Hi Matt did not really get the number of pictures you were able to shoot before hitting the buffer,. I am interested because you set it out as I will like to do: compress raw to the Cfexpress and small jpg to the sd in case something goes wrong at least I have the jpgs. Thanks.

I thought I wanted the Noct. Then I got the 85/1.2 and realized that that was actually what I wanted. Also, $5k got to remain in my bank account, so I've got that going for me.

Man... Jay just has the perfect classic sculpture shape! You can teach a class every shape of every muscle in a male's body just showing his pics! Awesome physique and no wonder he won the HK Street Fitness Champion! I want him as my fitness trainer, the only problem is that we're a few time zones and thousand miles apart😶 On a side note, love the 85 shots😜

I feel the 58mm f0.95 NOCT is a luxury item. I would say there is more value in the Nikon 85mm F1.2.(personally find with just F1.8) I feel for most users a 50mm F1.2 no matter the brand would be a better choose over the 58mm.

Cool comparison. My 50 1.2 is my go. 85 1.2 looks nice for sure but I’ve got the 1.8 version. Holding out for the 135 1.8. Hopefully they release it soon!

I love the fact Nikon made the 58mm 0.95. They needed to show off their skill in making a stellar lens even if 99% of people will never use or buy it. To me it is a bit of "look what we can do" and that is old school Nikon thinking. Think of the 6mm Nikon fisheye back in the day. Love your videos Matt!

Found a copy of the 85 1.2 and if it's not already gone tomorrow will be buying. Deep somewhere in my heart I hoped this video would suggest the Noct instead LOL Knew it to be simply impractical for the shooting I do, but still.... Thanks for the video.

The 58 Noct is nice, but it's probably out of the real of feasible (price-wise) for most people (even some paid shooting professionals) as it amounts to about a mid-range camera kit (ie. a camera body + 2 or 3 lenses combined). I think for most people the 85 1.2 is more feasible (from a cost standpoint) and delivers some great results. For me, I'm sticking with my 85 1.8 as I can't justify the cost of even the 1.2 currently. Either way, both lenses are great although I think for some, the auto focusing on the 85 1.2 may also be a benefit since it has AF, over the Noct which is manual focus. At some point, I will probably buy the 85 1.2 but this is a ways down the road ( few years probably) and ideally would like to get the 50 1.2 and the 85 1.2 (but so far the 1.8 versions have been serving me well so I'm not in a rush to upgrade). (The Noct is also a bit more of a niche lens, I feel, with its ultra fast aperture, whereas the 85 1.2 is more versatile in some respects (has AF and can be used for things like landscape if you wanted), and really I don't think anyone should feel bad about going with the 85 over the Noct for any reason -- both are excellent lenses).

I have both. 85 1.2S is technically better in almost every aspect (focus speed, lack of chromatic aberrations, sharpness, bokeh transition smoothness and out of focus highlight shape, vignette) except size/weight. The 105 gives you additional background compression for a unique look if you want that. They are both special lenses.

The fact that Matt did even one pull-up is nothing short of astonishing! I would venture to say that Matt is way stronger than the kid because when you do pull-ups you are pulling up your entire body weight. The kid is much lighter than Matt. I personally weigh only 170lbs and cannot do a single pull-up 😂😂😂

The Nikon 58mm f0.95 NOCT is certainly a bragging rights piece but for its price? How could anyone justify the price for essentially a 50mm lens? I'd love one but my Sigma does a pretty good job already and my Canon 50L did a great job in the past.

@@UnconventionalReasoning I guess. I had the Nikkor 50mm f1.2 AIS and there was the NOCT version. Never really understood the NOCT version compared to my lens, like ok maybe its a small percentage better like 8% but say $500 vs $3500? Nah not worth it.

@@classic.cameras Again, it depends on whether the optical difference really matters to a particular photographer, and whether $3k matters to them. Of course, 90% will say, "Nah, not worth it." But the other 10% will consider it, and some will buy it. If an astrophotographer can sell their best prints for $1000, the AIS NOCT quickly became worth it for them.

@@v3rlon Very true. For me one of the best things about using primes is being able to allocate my resources unequally. Since using the 85mm lens gets my best 'keepers', I can get the f/1.8 35mm and 24mm lenses while saving for the 85mm f/1.2.
