I love how the defective turrets are way more loveable than the working ones. This song really speaks to me as well. He just wants to live like everyone else, so I can really relate to him.

Well, some more fucking around shows that the ground up moon rocks conduct portals, let's find out whether the moon rock portals do anything interesting. He /did/ bounce back from failures, research further, try to make the unusable usable. But GLaDOS era Aperture? Kills test subjects after 1 track. Kills thousands of test subjects because a bird laid eggs on her console. Incinerates easily fixable turrets instead of just... fixing them. Destructive and wasteful to the point that it seems deliberate. Almost as though she had some kind of subconscious reason to resent Cave and the company...

Theory: At the end the reason he was incinerated was because he was functional, in the earlier incinerator scene you can see Chell running past, It's possible the turret was rebuilt functionally and placed back on the line after being incinerated and didn't bother actually looking at the master turret because he knew he was working properly, he just imagines the same face but it's actually a defective turret.

A series of bad luck. But you can clearly see that the turret looked excited at the master turret and the master turret didn't react. So it was more of a problem with his inner system.

Not to bust anybodys mood here... but i like this interpretation: We are all kinda this defetive turret. We all struggle with things others seem to be able to without problems... We try adjusting more and more... but there always seems to be something that makes us seem defetive... at least we think that others think that. The "bullets" that he wants is the "ultimative" difference that we see and which we try to get to... We think if we have this thing it would make us more happy... but in the end getting this thing will only rip open another difference. We always think that the outside world is going to judge us based on some minor details we see in us, even though others probably don't and will never see. I know its true for me... i always have and probably will always think that I'm different from everyone else... thinking that others don't have flaws or own thoughts... thinking I will not ever come to rest in my life... this is why "I feel it in my code, enough to make my core explode" gives me goosebumps everytime... This subtle feeling that we are defetive and should be so much better... the story of my life. I wish everyone a nice week :) Maybe you even liked my interpretation ^^

I always saw the Defective Turrets as the Ambitious Underdog since, while they're nonfunctioning, they have alot more spirit in their voice than the normal monotone turrets do.

That's what make them defective: a kind of spirit they have that normal ones don't have. Or maybe they get that spirit when they become defective.

Supershadow301 I would guess the exposed metallic mechanics and lack of bullets (And sight for most of them) would be a bigger problem than their voice personality. XD

MetroidJunkie2007 I'm not talking of their voices! I'm talking about their "spirit". For example: in the original game, when they answer the turret to prove they aren't defective, they say stuff like, "Have you got some bullets?" while regular ones would just answered "Hello."

Supershadow301 Well, I said voice personality, which would mean the spirit they put into it and I know, I played through Portal 2. I'm just saying that, if the only thing that was defective about them was having a different voice, the system probably wouldn't be rigged to throw them into the incinerator. Afterall, that 'different' turret has a normal voice but was labeled as a defect, likely because it doesn't get aggressive when it spots an intruder, instead spouting insightful commentary.

Something about defective turrets raspy esc voice just makes this song surprisingly good

How in the world Harry 101 hasn't been hired by Valve, I do not know.

Its awesome to see how the voice evolves everytime the turred was upgrated. Also the animation is awesome too

***** no, and by the way, i switched from, give me a body to give me bullets (both of them) and there was no change. if you are talking about the building music, i can hear that but there is no change to the voice itself .
