Potato Potential Divider

Ғылым және технология

Resistors are a thing of the past - if you need a potential, or voltage divider, the only component you need is a well stocked kitchen!
In this video I explain and demonstrate how a simple household potato can be used to construct a potential divider, capable of supplying very accurate voltages to various devices and circuits. Who knew electronics could be so simple?
********************************************
This is extremely dangerous due to the deadly high voltage used. You should not attempt this yourself unless you are competent and experienced.

DanTheAwesomeMan I rate this video Potato/10. As you know, potato is finely variable. Make of that what you will. LOL I love your videos. They're informative and entertaining.

loved this video, I wonder what was the donor for your transformer, what you used to current limit the potato and they changed to fry it later? and lastly, did you later eat the potato and what did it taste like? A+ for educating whilst also entertaining.

thezerocool22 A recently deceased microwave oven very kindly (and unwillingly) donated it's transformer and there's a 120W ballast in series with the input to limit the current, just visible in the upper left corner. I didn't feel like eating the potato. Cheers!

Hmm, the potato worked on the MOT in the beginning of the video, but not the end. Looks like you have a much better potential divider already in use on the primary side of that MOT lol. I'm assuming it was the ballast seen in the top left but not positive.
