Thanks for the help! I ordered the part from Amazon less than 24 hours ago and my nail gun is working like a charm!!! I did lose the little ring that holds the trigger pin in... I could rig something, but think the nailer deserves a new one!! Thanks again... now for that beer...

Thanks for this video. Like you I was having the trigger leak, not the piston leak problem and was kind of flabbergasted as to how to fix it. Watching you do this gave me the confidence to order the part from Amazon. 15 mins later, and I have a finish nailer that works like new. My only difference is that when you put the new assembly back in (around 6:40ish) it popped in pretty easily. I needed to use both thumbs and press it back in harder than it looks like you did, until it clicked. Otherwise, I was back in business in no time. You are an internet hero.

Hey, Glad you got it sorted out!
Just wanted to say thank you to Mr. Kanoy - thanks to this video, I was able to repair my gun in about 5 minutes and for about $18. Three pins - two holding the valve, one the trigger, popped it out easily, put the new one in from Amazon, put the trigger back and three pins back in and done. And I'm not the most handy fella -- I had to buy a punch set even (suggested on Amazon with the valve even!), but that is a good investment anyway.

I have the same nailer and the same problem. I actually took the trigger valve apart and found there is a little plastic o ring that has destroyed. It looked fine just like yours but once taken apart the problem was obvious. New trigger assembly solved the problem.

Well done! With things falling apart, and springs and assembly doodads shooting out, I probably would have thrown it away and bought a new one, all the while snarling expletive deletives (my technical muttering) then explaining to my wife that it couldn't be repaired. Thanx!!

Great job!! Thanks for sharing. I’d bought the finish nailer years ago and just got to use it. Worked fine for a dozen nails and the I decided I needed shorter nails. Off to Home D. Got another 5-10 nails in and happy camper I was. The next trigger pull nothing. WTH??!! Checked for a jam. Clear. Pulled up you video. I guess this is the problem. When I pull trigger I hear a hiss from back end. Will order the part and punch set on Amazon. Fortunately I have the beer!!

I have a DA250C the part number is 647620-00. I hope this makes ordering easier. Thanks for this video.
this is bc the metal shaft in the center has 2 tiny o rings that most likely disintegrated with use. you can only see them or the grooves if you take that trigger assembly apart. instead of ordering that part, i ordered a whole assortment of orings and hopefully that will fix it as well. but great job on the video!

To that “red grease” you’re talking about is actually the oring. After a while, that oring becomes like gum. It is super common on the porter cable trigger valve. I’ve replaced the oring and it was fine but I’ve also replaced the hole thing. Replacing the oring obviously is much more cost effective as the rest of the orings aren’t made out the same material as the failed oring.

Was it a standard rubber o-ring? Or did you need to get a special Porter Cable o-ring? I don't see why you need to replace the whole valve if it is only a 2cents o-ring that is bad. Thanks!

Usually per customers request or they brought their own trigger valve bug didn’t know how to install it themselves.

It's because inside the trigger "valve" assembly there is a rod where the replacement part has two O-rings around it, but the original one just had some crappy grease/glue sealing instead that falls apart over time. Planned obsolescence caught red handed lol. All you had to do was pull the old trigger valve thingy apart with very light force and you would see.
😩😆😆👏🏽 When he got it working 🤣🤣🤣👏🏽👏🏽 HE WENT IT WITH THE Nailing!!!!!💗💗💗💗🥳🥳💪🏽👑
Worth the money.
That's how it's done son, F it up and fix it. GJ not editing out.
I have seen that all of the porter cable models staple/nail guns have been the triggers, look there first.
Mine doesn't leak either. But a specialist told me it wasn't the trigger valve.
from your research and from the information you found,,, seems that this may be a common problem with the Porter Cable gun(s). Thank You for the info....

Could be, but in the interest of fairness to PC, I used this gun commercially for a decade. When it failed, it failed over time, and when I put in an inexpensive new trigger, it was like new! I call that a win, and at the rate I bang nails these days, I expect this will last me a lifetime. Thanks for watching, and commenting, I really appreciate it!

They freaking made the valve to purposely failed over time. I took the valve apart and one of a seal was made out or gel like material, quick can easily shrink and out of shape because of heat.

Yup o'rings I the trigger. They are bad about. But you changed the trigger but it will do it again they're are other o'rings that you can replace with and it won't do it again
thanks - great learning vid. my air gun shots a double nails would that be a trigger problem?

I have a Central Pneumatic roofing nail gun, 93253. I watched the clip and took it apart. There are two green bumper parts that deteriorated. One is a dampener at the very back, the other is a external dampener on the outside of the piston cylinder. I can not find a place to buy replacement parts. Major spare part suppliers do not list Central Pneumatic, neither Harbor Freight. Any idea? I believe that this brand uses parts that are designed for another brand. 2022-11-22

my porter cable trim nailer keeps shooting out multiple nails with every trigger pull, one nail in the work piece (often not fully) one on the floor and one jammed in the gun,,, the gun isn't leaking... any idea what the heck is wrong???..... thanks, Rob

Do you have the sequential or the bump trigger installed? This sounds like an issue with the trigger linkage. Maybe swap triggers and se what happens, or just disassemble the nose of the gun completely and reassemble- That might clear up the issue. I haven't encountered this particular problem. Good Luck!

I bought the new trigger valve for my DA250 (same symptoms as you). However, after replacing the trigger valve, it still won't fire. No leaks other than a slight hiss when I press the trigger, but it's very faint; same sound as before/after the new trigger valve. Any ideas? I don't want to keep throwing money at this, guessing on a solution. Thanks!

I'm sorry to hear that, have you made sure the nose area doesn't have a nail jammed, or have you opened the cylinder to see if the piston is easy to move? Sometimes enough disassembly/reassembly cycles can make it work. Perhaps the valve you were sent was a dud? Good luck getting it figured out.

Was wondering why you couldn't just find the right o-rings! It does say in the manual not to oil this gun. Mine looked like the oil someone had put on may have eaten the o-rings. Got it at a garage sale, thrilled to have a working gun for around $30. total!
That will happen with the 16g and the 18g
