Thanks for having me out guys ❤
In fears of sounding horribly cheesy, your friendship won. You guys are amazing together as always.
I not only liked this video, but actually subscribed (been meaning to for a while anyway) because of the extraordinary effort you guys went through to shoot in that weather. Just watching it made me shudder 🥶Also, props for not making an 8+ minute vid *just* to increase ad revs.
That strobe shot Chris got is great! Freezing snow midair looked so nice
Being from a tropical climate, I feel like I caught pneumonia watching this great review.

Same, just sitting here in the Southern hemisphere with the air con on trying to cool down after my walk lol
An unexpected surprise, in so many ways! The lens looks to be superb. Thanks for braving the snow for us, guys.
Love you guys - and appreciate just how much you put into your work!
Gotta say, I liked Chris' backgrounds in his portraits more! Great to see Nikon bringing out some new fast Z glass.
Don't ever stop using the Noct scale! Beautiful skin tones. You guys are hysterical, dancing photo gets my vote.
LOL the dancing photos are the best!! Brave of you two to be in a snow storm and do a review without going crazy AND using a strobe!

Agreed! Clear winner.
This is one of your best episodes! I couldn’t care less for that lens: it’s for a system I don’t own, for a genre of photography that I barely practice, and completely out of my price range… and yet, I was completely engrossed in the video. Excellent work.
As a Finn I approve of these snow test videos, thanks!

Yes. As Finn the lack of beanies (pipo) also confuses me, but I guess I'm just a weak Finn. 😅
Seeing the lens in action in less than pristine conditions is for the win.
You GUYS! Running joyfully thru the snow and lighting Jordan MADE MY DAY. I have the 1.8 - just used it AND 50 1.2 yesterday for headshots. I don’t think that 85 would fit in my bag but BEAUTY!
This was an awesome video. Love that you braved the elements. You guys are awesome.
Good video as usual and big props for shooting in that weather. An interesting comparison would be to compare the Nikkor Z85mm f/1.2S against the Nikkor 105mm f/1.4e (maybe even the 85mm f/1.4G and D) and probably Nikkor Z 85mm f/1.8S. The reason I would suggest are the Nikkor 105mm f/1.4e has been the default pro Nikkor portrait prime lens for a number of years (I never have been a fan of the Nikkor 85mm f/1.4G) and see how it compares Z 85mm f/1.2 and see if it is even worth upgrading. The reason for the 85mm f/1.4D is to ask, how much lenses have improved over the last 20+ years and without pixel peeping, really are the improvements really going to be noticeable to a general audience (I suspect people won't care).
That snowstorm was NUTS.
Canada. Snow. Go figure you Canadians found snow. Wow. But the images from the 85....wow. Good stuff. I like Chris's second shot. Good lighting and composition (before you hit Jordan with that snowball).
Great dedication to be shooting in that weather!! Both of your portrait picks were terrific!! Well done!
I can feel the cold. Thanks for the effort, great review as always!
It’s finally here ❤❤❤
Y'all are delightful.
Great guys. Love it!
These guys are absolute troopers.
Man the footage in this episode looks tight. Well done!
You guys a boss. What you went through to deliver this content. Amazing. Thanks so much Kind Sirs.
That lens and camera just awesome! your both skill just make the photos superb!
Nicely done. Love the snowstorm as the backdrop for the lens review.
Best Video yet! One day I will buy one of these lenses.
Thanks for braving the elements guys plus a ver yhandy first view of my next major lens purchase! 👍🏾🙏🏾
I think I speak for everyone when I say, we appreciate you guys doing this under such crazy conditions.
amazing episode, appreciate the effort.👌👍
Best and funniest review from this lens I saw so far! Subscribed
I'm getting cold just watching this. Great job guys
It’s nice to see you have so much fun together. Good friends
Love how you made that video in circumstances that were FAR less than ideal!
What a lovely? Calgary's weather is! It's perfect time to test Nikon's weather sealings. Thank you for making good video.
Now that’s a winter review!🥶🥶🥶
Excellent video. The lens is nice too. Always good for a laugh from you guys. Cheers.
The best photo was the unique one Chris with his mouth 😊closed great video guys thanks
the result is really amazing
This was awesome! Really entertaining:)
The review was presented brilliantly by you.
You guys are awesome. I'm like laughing throughout the video, in a good way.
Brilliant tribute to Nikon, photography, and friendship. Definitely worth a couple thousand dollars. Loved it.
You both had really great pics.
The snow is really heavy lol, love the video❤
Friendship of the year!
Love the video guys...my vote goes to Chris's second shot. Stay warm!
So far the best video I have watched on the lens. The images show off the lens' quality. What I'd like to see more of is actually how the lens performs stopped down. It is not just about the 1.2. It will perform different from the 1.8 which does have a bit of a "mechanical-looking" bokeh. The 2.8 sample with the lights in the background was looking amazing! More of that in the next video please!
Love the Lost in Translation references 👍
Actually great portraits! :D
Omg as I finally get my Z9 my dream lens is here. FINALLY

not a prudent lens. My 1.8 85 is good enough!
Woah that's crazy nikon surprised us with the 85 f1.2
great video guys! i would love to see this baby against the canon competator soon!
The hard flash shot of Jordan is the best!
Tie! The photos are great😀
Great job guys, I''ll stick to the Nikkor Z 85mm f/1.8 S for now.
Serious lens!!
OMG, the weather! The available light shot of Jordan in front of the colour background is awesome. As is the running photo of Chris. I think it's a tie between the two.
Nice job!
Love them all. It’s also hilarious to know that the slurring that comes with a frozen face is universal.
Strobe crispy pictures 😮
"Chris running joyfully" was worth the 6 and a bit minutes :)
Amazing 😍
4:50 this is a fantastic shot.
What a wonderful, nice video. Making video under heavy snowing is really hard, buy it made this video unique. Sorry, my English is horrible.
That's some insane snowfall 5:45.. another great lens from Nikon.
Been awhile since I've tuned in, missed ya guys, hair looked great! haha
Draw on the images! Amazing lens.
I thought Chris's photos were better, but I think it was because Jordan was a better model. Next time they should have to do self-portraits.

