I think its a very nice alternative to everything you would shoot with a fast 35mm - weddings and other kind of reportage, for example. i often throw a 24-70 2.8 or 20 1.4 into my bag just to have the option of beeing a bit more flexible and/or having the option of going wider than 35mm when i use the classic 35mm and 85mm lenses on a wedding day. instead of the 35mm and the backup lens i would just go with the 28-45. especially having the wide end makes quite a bit of a difference when you try to capture a spontaneos groupshot in tight places, want to capture a whole room or location etc. - quite interesting lens.

The sigma is unmatched for value. Observation, there’s less cats eye going towards center of the frame. The art image had lights more towards center of the frame vs the others. So the framing made the sigma bokeh look more circular. Canon seemed to perform worse across all images for that characteristic. Nikon best. The build quality and lousy af motors of the canon is why I no longer own it. There’s a lot of comments about size. The reason is directly due to design goals. Nikon prioritized eliminating/reducing focus breathing, vignette and distortion. The Sony and Sigma are smaller but both have more vignetting, weird type of distortion, and more focus breathing. Nikon decided to correct those things by design. Sony/Sigma decided to correct it by software. The canon focus breathing is significant and it’s more like a 1.4 lens for how much light is let in. Obviously the Nikon cons are weight and size.

If using a 2x TC and high shutter speed gets an amazing shot in terms of things like subject matter and composition, but the ISO is 25,600... well... that's what it is. I've never noticed this about the Nikon Z 50mm f1.2 until this video but I wonder if it was originally developed as a F mount lens? It really reminds me of Sigma DSLR lenses made for Sony E Mount where they just built in the adapter. This Nikkor also looks like it has an adapter built in. Gotta wonder as they did not ever have a Fmount f1.2 AF lens (though that AI-S was a wonderful lens for MF)

As a Nikon Z9 user, like yourself, I am biased perhaps and see that in low-light conditions, the Nikkor looks much the best of the bunch. But I am biased. I am not going to go out and buy an expensive Canon simply to try out a 50 1.2! Not when the Nikkor looks that good, especially in the natural low-light situations you show. It's good that you do these comparison video's but I would imagine that Sony users and Canon users feel exactly the same way (except they might feel a few envious feelings about the Nikkor glass). One take-away from the video is perhaps spacing the lens out to give more space to the elements seems to be beneficial for the Nikon lens, and having less aperture blades seems to lead to what I feel is more pleasant (not sure how you spell) bouket? I have a Nikkor 50 1.4 D that I use on a Nikon D810, I am quite happy with what that gives me. I don't often use it at 1.4, but in aperture priority mode, on a reasonably sunny day, it is suggesting 1/5000th at 64 ISO.... Sorry, got sidetracked there, good video, very pretty model, good work.
