In this video, we strip down a Porter Cable FN250C finish nailer that won't fire to try to figure out what's wrong. The solution was inexpensive and simple.

Replaced the trigger and mine works like new. Thanks for showing the total tear down. I popped the three pins, pried out old trigger and snapped new one in in about three minutes. Amazon costs, about $14.00. You saved me around $170.00. Again, thanks for the video.
Nice video. I thought I was listening to Anthony Bourdain, may he rest in peace. You have a great voice and should be making bank doing voice overs.
Thanks for posting this. I have the same model I've had for 10 years and mine started doing the exact same thing today. I'm ordering a replacement trigger piston assembly, got nothing to lose trying. Thanks again.
Thanks Joe! that is exactly what was wrong with my nailer. Glad I found your video!
Thank you for the detailed video, Joe! Fixed it in no time once the part arrived! Cheers!!
Great video. Just exactly what i was looking for. Got mine working and saved me the expense of buying another one. Thanks.
Wanted to say thank you, thank you, thank you for this video as my nail gun was having the exact same issue. replaced the trigger assy and its working like new again.
Thanks much, you helped get my nailer’s trigger back together.
I had the same problem with my nailer. I found those tiny O-rings, put them in and got the nailer work again. Thanks for pinpointing the root cause.

davechen9438...where did u find the o rings?
Glad someone made the trigger replacement parts that original manufacturer didn’t support their products anymore by providing spare parts
Exactly as u said. I ordered trigger and when I replaced it the old one had no o rings left! Thank you
Thanks for this! The last part of the trigger insert was hard to pull out. I used a Paint Can opener, the small hooked end was able to grab a spot down in there and it popped right out. Looking forward to using this nailer again!
Have the same problem with mine. Gonna try the trigger assembly replacement. Thanks!
Same gun, same issue. Thanks very much!
Thank you, Exactly what mine is doing.
My gun was acting up last time I used it. Today I started using it and it failed just like in this video.....Now I know what to look for when I take it apart....Thanks !
Lol... I haven't dug that deeply into mine, but it's is doing the same exact thing. I rightly assumed ot had something to do with the trigger. I'll order the part and see if it will fix the gun. Thanks!
I could have told you from the start that its the trigger valve. I fiddled with mine a couple years ago and learned the hard way
I have the same problem! Thanks for the video
Great job and the good way to explain things appreciate the update 🇩🇰🙏👍
this is a common issue many porter cable fn250c nailgun failures guns Look brand new still , i have same one , obviously manufacture is using very sinister cheap parts assembly, trigger seals etc just getting money $$ from customers .
Good video. I had the same problem... and I noticed there were never real "O-rings" in there originally to begin with, it was just a semi-stiff seal made of grease/glue!!! No wonder it looked like they disintegrated. Planned obsolesce caught red handed! LOL. Needless to say I will not be buying Porter Cable anymore. I was looking for an excuse to get a Milwaukee cordless....
Saved me some time! Thank you 🙏
Thanks for the video! I've been having the exact same issue, I'll get the part and hopefully that will fix it!
Waow.... Thank you sooo much for this vedieo.. Much appreciated
Great video. Thanks for sharing
I was building a doghouse for my corgi and my exact same finish PC nailer had issues just like urs. Hoping to just replace the o rings and call it a day. Thanks! Liked and Subbed!!

Oh my local lowes didnt have the parts so I temporarily use teflon with lube and it works lol
first 20 seconds of the vid i WAS TELLING YOU IT WAS THE TRIGGER VALVE
Thank you
are these good nailers also what is the difference in the different modles in the 250SB and 250C 250B
Hopefully you’ll tear into the porter cable pancake compressor. Mine leaks when it hits around 100 psi in tank and won’t shut off due to it.
I have the same problem (DEWALT d51257 is identical mechanically). Whatever is left in mine looks like rings made out of grease. Instead of buying a new assembly, has anyone found the size of the replacement rings?
Let me guess you charge the customer 4 days worth of Labor to fix a $40 stapler good video anyway though I bet you're glad you made it so you can put it back together and see where everything goes

IIRC, it belonged to a neighbor and I charged him only for the parts used to fix it.

Did you fix it, or u bought anew one? I did watch it till end good job.

Yep I still have it. Still debating what I want to do with it. I have a lot of these guns laying around 🙂
Have the same problem with my air nailer. Porter cable wants 48.00. What is the part number for the trigger assembly from Amazon

same problem with mine too. so maybe those PC pneumatic gun are totally junk.
you didn't oil the top gasket. LOL
Your voice is really familiar
HF spend $100 and you save 8 hours of your life
It was shooting 2 nails because it is a 16ga nailer and I’ll bet you were shooting 18ga nails
Most frustrating and unreliable tool I've owned. Appreciate your video, but the gun isn't worth the effort. Had mine for years, and even using their nails, continues to multi-fire and jam. Won't even give it away. It's trash material.
Thanks for your information,.
