I worked for an Albanian property manager in New York, and he explained how they make it work. They have a big extended clan, and one of them is the designated bruiser who uses force to drive bums away. Then there are other relatives whose job is bail bondsman for the clan. If a bum shows up, that bum will have a mysterious "accident" and be "persuaded" to leave. If one of the clan has to throw punches and gets arrested, they have a lawyer on retainer. So if Albanians or Macedonians, or Greeks move into these properties, the "homeless" will start to disappear.

He said "No don't do that" but he told me when no one was around, you could move the tent off of your property. So early one rainy morning I did just that. I then put signs up and of course they have been taken down since then, so I piled a bunch of brush and logs there to stop this nonsense, and A few days later I noticed his stuff had been pickup. I’m not saying everyone who’s homeless has issues, but I’ve noticed a lot do. They could be murderers themselves who knows? That said, these people need help and sneaking into someone’s back yard who might have children around, starting fires and doing all that weird stuff is not the right way to get help. I feel for these people, truly but that’s just asking for something to happen.

This fire was important because it was used for cooking and for keeping the home warm. Hestia also helped to keep peace in the family and taught people how to build their homes. Empowering and making “safe spaces” for drug addicts, decriminalizing drug crimes, giving out meth pipes and needles and courts re-affirming the rights of the homeless to sleep in public spaces of their choosing? The term “killing them with kindness” comes to mind. When so-called humanity towards your fellow man leads to untreated drug addiction, overdose deaths, untreated mental illness, apathy and a front row seat to watch the slow decline of people into uncivilized barbarism how can those who do nothing but talk live with themselves. Talk about true cold blooded callous evil individuals who can sit back, watch people degenerate before their very eyes, do nothing and have no “truly actionable” plan that produces actual results to fix the problem. @@cleenlivin I guess we need to talk population, sociol economis, property tax rate etc as well as how the officials do their job and of course how peiple vote. You cant compare Rhode Island to Texas, the same with cities as it is far easier to solve a problem in a small town than it is in a big city. My dayghters lives in a small suburbs city outside of where I live. I have yet to see a homeless person there. The average home price in her city is $675,000 which may not be high in California but here it will buy you a big luxury home. It is one of the reason that many California companies have moved their headquarters there. There us very little crime and has a visible police and fire department. I get the city's newsletter and it's a great place to live and to raise children. Because it had a wealthy tax base the city can build new schools, that are the best in the area , provide all needed social services , hire enough, qualified police fire department as well as other programs for adults and children. I volunteer at a large homeless shelter downtown.. I only see panhandle at the street intersections by the toll way. In my area of the city. I pass out water and give them and offer to help them to get to a shelter. I haven't had one person take me up on it.

Homeless started being used when the urban camping thing got going. Before that the people who stayed in one place and didn't work were called bums and vagrants. Tramps were people who traveled and didn't look for work and hobos traveled and looked for work.

I live here in Portland and the cops won’t even show up for ANYTHING, let alone this. Looting a Plaid Pantry last weekend to the tune of $10-15k won’t show up. One of the looters was armed and threatened the clerk with his life, gun in face. Oh and this is right after the street racing that was happening outside and the police said they didn’t show up because it was too big of a scene. 😂😤

@@nosonoliento And you know that "how"? It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that when home and rental prices shot up much higher than the general inflation rate, and too little affordable housing is available, homeless increases. Obviously, ignoring the problem hasn't worked. Draconian anti-camping laws will only result in courts, prosecutors, public defenders, prison and forced mental commitments. They would prove *far more expense* to taxpayers than ignoring homelessness is now costing us. _What will work?_ *Many more affordable housing units made available. *Many more emergency housing options than currently exist. *Sanctioned outdoor camping areas for those who will not agree to inside shelter rules. *Readily available and affordable mental health treatment and drug addiction treatment. Job training and placement are also needed. While I don't contend that implementing the above would stop ALL homelessness in Portland, I know that these measures would drastic reduce it, and, as a bonus, these ideas would cost LESS to taxpayers than ignoring homelessness has cost us.

You or your family must not have ever had the experience of dealing with a "homeless" loved one. Family members do not "refuse to help there own". They refuse to further finance their loved ones' road to hell for them. Families and friends have done all they can and more "to help there own". They are not selfish. The public and state officials have done all they can to "take care of these people." They are not "ignoring the issue." Do you understand the issue? These "homeless" individuals have chosen to be because of their life choices and the lifestyles associated with it. They refuse free room and board for more than a few nights because it isn't conducive to their life choices and lifestyle.

The citizens of each city, work hard and expect their governor and attorney general and legislators to solve problems like other big cities in the world ,like in DA NANG .However, Seattle and Portland, Detroit, Chicago, NY, LA, San Francisco, Philadelphia, NJ ,leaders, seem to enjoy the CHAOS their policies and laws create for citizens . This allows the government to enact population control by killing citizens with fentanyl, gun control ,Federal money, money in politicians pockets and eventually slaves to work and further governments agendas.

For the life of me, I don't understand why she wasn't removed IMMEDIATELY! This isn't a squatter's case, where the squatter can pretend as though they have a lease and it's up to the courts to decide. Obviously if you have a tent and are living in my backyard, you have zero rights to that and I'd think that any sensible solution would be 1. removing the person right then and there and 2. if you show up again, throwing that person in jail preferably for a long period of time (like a year) so that they're smacked in the face and get the fact that they need to find other options and stealing space from someone's backyard isn't one of those options!

When did cops all over the west coast decide that "squatters" "campers" were not trespassing? Time and time again, these uneducated cops call this a "civil matter" so that they do not have to do anything. Trespassing is a crime; vandalism and arson are crimes. Cannot understand why a property owner cannot order anyone off their property-pronto. In many parts of this country, if a person steps foot onto private property, they are rendered unable to take a step back. Sounds tough? Cruel? See if you like having someone in your dry wheat fields who could start a fire; see if you like your livestock stolen or mutilated; how would you like heavy, very expensive machinery vandalized? Same goes for a property owner in the densest city neighborhood. No trespassing. Very simple, cops and judges.
