Amo os ingleses porque conservam tudo que têm. Já os portugueses são pequeninos mas têm a mania das grandesas que pena eu tenho ao dizer porque também sou português.

True, Britain has always had an eye for items likely to be of future historical interest. As for Portugal, at least Porto still runs some of their old trams. Just a pity that they thought it necessary to build new tracks off the street.

At the very beginning, it seems to apear car #252 (later 652), which was later sent to Buenos Aires.

I checked the original scan frame by frame and can see no other likely car number. Over many years Porto did sell off a lot of spare trams of this type so you are almost certainly correct.

very interesting video. I did not know Porto had any bogie cars, I thought the whole fleet were 4-wheelers, and as for double deck trolley buses they were a shock to me, were they 'home built' or what, as they certainly didn't come from the ex London stuff over their (Spain), they looked too modern for them anyway.

Yes Porto certainly did have bogie cars, several different types in fact but they were all fitted with just two motors on maximum traction bogies so did not run up the steep Hill to Carmo. I feel it’s a pity that none are used in the present tourist operation and there seems to be none of the fourwheelers with the very low sides and high windows. I did not see Double deck trolley buses after the 1975 visit. Perhaps a Google search will tell you more about them. Don’t miss part two where you will see fourwheelers going quite fast at times.

I certainly will look out for Pt2. Where the trolleys ran beside the trams I presume they just added either a 2nd. or 3rd. wire depending on the number of tram wires, certainly that single decker looked as if its poles were at 'full stretch' sideways in the frontal view towards the end.

I can’t tell you much more about trolleybus overhead but tend to think there was no wire sharing with the trams. That is the sort of thing I normally notice, but recall nothing of that there. Part 2 has been available for quite some weeks so a KZread search under tressteleg1 hopefully will reveal it.

😊👍👍 And here is part 2, if you could not find it before 😊 Porto Trams Part 2 Matoshinos & Boavista - some speedy trams! kzread.info/dash/bejne/faxrsLerfru_Zrw.html Also, you may have seen the comment from another guy who said that the Eurotram voltage is 15,000 DC which I suspect is incorrect. Certainly it used 600 V in Melbourne but could probably easily run on 750 DC. Can you advise us please?

Thank You for your reply about 750 V DC. That is exactly what I expected. Rarely does a line with street running use more than 750.
