Oh wow, yeah we heard those stories as well, that's why we recommend bringing, compeed, luko tape, vaseline and band aids! You never know how your foot is gonna react on different kinds of blister prevention, for us if there wasn't for compeed.... don't even want to think about it! Thank you so much.

Great video! To the point. If all goes well will be walking the Camino del Norte next April. I have two moths to do it so I will take it easy and enjoy

International pilgrims should note you can come with nothing and get everything you need from Decathlon. They do great lightweight gear at very reasonable prices. I live on the northern route and see pilgrims everyday, some in better shape than others. The ones in not great shape always have the same problems, footwear and too much in their backpacks. Stick to a 33 or 36 liter backpack with a hip belt. Osprey Talon 33 or Deuter Futura pro 36 will be fine. If you have wide feet then avoid Hoka! Haha!

Good tip! Personally we loved the way we did it, pre packed and backpacks ready to go, instead of going to decathlon and spending day or 2 searching for the right things! Oh avoiding Hoka is a must for our next Camino, you live you learn 😂

Bring them or buy! I think they lost/forgot them somewhere.

I just started working in the footwear section at REI and any time someone asks to try on HOKAs I automatically bring out the wide versions as well and recommend other wide toe box options like Altras and Topos. HOKAs are just too narrow. I did the Norte in Topo Ultraventures and they were amazing.

Sorry to hear that you had issues with Hokas. I actually love them and they have some that are wider as I also have wider feet. They were the only ones I wore on our Appalachian Trail thru-hike.

Thank you for sharing. So, just wanted to verify, you had a sleeping bag liner but no sleeping bag? I thought you have to bring your own sleeping bag or quilt.

Yes we had a sleeping bag liner, but did not have sleeping bag, because we were sleeping in the albergues (hostels), and they provide clean sheets and covers. We would only use sleeping bag liner if it doesn't look the cleanest or if we have any doubts about the cleansines of the space. Hope that answer helps!

Could you mentioned how much did you paid for private albergues??? I’m going next month and would like to have an idea. I’m doing the Frances Camino. Thank you in advance. I think you guys are so cute together. ❤

Did you wear one size larger shoe? That would accommodate foot swelling. Also, the Altra Lone Peaks have a wide foot bed.

Yes, Ellie did wore one size larger shoes, but it's just a tip for anyone looking to walk the Camino, wear the shoes you plan on wearing and go on a few long walks and see how it reacts to your foot!

How much did both ur pack weight and what size did u bith use?

I've watched their "before" packing vid. His backpack was 50L while hers was 40L. Weight of his was ~6.4 or 6.5 kg while hers was ~7.5 (she packed too many clothes, IMO). Ideally, they say to keep your pack around 10% of your body weight.

Thank i for responding. I am lv in a few weeks. I have A 32L. Looking to be under 8Lbs. I will carry this the 20 days. Doing the french way. Looking for suggestions to stays in private or hotels. Also, sarria to santiago in 7 days.

@@katrizzo9293 32L backpack should be OK. As for the weight, do you mean 8 lbs or 8 kg? Btw, if you will fly, trek poles are not allowed in handcarry (must be checked in). Can't help you re: accoms. I suggest to watch the vlog of "Days We Spend" - they did the Frances recently. Safe travels & buen camino.

Good info, but I'm rather disappointed you left out the most important item. You didn't bring a Bible? That's the whole point. What a shame.

Who would carry a physical Bible when you can read your scripture on your smartphone or Kindle? Also, as mentioned above, not everyone who does the Camino is Christian or religious at all.