Jordan indeed is a better model. And had the better hair ;)
Who knew a snow storm was an excellent time to do portraits?! :)
you two save that dry and often boring photography world ... thx for 😅💪
i'm sure that weather isn't a problem for the z9 and the lens, but that AD600 is at it's limits or beyond.
One Vid are without snow, Sigma 50 F1.4 and next has blizzard...Fun for you!
Beautiful Nikon Colors 😍🤌🏼🌹
Love shot of Jordan in front of the golden church door!
Thanks for braving the storm especially with the strobe! Beautiful quality lens. I have 105mm 1.4. My favorite ❤️. Will you do a comparison? The 105 is magical… wondering if this is too clinical in comparison? I love bokeh but this is an expensive lens… wondering if the performance is better. Thanks!
Man, we need that kinda storm here in PA just once this year.
Vintage Chris and Jordan. (Jordan and Chris? LOL) Amazing! Nicely done guys! I'm not sure if the shots and the lens were more impressive, or the weather sealing test! :)
8PM PST is a weird time for an embargo to end
I love the Melania hand slapp
Normally I would say “the camera is whether-sealed but NOT the cameraman”. You guys have proven me wrong :)
It makes me laugh at how tall Jordan is when you're walking together 😂😂
Jesus guys, this is too funny. Came for the Lens, stayed for the smacktalk :D
Jordan did the best job here guys. Cheers
Man, I need a friendship like this in my life. Cheers
Lit portrait: slight edge to Chris Natural light: clear win for Jordan Hair: tie between Chris's endless ridges of white and that huge single chunk of snow temporarily balancing off Jordans front tuft of hair making it look like a platinum blonde quiff. On second thought, that's not a tie, Jordan "wins" this one. Much appreciation for your (and the crew's) dedication and your sense of humour!
6:02 I don't and therefore the 85mm f/1.8 S lens I have is a perfect fit for me and the images are beautiful from that lens and a Z7 II. Best 85mm I've used that's not one of the high end 1.4 or 1.2 (and in my opinion, it would hold up against those and only lack the extra light gathering and shallow DoF.
You guys are completely crazy but you really made me smile wide, sitting comfortably in front of my computer in my warm room. How come you did not catch a terrible flu while shooting this episode? Well, you probably did... Talking about my pick for the contest, I'm sorry Jordan to say that for me, it is still obvious that only one of you guys is really a photographer and you should leave Chris with that area 😄but I've got to admit your pictures are really nice too ! And btw when will we see a video battle?!
KZreadrs complained so much when the 85mm 1.8S was there that there was no 1.2 lens.. now that it’s here they are complaining that it’s not worth paying.. just get an 85 1.8.. 🙄
Chris's last shot of Jordan wins by a mile and we also get to find out that the lens is shockproof ! nice.
I think you should have tested the weather sealing!
Nice lens. Everyone should have a decent 85mm/1.2
Chris is a better photographer, but also an excellent subject, so it’s hard to choose between the photos! 🤷♂️ You both did well gentlemen!
you guys could always tend bar when this gig suddenly comes to an end
lol you guys are the best!
Neither of you used the vertical shutter release, why? I never use my F mount 85 1.4. I love my 70-200 2.8 F and 105 Z mount for portraits. The Z mount 85 and 50 1.2s are excellent choices for pros, I just can't justify it. Thank you for keeping us informed, as always!

I think when photographers like KZreadrs have to use so many different cameras, they get in the habit of not using the vertical shutter release. I've had vertical grips on all my cameras since the D700, and if I ever hand it to another photographer, they rarely use the second release. When I ask them why, they simply shrug and say they're used to moving their arm instead.

@@UnconventionalReasoning Sounds right. I'm just so used to buying and using cameras with vertical grips. It started with my F3hp when I started with black and white!
@UnconventionalReasoning

@@mikelyon5595 Nice! I only go back to the D700 for my vertical grips. The Z7 was so unfortunate without one, it was replaced as soon as the Z7II was available.

I've used a bunch of integrated and removable vertical grips (I work at a camera store) and in my experience, while some are alright, most are mediocre at best. The ergonomics are never as good and the buttons are never quite in the exact same spot. After years of shooting without one, since most people learn on cheap/cheaper stuff, its just kind of easier to take a few shots at a time (like at an outdoor portrait shoot) using the normal grip. The only time I've found myself REALLY hankering for a vert grip is shooting indoor football, which is 30 minutes of constant vertical shooting, then my wrist gets sore using the normal grip (I imagine pros would get RSI from this quickly). Otherwise, the less familier and inferior design of the vertical grip isn't worth using... in my opinion :)
Visible distain factor is something you should test on all lenses.
Snow, I'm Canada 🇨🇦 quelle surprise! We love to see you guys suffer for your art 🤣
