless you have the high enough beginning resolution. It's "fake" zoom. Drone is basically landscape and architecture photography. You don't take a 12 mp sensor with a wide angle then expect a good enough result to put on a wall. Just the nature of what a drone is trying to capture it should be medium format/large format territory. So it's a sad joke watching the market. My last high res wall print was stacked over 900 megapixels. Basically you can use a magnifying glass to look at the inside of building window panes. That's kind of the clarity you want ideally. The drones also (besides sucking in general) aren't up to the build quality of pro grade equipment. Even when the charge that amount. (Cough cough dji). Thinking of dji you can get a reasonable shot from a dji (not really but sort of). But you are paying 3k for something they spit out of Assembly line in China for probably $300. We are getting screwed all around. Also for someone like me living in a inclement weather windy snow ocean area. Expect to lose a drone once in a while. If you use it, it'll happen. So how many 3k dji drones you want to lose? Obviously you don't. So you buy these atom like ones which are basically disposable and plan to buy one or two a year. Still didn't really fix the problem though did it? Even on the ground, not moving, if you put that drone on a tripod for portraits it's not high quality never mind taking aerial footage. In the meantime all kinds of money goes to China for this junk. Which it is basically. Most don't realize what junk it is because they don't know any better. We being suckered. From cheap chinese assembly lines. "Well it has...&+5$*'(;:" fill in blank. Whatever it is, it's probably not really up to the task or you way over paid for it. How many of these drones will make it when a couple years of light use? Compared to pro cameras and lenses that last years, maybe decades? No these drones are mostly made for people that want to post crap on social media. That's the quality level. And buy a new one every year or two. Just glue or screw a iphone to the front of the drone you probably be better off. The drones are mostly all overpriced junk TOYS. Something else people don't realize it's some of these manufacturers really are listed as toy companies. Legit. It's not even insulting them. The frigtening part is the average person buying one doesn't realize how bad the image quality is. On most all these drones. So even subpar non quality is rewarded with "wow its so great!!". But then you have someone like me on the other side trying to get a decent print out of one throw sh!t. To put it in perspective a really low grade minimum photo is a 300dpi print. Most these drones when you do the conversion are under 100 dpi. That's basically a quality level of printing a draft quality of a adobe document. It's not even a image. Even the majority of everything in the dji line, junk junk junk junk. Not even meeting the MINIMUM requirement for a viable image. Unless you just posting on tictok

Yea I would say a predominant percentage of consumers aren't looking for the level of quality you speak of, so most folks are happy with something like the Atom. For those that can afford to spend a little more DJI is a good bump in 'quality' from a layman's perspective if I could use that term. I honestly don't think most folks have the eye that you have and these "toys" are adequate. Many products are produced exactly as you say and yes, it sucks for sure. I would actually like to print some of those landscapes and landmarks that I often capture but I mostly use my mirrorless camera for portraits and impromptu moments I want to capture. P.S. this may be the longest comment I've ever received! I actually appreciate it and appreciate the time you spent to share your thoughts.

Stay away from Potensic, the after sales suppoter is crap, here in the UK. They just dont want to know unless they can solve your problem for free if not it will cost you an arm and a leg, even when its a potensic product failure after six months, with very little use in that time, believe me i know. After sales in non existent, they will answer your call or email. And they will get back yo you, but it will be you paying the price, stay away.

@@Chris-wi7zh hi, yes the genuine potensic Atom SE, battery not holding a charge, contacted potensic, and they agree the battery is faulty because they told me i need to buy a new batt, off potensic, they offered me a small discount, the battery is only just six months old, Dec 2023, to May 2024,
